I returned a product and my apple balance is stuck, How can I withdraw it. Apple denies the request to withdraw. Outside apple there can be many deals like this

    • +1

If you use a gift card, then your refund goes back into your gift card balance. Nothing you can do, but buy another product with the credit.

    • nah mate. you're stuck on the apple ship now.

      • -3

So unhappy with apple. Biggest mistake buying from apple directly. There will be situation where u might not like the product and money is stuck. Ship doesn't sink or let me sink

        • +2

Try price matching with this deal at Apple Store?

        • +6

The issue isn't with Apple retail stores, the issue is you decided to use gift cards to pay (presumably to save some money). It's a pretty standard gift card policy to lock you into that payment form, otherwise what is the point of gift cards?

              @Mighty man:

What happens of you never want to buy an apple product

Nothing happens - your balance just sits there forever, no worries.

          • @CaptainHoltisDad: Is it possible to sell the gift cards if I ask gift cards in return?

            • +1

@Mighty man: Read the terms and conditions. It sounds like you tried to save money and now don't like the conditions on which you signed up to an offer too.

            • @Mighty man: Not if they've been added to your Apple account balance. Once there, the money needs to be spent on Apple devices, apps or services. You won't be able to get that back as cash. There would most probably be AML/CTF impacts too.

@Icecold5000: Not sure if he's pissed about being able to pirate software. Seems he wants to install Windows 11 without Parallels. Can be a pretty big deal breaker, I want an M1 Mac, but my workflows with my MB require me to run VMs and Windows natively.

The guy could potentially not be the brightest cookie but let's not misrepresent what the poor guy said.

            • @Gh101: He actually wrote that. Maybe the solution is to get a refurbished intel max from The Apple store and install windows via boot camp. Could have a shot at running his pirated wearz

    • +1

Why buy with gift card in the first place? Unfortunately no way to refund gift card balance, not just Apple but everywhere, very sorry for your loss.

Mac is not for everyone, especially now with their own SoC/CPU, we have been here way back before the first Intel Mac… Honestly Mac could have been made popular with the Intel switch but now as they parted, only time will tell if they can continue to gain market share.

Perhaps to consider this as a warning for those wanting to buy Mac.

  • I wish I saved for this instead of the standard M1 MBP.

    • +2

Why may I ask? Standard MBP is already pretty powerful for m1 optimised workloads and I always see high end macbooks much less 'cost-performance' worthy. If you wanted a bigger panel you could always go for a bigger external monitor.

      • I like to have all the Adobe apps open. If you have a project open in After Effects, and import a few Photoshop documents, it's nice to have those Photoshop documents open because you can make changes to them and the changes appear in the After Effects composition. Same with Illustrator files, or when using InDesign you can make changes to files you've imported and have them appear in your After Effects project.

Probable release of 15" Airs soon. If you're buying a Pro for the bigger screen and can hold off for a bit you may be in a position to save a lot more than $375

    • +2

Probably in your dreams. But I would love that to happen.

    • +2

Most likely not before 6months from now if it happens.
I had the first MBA M1, what a machine. Don't think they gonna release such a good one again (no mini-led for ex.) now that Silicon is popular

      • not before 6months

It’d be next year. If I was tempted but there was no rush I’d be holding out.

    Office works price march?

    • +1

Only if you hurry…otherwise will undercut HN by $1 haha

    • It hasn't been in stock at OW for the last few days.

"Our guarantee applies to all identical products and services that are:

      Stocked at Officeworks"

      • +3

That’s a damn shame. I can’t bring myself to support Gerry.

  • +1

This price is the Apple edu price.

  • Edit.

  • Is it the cheapest price its been?

  • Didn’t JB Hifi have a 10% off sale the weekend the new MBP 14” and 16” came out?

  • These machines are fantastic but I still prefer my 2019 MBP body over the 2021. It’s so much more ergonomic from a portability standpoint

    • Totally agree. Saw a new one in Costco, so much bulkier compared to previous generation. I still love my 15" MBP 2019, thin and light, although have to take extra care with the keyboard…

      • The Intel turbine laptops were sleek but always bothered me that they regularly hit 100 °C even under medium loads.
The new M1 Pro/Max models barely heat up yet Apple has equipped them with beefier cooling systems, wonder why?

        • Just speculating… perhaps M1 has lower tolerance to heat?

  • -1

Has anyone else had battery drain issues with their M1 Max? Coming from the standard M1 the max seems to drain much quicker with similar workloads

      • -1

thanks for that, makes sense now. I think I might trade the Max in for the pro then

        • But there are many saying otherwise. So its better to see if there is something running in the background or trying a factory reset/OS reinstall might resolve something. Max supports 3 monitors which is a good thing, but not sure if everyone needs that capability.

  • Bought my Macbook air from the edu store. Very quick shipment and no questions asked.
Used to buy heaps of stuff on HN but service is the worst, warranty practically non existent and prices the highest!

    • With apple, regardless of where I bought it from the warranty I would still directly contact apple.

      • The macbook gets treated with care.
HN staff could not even answer me a single question.
Gave them a chance to supply our workplace with about 10k worth of gear. They failed on ALL of it!!

  • Love the M1 macs, battery sippers and powerful. The only headache is that it doesnt work well with my dock (charges fine and passes audio with out issues but doesnt detect the display thats connected to my dock. My older intel based Macbook has no such issues) and it doesnt detect my laser printer.
