  • All gone in sydney too, people have been lining up since 4:30am. 150 per day it seems.

    • I don’t know why they’d bother. Swatch confirmed they will be sold online in the coming weeks direct.

No doubt 90% are just trying to flip.

      • Good news, can you show us a link please?

        • They’ve posted something like that outside a Swatch shop in Hong Kong, haven’t seen anything like that from a local Australian store.

          • @mini2: Hong Kong has suspended ALL swatch sales and shut down their stores due to crowds violating COVID-19 restrictions. A group of young watch enthusiasts had an altercation while in line and alerted the authorities. Hong Kong Swatch stores closed until further notice.

            • @moto: lol even blind Freddy could’ve figured out people will be lining up, Covid or not…

      • It's really down to how fast the supply catches up to demand. Australia is not going to ever have the lion's share of stock allocations and coupled with shipping distance/covid slowdown, it will be a while and as long as demand outstrips supply theres money on the table for scalpers.

Those who lined up at 2am didn't get one too. Plenty of stories going around.

      • Security letting people in through the parking lot for $80 "parking fee".
      • People got to go inside the mall prior to the shutter opening.
      • Riot squad had to be involved.
      • Some are selling them already for $1000 outside the moment they got it.
  • Selling for $1,000 plus on eBay now

Why has this one got 19 bids for $10,000?

    What am I missing?

    • +1

Because everyone hates a scalper. His auction will fall through

    • eBay bidding has gone crazy on these watches. Now that you mention it, I wonder if all these bids are fake accounts. Just like with the GPUs. Maybe someone will put cardboard watches up next lol

      • But you can get a deal! Take $300 off this item with the code PRECTC7 /s

    • Holy Shieet its at 50k now.

No one can blame pandemic logistics, its just bots for everything. :/

Will everyone need their own personal bot to just purchase a regular item in the future?

    • Costs more than an actual Speedy… yeah probably don't think so.

You can go on StockX and look at the actual transactions. They are changing hands for around $800AUD

Since its not actually limited, the price is really dependent on supply catching up. For Australia that can be a while, given the covid supply chain slowdown & less allocation than major markets etc, but eventually it will come down to near rrp.

  • “We are delighted to see the interest in the BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch collection.
Due to the unexpected and phenomenal demand, we are obliged to limit the purchase to one watch per person for the time being. We will revert back to two watches per person as soon as possible. The watches are not limited and will be available in selected Swatch Stores, also in the future.“

  • Hope I can get a Moon or Mercury one once they start releasing more online.

i went to chadstone …saw the line and left ….it’s.not a limited edition and $380 for a plastic watch isn’t a bargian, it’s a bit of fun ….looked at the demographic …..not watch people, think, people caught in hype to make a buck …..didn’t see. many watches on the wrists of those waiting inline ……..

at the omega shop people lined thinking smarter than the sheep at the swatch shop as omega shop had them in the window …..so people get turned w away after waiting inline outside omega shop …. i just wanted aljnk for my seamaster……need to go to another store or order and wait ……

plebs buying quartz movements to feel richer then they really are.

    • +1

don’t think the quartz movement is an issue ….. longings and many other brands have quartz models, omega seamaster used to come as a quartz…..always accurate and batteries are cheap ……i think with the swatch moonwatch it’s the case ……it’s plastic which isn’t ideal for the chrono buttons , or the crown ……but it’s the only way i guess to get the odours …. and people probabaly won’t use the chrono buttons and only need crown once a year to adjust the time ……….

    • This has a quartz movement.

Doesn't make me feel 'rich' either

  • People in the queue were offering $1200 for it in Sydney, insane.

    • nice to see people with cash again rather than credit cards ….

  • How is this a bargain?

Objectively it's no cheaper than RRP, nor is it good value for a watch offering from a subjective point of view.

This also fails the ozbargain litmus test when compared to other watches at the same pricepoint.

Edit: I do like the mission to uranus.

  • I mean the good thing out of all of this is that it's not limited edition.

So just let the scalpers have their fun and let the people who have too much money spend it lol.

But regardless even at $380 I still think it's overpriced, but that's because I'm not a diehard fan.

I bought one yesterday at Pitt St Mall. Sold it to someone waiting in-line for $1200 because they wanted it.

    • tidy profit lol…how early were you lining up?

    • +2

I don’t know who to blame, scalpers or the person who paid $1200 for the watch. A bit like chicken or the egg here…who’s actually responsible for this behaviour.

      • +2

Surely it's the people who pay well over. If nobody would pay more than retail then no scalping.

        Thinking about it
Swatch should have engraved names on every watch bought or something. Buy show your I'd and pick up in a few days

        • But that won't generate desirability and thirst. Thats all these companies care about anything that increases more sales in the long run.

        • Should see other watch brands. Rolex, Patek, Audemars, VC… some selling for many hundreds of thousands over RRP.

          Crazy times we live in.

  • is this still available in store? (ie, do they restock it everyday?)

    • I think restocking comes in batches. I walk past that store every few days as I work in the city and there is nobody queuing up, and yet the prices online are still above RRP which means resellers knows when to line up when it does restock. My guess is that Swatch Aust gets it delivered by air (from Switzerland or whatever regional distribution hub) which might explain the sporadic but low unit count restocks.

I'll just be patient with this one. The secondary market prices are falling steadily, at least for the one I'm interested in (Mars).

This post is not a deal, and swatch has confirmed they'll be available online shortly. Why is this on here?

    • They’ve retracted this statement. They should be back in stores though.

    • +1

      This comment didn’t age well

  • does anyone know when they will restock ?

  • Its ridiculous that you can buy an Omega easier than a Swatch…

    • Wait until they sell a real Omega for under $500 and see how easy it is to buy
