  • Slightly confused at the T&Cs. Does this renew at the same discounted price?

    • "After the first 12 months, no further discounts apply on NRMA Roadside Assistance subscription."

Complete Care clearly isn't complete since there's an Ultimate Care with more additions…

    • +1

It's like people who feel complete, or relationships that are complete… People eventually find out that they are not complete…

        R U OK?

        • +2

Lol… Yes, thank you for asking. 🙂

          • @this is us: Good to hear, have a wonderful sleep and day tomorrow :)

  • Roadside assistance has a 48 hour waiting period.
If you are broken down and need immediate assistance, call us at 13 11 22 to join (surcharge applies - monthly payments not available).

WTH is that :( so what is the meaning of roadside assistance ???

    • +1

I believe it's meant for future assistance. If you take it today, and need assistance today or tomorrow, then call that number.

If after 48 hours, they cover you under the plan.

Not sure what is so difficult to understand.

They want ongoing memberships and not people becoming members only when they need.

Once you become a member, you have to wait 48h for your first call.
If you are not a member, you can call them, but you will have to pay more than the usual membership if you want to use the service before 48h.

      • But it hasn't mentioned for first call
        Thanks for clarification.

        • Curious why you felt that it did.
This is a very standard clause type agreement for many subscriptions that run the risk of being abused by people joining only when needed

  • Anyone recommend any breakdown cover for a transit van? 3.5t gvm… Seems to out of the scope for 'normal' breakdown cover.

  • Anyone have experience with their key plus on the ultimate care?

    How does one claim that?

Yet again, loyal members get screwed over by the NRMA. It certainly 'pays to belong'

  • I've had some pretty terrible experiences with NRMA roadside the last few years on one of our cars. The other car is with Allianz roadside which has been significantly better (although outside of Sydney you usually end up with the NRMA mechanic anyway). Plus last time I checked Allianz was cheaper.

Good to know thanks. I have been with RACQ for 20 years but they used to employ mechanics and now don't seem to do so anymore (still lovely and helpful but not very knowledgeable), they also don't carry readers for cars older than 10 years so if they don't know much about cars and can't read what the issue is they can't give you much in the way of advice after a breakdown. Like if it's safe to drive to mechhanic or need tow and they just 🤷‍♀️. Just finding them less useful these days and they used to be so great. Will look into allianz

      • I had the NRMA come out for a hire car recently because it had made strange noises. The guy turned up, said the problem was too complicated for roadside assistance (without actually looking at the car) and said I had to get it towed.

I've also found the NRMA call centre staff to be quite rude and unhelpful.

I also had very bad experiences with NRMA and their Motor Serve affiliates. If you only have a flat battery, don't let them push you into buying one of their new batteries. Always google the battery for your car online for at least a 30% discount. I thought the whole point of signing up to NRMA was for them to buy batteries in bulk and pass on the savings to members. But no, NRMA simply exist to maximise profits for their shareholders. And always get a second quote for any Motor Serve fee quote, they quoted nearly 50% more for a fuel pump repair than my local mechanic. Outrageous!
