  • Miners are not buying anymore, go gamers go

    • Hold hold hold, new card coming end of year with less then half of the price for the same performance. Like 3070 = 2080 ti situation.

  • Pokemon, catch em while you can.

    • You helped me with the other card. This is more in my budget. Any good?

      • Yes this is a great GPU for the $, which other GPU were you looking at?

        • I'm not up on the latest GPUs. What's the best ATM for under $1000?

          • +1

@R4: This by far, others are more expensive and do the same thing, now you might have to consider AMD too but if you do any sort of content creation, nVidia stomps AMD.
This comes with 4 years warranty via online registration.

            • @[Deactivated]: Thank you. I do a bit of gaming but not much. I'm starting flying lessons so have been using MS Flight Simulator but also do some strategy gaming like Civ 6. For productivity I do CAD and 3D modelling (there are dedicated cards for that but I'm not interested). My wife uses Photoshop and Lightroom.

Do you think this price will go lower? Although not too bothered by that as I need a machine in the next few weeks.

              • +2

@R4: This GPU will be perfect without blowing the budget.
CUDA isn't 100% perf related to Adobe products but it helps.
It likes blender and CAD so the MS Flight sim will be at home with the 3070Ti too.
The difference between the 3070 and Ti is the GDDR6X VRAM which has more bandwidth which will come in handy for specific programs, games not so much.

I don't see the $ coming down further as that would mean a 40% reduction if equaling today's pricing which is Manufacturers drop of 25% and Afterpay sale of 15%.

    • Hey Tommy sorry to bother, if I am only gaming 1440p without any serious rendering is a rtx 3070 better or is the cost so close you might as well opt for 3070ti?

Would the ti version help with photo editing / video editing?

      • Just my 2c.

Based on today's price, I'd recommend 3070Ti. The 3070 is $925 today (sellers jacked up the price from yesterday).

3070 to 3070ti performance is ~5% better for 1% ($10) dearer. The downside is that Ti consume 70W more power.

I went with 3070 yesterday because it was ~$80 cheaper.

        • Under-voting will drop that 70w and keep same or better fps.

      • Missed this, ok for video editing it is definitely a solid GPU. That GDDR6X VRAM is why the extra 70 watts kicks in with the slight OC too.
If you have Davinci Resolve, this GPU will love it, you need the paid version of the software but it beats using the free version as it fully supports CUDA.
Adobe on the other hand is subscription based where this is one payment, full life time free upgrades.
That's where the extra bandwidth of the VRAM bests the 3070 and for the extra $80 imo it is well worth it.

      • Any NVIDIA GPU from the 16, 20 and 30 series - with the exception of the original RTX 1650 - will perform identically for the purposes of image and photo editing, with maybe the tiniest lag for lower end cards on 3D renders.

If you're going to go hard on 3D effects, raytracing, pathtracing or use things like Blender, it's a different story, and you need to look into your software suite to see how GPU rendering impacts your workflow.

All of those cards use an identical encoder design (NVENC), and it only uses a very small amount of shaders or bandwidth for the purpose. RTX 40 series should - almost definitely will - offer an updated encoder with hardware AV1 encode, and that's due in September.

Prices are going to continue to drop, going even harder from mid-June onwards.

For the purpose of 1440p 16:9 gaming at 144Hz, the RTX 3060 Ti goes just fine, and is even good for competitive games if you want to run 1440p 240Hz.

omg is this the wall of gpu's i'm seeing right now, or will there be an even bigger wall

    • Notice how quickly these deals went out of stock, I think bottom is very near

      • yup crypto markets also feel uppy

I am detecting a hidden bullish divergence on BTC weekly chart

          • @Scythic: have a feeling they should slam it down once more over the next year or 2, feels too easy lol

            • @abctoz: In the long term, you wouldn't want to hold BTC when the world order changes

              • +1

@Scythic: i like his theories but no one is always right ser

the US still owns teh biggest payment network, biggest communication network via big tech, easily defensible land, fertile lands, biggest military, leading research institutions, most military bases around the world, hard working population etcetc can't see them doing too badly despite what people think right now

btc feels like a good hedge but was probably created by some US government agency like the CIA for a purpose, probably to further entrench US power, but time will tell

                • @abctoz: You could make the same argument that BTC was used to weaken the US power and monetary system. But yeah, time will tell.
BTC is still safe haven for the next 5 years imo. But after that, who knows

                  • @Scythic: it can't weaken them simply because they hold the majority stake, ie they control the market

  • I just read that Nvidia has officially dropped prices on their 3x cards so it would drop further.

    • No they haven't they did previously but it's the manufacturers who just did a 25% drop specifically ASUS, Gigabyte has followed suite right after. This is in Australia only.

I've got a 2070 Super….would this be worth an upgrade? Predominately do gaming and creative multimedia (adobe suite etc…)

    • +1

This is more like a 2080Ti in perf. If not better. We can't answer if that's worth it to you, too many variables.

    • Same question.

    • yah depends on what kind of gaming.. but yes like above said, this is a big step up from what you got

  • What do i do if i paid $2500 for a 3080 5 weeks ago?

    • +1

      Cry.

      User name checks out.

Got a 2070 super and was hoping to upgrade since I got the AW3423DW.. Super tempted to get either this or the 3080. Should I just HODL for the 4060?

    • with the way the market has been the last 3 (+?) years (greedy nvidia etc), at this point i've skipped 20 and 30 series. getting by on a 1030. i'd be waiting to see what comes with 40 series. though, i guess can expect ridiculous prices so probably just time to give up gaming/mining.

  • Is there a way to pay afterpay all in one go instead of the 4 seperate payments?

    • Yeah, just do the order then manually pay the amount via the app/ website afterwards.

    • Yeah just afterpay it as normal then log into afterpay and you will see the following 3 payments, just click pay now on all of them

    • do you guys know if i also can use gift cards with afterpay aswell

      • Yes

  • +1

People have to realise this price is with Afterpay 15% discount. Gigabyte only reduces the price to $1099 recently. So after this Afterpay discount ends this Sunday (20/3/2022), the price will revert back to $1099 next week, before it probably gets reduced back down to $900 again later on.

    • So does afterpay subsidise this. Must have a money printing machine?

      • Banking on failed payments, fees etc.

        • No they're not, they make their money from sellers, not buyers.

  • +1

    $900+ for only 8GB 👎

  • Good evening guys,
