[Unobtainable Deal] The Adventures of Tintin collection (23 Books) $98 Delivered @ bookvault Fishpond Australia

Moved to Forum: Original Link

The cheapest it has even been (from what I can see). I just ordered one for myself. Have bought from Fishpond before and in my experience, they've been great.
And you can complete your collection by getting the Tintin in the Congo from Amazon for $27.47 :-)
Another potential advantage of buying from these guys is that the dimensions appear to be slightly bigger which should help with the smallish font used in these books; It is published by Egmont (18.4 x 27.2 x 33.8 cm) as opposed to buying from Amazon for example which is published by Farshore (18 x 22.5 x 33.5 cm).
Enjoy!

Mod: Orders are being refunded. Moved to forums.

Potentially dumb question, but is the following the same but in hardback form?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Tintin-Collection-Compact-Editions…

    • +2

No the red hardback ones in your link are tiny. Difficult to read the text.

    • Same content, but the hardback compact editions you linked to are very small compared to the paperback versions. I don't find them enjoyable to read by comparison

    • That is the compact edition which means the comic is printed on half the size of the normal books

    • I bought these and they are comparatively very smaller compared to the big ones. They are hardcover though.

    • Thank you all for your responses!

      • So to be sure, the small one's aren't ideal?

        • +1

Correct, they might be more convenient to store or carry around but a strain on the eyes.

  • +1

Looks like it cannot ship to Australia apparently

    • The listing says 'Free shipping Australia wide'; I just ordered them and have received an acknowledgement too.

      • Hey . .. did your order get cancelled too?

    • Ordered few minutes ago. worked fine with free delivery . email confirmation received.

  • +1

Price shows as $153 for me

    • same here

    • Incorrect comment. Showing -9 now.

  • Looks like it was a price error - back to $153 :(

  • Sorry guys, appears to have been Ozbargained!

BILLIONS OF BLUE BLISTERING BARNACLES, I MISSED OUT!!!

    • +1

You didn’t. I ordered this book set from Fishpond 2 months ago, from this exact seller. Fishpond informed me that this seller is unreliable and returned my money. And that the listing will be removed, not sure why it’s still there.

  • Disappointed I missed this one!

  • +13

Expired before the Congo discussions began. Popcorn set aside for another time.

    • +1

I really hate how they represented Snowy in that one, Fox Terrier's do not bite people as often as that book says.

      • +3

I don’t think you’re allowed to use the word ‘Snowy’ anymore.

  • I always found fishpond to be much dearer than almost everywhere. Theyve come up in a few Google searches over the years, and often double the price of other results.

Good luck for those that got it though…

  • OMG………

  • +1

Next Tintin bargain please :( I want to start a collection as well.

  • Bummer…should have seen it earlier…missed it.

  • Snoozed and lost doh. This was my buy price.

  • Are these newer releases edited or still the same as the classics?
I know they heavily edited the TV cartoons, removing all signs of alcohol based humour.

    PS
No referring to Congo. I'm aware of the history there.

  • argh missed it

  • Stang! Missed out

  • +8

I wish the Asterix series was available at a similar price point.

  • kampret sompret monyet! i missed it!

  • popsiee on 09/05/2021 - 17:03
I'm with you its not a limited edition or anything special . The owners of the IP are probably worried about the Chinese who probably are already mass producing it for peanuts getting a share of the profits .
Surely for $200 they can at least afford hard cover lol :)
I can guarantee one thing this is heading south dramatically .

Good buying back then and heading to $40-$50 . Sucker buy
Peope need to learn about unlimited reprints one day .

  • This site is known for shipping delays ..

  • price is back at $98 !!!!

  • not working :(

  • +1

Got it for $108. $10 heavy delivery fee.

Still better than some of the prices other members are getting!

(Inputting any additional coupon codes will make the price jump up 3x times)

    • Just got refunded with an email saying

"I got got and instead of honouring it, I'm gonna be a little baby and use the tools at my disposal to reverse the transaction."

      Bookvault sucks.

    Got it now for 98$

      Thanks Op, got one!

    • +3

When I go to checkout, it goes from 98 —> $200+. Be careful when you pay that it's the $98 advertised.

      • +1

Same here, so weird. Have they run out of quota of selling at $98?

        • Fishpond is also a marketplace and the $98 listing was sold by "bookvault", when their allocation sells out it just reverts back to the next cheapest vendor.

    • Missed it again.

    • One day I'll snag one

      • Try now

    • +2

Missed again - the price changed to $200 the moment I added to the cart.

    • I hope somebody someday makes these watchable in VR standing right next to TinTin and feeling like we are almost there :)

    • Great deal

      • Don't worry the distributors are flooding the market its going to pop up multiple places this price.

    • Damn no one mention Tin Tin in Congo this time. I'm disappointed V_V

      • "We are contacting you regarding your recent order xxx from SellYours Seller [email protected].

Unfortunately, we have discovered a problem with this seller and have taken the preventive measure of revoking their selling privileges while we work through a solution with them. This means we have cancelled Tintin Paperback Boxed Set 23 titles from your order."

    • Sites a bit glitchy, added to cart then change the address details, price jacked up to $199 then remove and redo again, says not available. Retry again and it works. Werd site.

      • bizzare… i was lucky and didn't have any such issues. But i also haven't seen the payment come from my bank account, so i dunno what is going on.

    • Out of stock again. Missed it 3 times now.

  • Anyone else get a confirmation email but not have the money leave their account?

    • +1

nothing from my account either…but good thing is order status changed from received to processing…so fingers crossed!

      • where do you see this?

        • my account / my orders / product status

          • @blu7e: thanks.. mine is currently "Order Received" so we'll see.

            when did you order yours?

            • +1

@12kahs: 2 days ago…I’ll let you know if anything change

              • @blu7e: mine just changed to "On order" and payment has now gone through

                • @12kahs: Cool!.. was worried they might not honor their deals after reading some reviews. Hopefully mine gets processed as well.

  • Finally picked one up as well after my third attempt in 3 days!

  • Awesome. Thanks ! Just ordered. Something for my sons 6 and 10 to enjoy - as well as me - as well as my daughter, 11, possibly. Fantastic. I buy eBooks these days - the kids have eReaders - and I have the digital downloads of these - but graphic books are best enjoyed in hard copy. Brilliant !

  • got one, I had to first create an account, add to cart and then checkout for it to work. quite strange.

  • Just grabbed one a few minutes ago. Seems to be constantly coming back. But has anyone actually received one yet?

    • I just ordered… then cancelled. I put the order through, was $98 the whole time…then suddenly when I hit accept on the final page it went to like $207… Did yours stay $98?

      • Yep it was $98 the whole way through and still shows $98 in the order history page. FWIW I paid via Afterpay.

Dodgy seller (as was reported by @TonyRockyHorror earlier) - just received this:

We are contacting you regarding your recent order from SellYours Seller [email protected].

Unfortunately, we have discovered a problem with this seller and have taken the preventive measure of revoking their selling privileges while we work through a solution with them. This means we have cancelled Tintin Paperback Boxed Set 23 titles from your order.

We do sincerely apologise for this. Your refund will be processed within the next 2-3 working days. If you have paid by bank transfer, please make sure your account details are correct https://www.fishpond.com.au/bank_accounts.php

    Kind regards,

    Kim

    • Had to contact them yesterday to get this refund, surely that FishPond would have been aware of this.

Not going to buy from these guys again.

  • Ordered this morning. Got emails saying order was successful. Just now have received a followup email stating:

Unfortunately, we have discovered a problem with this seller and have taken the preventive measure of revoking their selling privileges while we work through a solution with them. This means we have cancelled Tintin Paperback Boxed Set 23 titles from your order.

    • Same for me. The dream is over.

      • Too bad, me too. All good, I paid with Afterpay, so nothing came out from my bank/ credit card account.

    • sigh. same.

  • Order got cancelled

  • I'm sad . . Have been looking forward to buying this for a while :(

  • My order got cancelled, in the email fishpond said "Unfortunately, we have discovered a problem with this seller and have taken the preventive measure of revoking their selling privileges while we work through a solution with them. This means we have cancelled Tintin Paperback Boxed Set 23 titles from your order." no luck this time for me

  • Did anyone actually get it delivered ?

  • No communication from the fulfiller till today. Contacted Fishpond to chase them up or process a refund.

  • Well I got the order cancelled but they still charging my afterpay account. Wtf…
