  • Can someone tell us why all of a sudden the prices are falling?
No more chip shortages? 4xxx series cards coming soon?

    • The way I see it is that these are coming to EoL as the 4xxx series come out. Also crypto crashing a bit has helped lessen miners buying gpu’s.

      • +2

pretty sure the 4xxx is still at least 6 months away, so not sure that will be affecting prices yet. I think you are spot on with greater supply available due to less demand from miners.

        • Maybe also the potential drops of Intel's gpu?

    • I don't think it is 4XXX related, far from, the demand for GPUs has always been higher than supply. There can be many reasons but none have surfaced to why.
ASUS were 1st to slash 25% then others followed suite, then we saw retailers on eBay selling out in a day with volumes of up to 100 of 1 line. This was only accelerated by the AfterPay sale of 15% so makes the whole GPU buy much more attractive.
17/03/22 will go down in history as one of the biggest days for GPUs in a long time.
Pricing in the US is still more expensive than Australia it appears too.

      • Biggest GPU sale in probably since Xmas 2020
        .. I remember getting a 1660 Super for something's like 250-300

Then they climbed up to like $600 6 months later

This is why people who are saying HOLD or w/e will be missing out, it's an opportunity to get a GPU at close to retail or just a tad under and not FOMO on next gen. No one knows what will happen with 4XXX series, price, PSU requirements and availability.
AP day sale and GPU 25% slashes aligned perfectly and what a coincidence it was, AfterPay never knew at all that GPUs would be cut by 25%, right place and right time.

Nvidia has flooded the market with STOCK.. they have deliberately been holding back to keep prices inflated.. but due to demand slowing down and inflation eating into peoples "fun money" they have released stock and slashed prices by %25 in Australia

        • No this is not what has happened. nVidia isn't the ones releasing the stock, it's ASUS and Gigabyte along some other partners.
It was ASUS who 1st slashed prices by 25%, others followed suite. Anything other than a reference card is NOT released by nVidia, I never saw any vanillas for sale so nVidia had nothing to do with $ drops at all or your suggestion of holding back to keep prices inflated.

Where did you get all this info from?

    • +1

there is never a chip shortage, at least for GPU. retailers, wholesalers and even the manufacturers created that illusion to increase profits. Most of cards went directly to the miners.

    • eth hash rate is shit hence reduced demand,,, now over supply

  • 3090 ti to be thrown into the stack too so they can compress the line up

As a great man once said, "Tell'em to get stuffed!".

Regardless of what you overpaid 12 months, this is not a deal.

    • please share a cheaper price then..

      • If you can get an Xbox SX or PS5 for $750, these cards have plenty of room to fall in the next months.

        • +4

PLEASE tell me you are not trying to compare a 3090 to a PS5 or series x?
they are not even close to being comparable.

          • -1

@Axelstrife: As a final product the console>3090 period.
You can use the console as a stop gap solution is possibly what they're referring to till further drops.

          • @Axelstrife: No, but until recently people were paying hundreds more for a 3060 than a PS5.
My point being that video cards in general will most likely continue to fall, including the 3090.

  • Righto

Nice price. Still haven't seen someone sell a 3090 for $3090, shame.

Or you could get this one…

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265573508145?epid=4041878977&has…

for $2772.00 from scorptec on Ebay… assuming your afterpay credit stretches that far or you have the gift cards to compensate.

    • Same card $300 cheaper - well played

      • Yeah… but not so easy to do with afterpay.

    • OOS doesn't matter

      • -1

        Wasn't when I posted it.

  • 2770 on eBay.

  • ALmost 2 yr old GPU, still at MSRP. Let that sink in. Wait for 4000 series.

  • obsolete hardware at scam prices

    • Not really and both your points are wrong… Haha why the sour grapes? It's the cheapest this model has been since launch, $3400-3500 for this model at day 1…

      • A fully unlocked GH102 has 3 times the transistor count and comes out in Q3 2024.

3090 is obsolete, get with the times, end of story.

        • Q3 is a long time away, no one has confirmed the transistor count and no one knows the pricing. I've got at least 6 months of work to do before new cards drop…

  • You sound like a bit of a toss
