They are just normal prices but they are good quality!

    • Yeah paid $10.99 for the blue masks in December and August last year. Much better quality than anything else I've tried so far for that type of mask.

      • +1

        Yeah comfortable too

      • Ah, from memory I bought mine for $13.99 in Jan this year?
Anyway, but still good buy considering the top quality.

  • +1

Thanks to OP's experiences, I ordered a few boxes

  • These are Taiwanese made. We survived the pandemic with them, but in recent batches they get quite strong smell.

    • Might need to open the box and let it breath for a couple of days!
Most individually packed ones have the smell too.

  • Any way to get rid of the $10 delivery fee?

    • Try ordering 2 boxes.

    • +1

Delivery is free if you buy 2 boxes or more

      • +2

        Thanks! Verified and updated!

From memory, it's free delivery for any orders over $25 dollars.

  • I've seen reports that the pink ones (maybe the blue ones too?) fit slightly smaller than most surgical masks. Can anyone confirm?

    • I find the blue Detmold ones a little big, depends how big your face is I guess

  • Got 2 boxes in December. Awesome quality and fit. Highly rate them.

Unfortunately, the courier company is shithouse.

    • Really? I’ve ordered about 8 boxes of these over the last 2 years and they’ve always done within 2-3 days.

They also had great N95 masks that no longer appear to be stocked, which is a shame.

      • Oh had the courier company done the right thing I would have had it in 2 days - the company selling these are fantastic and dispatch very quickly. However one of the delivery drivers covering my area was apparently taking on more than he could deliver. Whatever he couldn't do that day he would mark as delivered on the courier's system and then take home to deliver on another day. Problem was he was flaky and would only show up to work on certain days, and then would take on even more and keep doing the same thing, so his undelivered backlog just kept growing and growing. After few weeks of investigating the courier company finally found this out and arranged for other drivers to take care of those parcels. I'm told eventually everyone got their parcels - he wasn't stealing thankfully - but still bloody tardy behavior for a courier company. I mean, you had one job….

    • who was the courier and did your order come with a tracking number?

  • +3

Why bother if they aren’t N95s? Buy 7x N95s and you can reuse them, let them air out between each use and swap them daily.

    • +7

Agreed. At this point, if you're not using N95 you're wasting your money.

      • +1

Masks mostly help to reduce spreading aerosols to others if you cough/sneeze - unless they are sealed wouldn't fully protect the wearer, just works both ways to an extent if everyone has one on. Those N95 are a bit over the top and not that breathable.
The symptoms are next to nothing anyway if you've had the jab/booster, as usual just the oldies cop it.

People just need to use them at their own discretion like other asian cultures, but most people don't care or selfish.

Unfortunately, cloth masks are not effective at reducing transmission. (https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abi9069) This study has now been corrected because the raw data got released. 3 groups looked at the raw data and it didn’t look like cloth reduced transmission. And even surgical masks actually was much less than originally said in the interpretation of the Bangladesh RCT in villages.

This changes if N95 masks are used. (https://www.pnas.org/content/118/49/e2110117118). They found that if an infected person is in direct contact with somebody else for 20 minutes, the risk of transmission with surgical masks was 10.4%. With an N95 without a nose piece it was 4.2%. And an N95 with a nose piece, in other words, a good seal, 0.14%

The only people still wearing masks are those that have to or people who care about reducing transmission. If you're in either of those camps, why not use the effective option.

          • @lemewinks: I have to say though, that a lot of people who purchase N95/P2/KN95 masks don't have them fit properly. I've even seen some people wear them over a luscious beard…

          • -4

@lemewinks: You can't use one study to overturn scientific consensus and there is no correlation to support your conclusion in the real world.

            • +1

@Diji1: I'm not sure if you've been living under a rock or not but it's not 2020 anymore. The current scientific consensus is that cloth masks are ineffective. My source for that comment is The Drive Podcast with Dr. Peter Attia #192 https://peterattiamd.com/covid-part2/. Find me someone more qualified to speak on this than Dr. Monica Gandhi, an infectious disease specialist and Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Who has been involved in MANY mask studies over the past two years.

        • Guess what…I wear mask when I go outside. Yesterday a driver (tradie) who talked to me "No mask, need fresh air" when he drove pass me, of course he did not have mask on his face.
I thought he is so ridiculous, that's why so many people got infected when go to shopping. I will keep wearing mask until end of year.

          • @RickyNelson: Typical Australian are fools.

They watched Murdoch claim that the virus was fake for over 12 months.

And then kept watching after it called them bozos for protesting the fake virus.

          • @RickyNelson: If you go to Bunnings, almost 100% tradies don’t wear a mask…
If you go to supermarkets, about 50% of people would wear a mask.
I will keep wearing mask indoors until it’s over, my kids are not yet vaccinated.

            • @mrgeckoz: Yeah good to use your own sensibility and assess it for yourself. Pointless wearing outside in the fresh air (and see people wearing them cycling which is ridiculous), could still be worth it in a crowded lift or other settings.

Shouldn't even need them if the 2x shots and booster works lol

Most people don't wear them with a good fit/seal touch everything the touch face, take them on and off.. bit pointless

              • @G-rig: Vaccs are effective in reducing seriousness but not much in reducing the chance of getting infected…if you are infected with minimal symptoms you still carry the virus and very likely to pass it onto the vulnerable/unvaccinated members within the family.

                • +1

@mrgeckoz: Yeah I'm aware of that, but it's but it's not what the Gov was telling everyone to start with to try and make everyone get it.

Anyway as you said the seriousness isn't really anything worth worrying about for the majority of people (less symptoms than the common cold and faster recovery).

I'm triple vaxxed but the thing is neither really Work

          • @RickyNelson: Donning a mask before leaving the house and only doffing upon returning to your house is the recommended method for mask management. Infection often occurs thanks to people constantly doffing and then donning their mask, resulting in a poorer fit and seal and contamination from touching the mask with your hands all the time.

Ignore the louts on the street or those giving you shit while driving. They're clueless. Let them catch it and deal with all the fun, long-term neurological effects.

        • KN95 duckbills are very breathable. Surgical masks protect only against droplets. They are insufficient against airborne and aerosol. A poorly-fitted N95 is markedly better than a surgical mask. The 6.1 million people who have died from COVID would vehemently disagree with this dismissal of the symptoms. Go catch it few more times and come back to us. You won't always be lucky.

          • @daitro: What KN95 duckbills would you recommend? I bought 3 of the 3M N95 masks, and they're such an incredibly tight seal, it was pretty unpleasant to wear (and I totally get a tight seal is part of the effectiveness, but if I start gagging and beginning to feel nauseous after not wearing it for too long, that's not a solution either - there's no way I could do what doctors and nurses are doing and wear it all day, if it felt like that). I can only do it for short periods, which means I'm taking it off as soon as I can, and putting it back on when needed, which as you say, isn't great either - whereas I can and do wear a surgical mask for hours and hours. I would like to switch to N95 level of protection, that can be worn for a while and comfortably. If it was a good price that would be great, but at this stage I'm prioritizing effectiveness + wear-ability over getting the best price. Recommendations most welcome.

Masks aren't about protecting from COVID - they are about compliance and protecting from fines.

    • +1

Can u recommend any good place to buy genuine ones pls

  • +2

Hardly see people are wearing mask now.

    • +5

Hence the sudden spike in daily COVID cases Aust wide. No or less masks with relaxed restrictions.accompanied by the inevitable variant. But hey, gotta do something at some point…
If you are going to wear a mask though, at least use an N95 and provide yourself some protection. These provide the wearer with minimal protection.

It's because most people have woken up to the C0nvid narrative. Especially since the mockingbird media has shifted people's focus towards the Ukraine-Russia conflict. The same people who claim "we must free the people of Ukraine" are the same ones saying " we should lock away the unvaxed." What about the Ukrainian refugees escaping their countries? Shouldn't they put masks on and get vaxxed following the logic from most comments here?

Still, we see the odd 20% to 30% people walking around with face nappies (even while driving in their cars) these days. Have you wondered why you no longer haver to wear masks or not have to QR in most places, even though the cases are still high? Or do you follow rules without questioning anything?

PS. Look up mockingbird media and start learning from there.

It's still a requirement in WA.

In fact COVID Transition (Face Covering) Directions (No 4) does define a "Face covering means a disposable surgical mask or fitted cloth mask that covers the
nose and mouth (but does not include a face shield)."

For anyone who wants to read the rules https://www.wa.gov.au/system/files/2022-03/COVID-Transition-…

They change Direction 2 to Direction 4 since you weren't actually allowed to take your mask off in a dentist at the hopistal.

      8.m. is a nice exemption.

I would not recommend this style of mask to people at the moment, it's better than nothing but do yourself a favour and use n95/kf94 or a material mask that has good filters (not those rectangle crap filters that claim to be n95, they are rubbish)

  • +1

thought u need at least lvl 3 or the best n95 to even be effective…

      These look good
6200 16 IN 1 Full Face Gas Mask Chemical Paint Spray Vapor Respirator Reusable

Probably just better off catching it at some point, like most people no doubt will and not worry about it.

    • +1

Level 3 refers to blood penetration resistance (and differential pressure which is for breathability) and applies to flat, surgical masks.
N95 refers to respirators, which have a tight fit around the face (when fitted correctly) and filter out a smaller particle size. For protection to yourself and others, a respirator is required.

  • Nice one OP going rate is $15

  • get level 3 masks from chemist warehouse
    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/102313/softmed-surgi…

    • -6
      1. Did you bother to check your link before hitting post? They're out of stock.
      2. You should only be purchasing KN95 & N95.

You may as well not wear a mask if you're going to use surgical.

      • -2

        plenty of stock in store

  • add 2 boxes still got charged for shipping?

  • Mine arrived today, so fast lol. Thanks again OP

  • Just got the mask delivered. Super quick delivery.
Quality is bad. Feels very thin. Almost the same as the Werkomed masks that are about $7 for 50. Feels about half the thickness of the $19.99 ones you buy from Chemist warehouse.

    • Sounds like a complete different product compared to everyone else’s feedback…

      • I had my hopes up. In the end you get what you pay for. It is better than the cheap ones shipped from China on ebay and amazon. Those ones are unusable.

    • Did you buy the blue or pink ones?

      • Blue ones.

  • Doesn't Seem like the free shipping worked, where does it say anywhere on their site about it?

Bought 2 blues and 1 pink box and was still $10 shipping.

    • Just had a quick look, it is now free shipping for 5 boxes.

      • oh ok, where did you see this?

        • Add 5 boxes and go to checkout.

  • +2

Comment on the quality. I got a few boxes of the blue and pink, I’ve used the blue ones and the quality was superior. One of the best ones I’ve used since I started wearing them. Metal wire is very good quality too

  • Have purchased from these guys multiple times, I can vouch for postage speed, price and quality. All of them are top-notch and these are the masks I have trusted through the lockdown.

  • ordered thanks OP.

  • Note you can only order 3 pink. So if you wanted pink you need to order 3 pink and 2 blue if you want to get free delivery.

  • Mine arrived today (ordered 5 days ago, decent relivery time)
i just tried it on and it seems comfortable so far, will reply to this with an update tomorrow as i will be wearing at work so i can see how well it is after prolonged use

    • +1

okay i wore it for 8 hours today and it is the best face mask i have ever tried
fits well on the face (not too small like some), the wire across the nose gives a very secure fit when adjusted and doesnt come loose or move at all, the mask itself also stays stable when talking/chewing gum
0 negatives i can say about this, very good price for a very good mask

      • Thanks for the review. Was this the blue one? Saw a couple of comments that the pink ones might be smaller than your usual surgical face mask.

        • yeah it was blue

      • Glad to hear! So glad that I helped!

    • Assuming working days it used to be order today. Pack tomorow. Recieve today. I also live in Perth. I had this happen 5 times previously.

I order mine on Sunday and recieved Auspost confirmation it in Sydney on Monday and expected delivery is tomorow.

I wonder if they have change the speed of courier service or if Startrack and Auspost has delays.

    • That's good, the Detmold blue ones feel too big for me (but the thinner white community ones are good). If anything wouldn't mind a smaller fit (but ain't getting pink.

  • i havent received it yet, ordered on 22nd. :( am in WA.

    • just received it.

  • On the fence about buying 2 boxes, I still have an unopened box of masks but I wonder how long this deal will last, perhaps til sold out?

    • Face mask supply is normal now, so maybe endless stock?…as many mentioned, this is normal price…

  • The price is exactly the same as when I bought it ages ago but now the free shipping minimum went up. Used to be free ship with $20 spend
