I have this unit as my main router, works well in a house hold of 4 people, (2 smart TV's, 3 computers, 3 tablets and two phones)

    • What's the 5GHz range like?

      • If it's anything like the model above (AX3000) couldn't even give a stable connection to the PS5 in the next room, less than 10m away (Walls are planks of wood, old queenslander house, no wires or electronics between.) Before I moved it, when line of sight was clear and less than 5m from the PS5. Connection was perfect.

        • I looked at that one too but didn't need the extra features so went for the AX1800.

This will need to pass through a cupboard and one wall to a PS4 (and soon a 5) as well.

I hope this doesn't turn into a "told you so". :)

    • Interested in the 5ghz range as well especially with walls

  • Definitely thinking of buying it. I've come back to the deal 3 times now, even watched a YouTube review of it. Who says I should just pull the trigger? Currently just using my internet providers one 🤦🏾

Should arrive Monday so I'll pass on how it goes.

It's replacing a Netgear wireless N (WNDR3800) that's been solid for many years. The only real problem I have with it is the 5GHz to one of the bedrooms which is less than 10 metres away. It drops off as soon as you enter the room. Yet, it stretches to a Chromecast further away, with more walls in the opposite direction.

Hopefully the RT-AX56U fixes that. If not, I may create a mesh by adding another Asus router. It's also wall mountable, like the Netgear, so will fit neatly inside a cupboard.

We have only 1 neighbor and paddocks on other sides so no issues with interference.
