Excellent price for the 8GB version. Pretty happy to be buying this after missing out on the Poco F3 5G deal.

Hi, the deal was apparently due to expire at 7pm today, but looks like they've extended it! I've updated the time.

      • +1

Looks like it's been extended again

        • Fixed (finally).

  • As usual, pay in USD via Visa/Mastercard in Paypal to save a few roos. Came out to $360.

  • The bubblegum blue is a bit cheaper around $350ish AUD

    • +2

That's the 6gb model, saw it as well but you'd really rather the 8gb for 10 bucks more hehe.

      • Yeah that's right didn't see that :)

  • This is exactly what I was waiting for!

  • Something I found out recently, if you want to root a Xiaomi phone, you need to wait a week to unlock the bootloader

    • +2

They implemented the waiting period a long time ago, it was done in order to curb the unscrupulous sellers buying up cheaper China Only models, unlocking them and putting on Global or fake ROMs then selling them as the Global Versions when they don't have the necessary bands to function correctly or at times even have completely different hardware.

      • Oh wow, didn't know that

I see why they've done that now

  • How long will Xiaomi support this with software updates?

    • +3

Think I read somewhere for 2 years. But with Xiaomi they sometimes just update Mui without updating Android versions.

This phone being a Xiaomi branded higher middranger ( not Redmi or Poco ), it should certainly get Android 12 / Mui 13.0.* soon/now

as my Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 got that 3 weeks ago, and possibly get Android 13 for both also, plus newer versions of Mui and Android

      security Updates for sure too.

Edit: Even better just saw a vid that said 3 years O.S. updates as well as 3 years of quartely Android security updates, good if that happens.

    • +2

      2 years.

      • Does that mean the latest it'll ever get will be Android 13?

        • +1

Maybe, be also maybe only Mui based on Android 13 but on top of Android 12 as that is what Xiaomi often do.

  • Will this be cheaper from AliExpress during the anniversary sale?

  • +1

    Thanks OP - bought one!
Looks great and it's much lighter than many other similar-sized phones..

    • No waiting for the Poco F4? I've been trying to find out tentative release dates, but no luck thus far. A bunch of articles online, nothing definitive.

      • +1

Yea.. decided the light weight trumps the processing power for my wife's phone.
FYI it appears Aliexpress will have a sale on this Lite phone too.

        • Do you know what the sale price is after factoring in GST? Shipping is like 5 weeks though isn't it

  • What's the software on the Xiaomi phones like? Does it have ads or track you or things of that nature? If you install a custom ROM can you still you use NFC and your banking apps?

    • +1

It does have ads, but you can easily go in and turn them off

      • EU phones don't have ads. I recommend buying an EU Xiaomi phone via Amazon when on special. This way, you'll get a full 2yr warranty that you can actually use and that includes free return shipping via Amazon Prime.

  • Haven't had time to check, but does anyone know how these stack up against a Xiaomi Mi 9?

  • +1

Poco F3 is $379 for those of you who commented about it

    https://au-m.banggood.com/POCO-F3-Global-Version-6_67-inch-1…

    • Not bad, 6GB version though.

  • Is mint green an official colour for the 11 lite 5G NE?

I couldn't see it in any of the Xiaomi marketing material.

Could it be a dodgy version? China version and not global version?

  • +2

The delivery estimates are inaccurate. Once you order the phone and it is shipped, they give you much later delivery estimates…

    • How much later? Not 5 6 weeks like AliExpress is it?

    • I have just ordered and been informed that expedited shipping is unavailable and I can change to priority shipping or cancel my order. Of course if you go to the link you can still order with expedited shipping as an option.
Figure I'll see what comes out of the AliExpress sale and use this as an option to lock in a lower price otherwise.

      • Additional charge for priority shipping? How long will it take?

I found the AliExpress sales weren't any cheaper than this deal and shipping is like 5 weeks.

        • +1

No charge for priority, April 11-23 is the initial estimate (expidited was 6-16th)
Checked just now and you're right - AliExpress deals don't end up cheaper. Will tell BG to go ahead with priority shipping and see how it goes.

          • +2

@zbys: I received the same email! Opted for priority, but it's disappointing expedited is still an option on their site

            • @UNO: I also received the same, grr. Still going through with it, though!

        • I somehow ended up with standard shipping, not sure what happened there…

          • +1

@noskich: Mine has now shipped, 7-15 working days was the estimate to Melbourne.

            • +1

@zbys: Mine says 7-17 April… It's left Hong Kong… On its way to Sydney.

              • @UNO: Yeah I'm in the same. Would be nice of an update.

                • @humperdoo: Mine hasn't moved since 1 April

                  • @UNO: 'The flight will take off soon.

                    Apr 01, 2022 09:31'

Guess its on the same flight

                    • +1

                      @humperdoo: Same for me, 2022-04-01 09:32:16
                      In transit

The flight will take off soon.

                      • @noskich: 🤞

                      • +1

@noskich: I see its landed in Sydney has yours arrived yet? Im waiting for an update for Melbourne

                        • +1

@humperdoo: I am in Melbourne. I received my delivery from UPS 2 days ago (11th April). I ordered on 26th March. Shipped on 31st March. Delivered on 11th April. Standard Shipping.

                          • +1

@pork chop: Mine is on board for delivery in Sydney- as of 19:18 yesterday. Hopefully it comes tomorrow.

                          • +1

@pork chop: How are you enjoying the phone?

                            • @UNO: It's a gift for my dear mom this Easter weekend so I haven't spend much time other than turning it on and I got the prompt to update to the latest firmware (3GB).
It's very light handset compare to my samsung Fold 3.

                          • @pork chop: Ordered and shipped on the same days, same shipping priority - standard, however status still in transit - flight will take off soon. :( What kind of statuses did you receive after "flight will take off soon" and on which dates please?

                            • +1

@noskich: I received an email from banggood on 31st Mar saying my order was successfully shiped out. Then another email on 4th April saying:

The tracking information of your package Xiaomi Mi 11 has been updated. The current status is : Exception.
There maybe 2 reason result to exception :
                              1. Confirm whether the addressee refuse the package;
                              2. Package information has not been completed, If you don’t received the updated details within 7 days, please contact us.

I lookup the tracking status on UPS website daily and there was no update which was worrying and out of the blue the package arrived on 11th April.

                        • @humperdoo: Nope, for me still no change:

                        • @humperdoo: Just checked the 17Track link and it says it landed in Sydney today, however on the Banggood site still no update. Seems like their site is not being updated regularly.

                          • @noskich: I ordered a case at the same time and that rocked up this evening. Hopefully it is not far away.

                            • +4

@UNO: I received mine on Tuesday (I'm in Sydney).

Camera is excellent (apart from the automatic beauty filter on the selfie cam), fantastic screen, and it's an extremely speedy phone. Build quality is solid, though I don't really like the plastic-y edges. Battery life is definitely all day, and it charges quickly.

I also appreciated that it came with a transparent case and screen protector applied — I am extremely clumsy. Very happy with it so far.

Coming from stock android (my previous phone was an original Pixel XL), there are some annoyances with MiUi (especially when tweaking the settings), but it's not an enormous jump and I don't detest it (like the Samsung UI).

Mine arrived a coupe of days ago. The Mrs is happy with it so far- especially the battery life.

    • Much bloatware on yours? Does VoLTE work?

      • +2

Volte appears to work after unlocking it…
Step 1: Dial * # * # 86583 # * # *. Once you are done, there will be a message ” VoLTE Carrier check was disabled ” appear on the screen, thus activating Volte on your Xiaomi phone

Step 2: Now go to Settings> SIM cards and mobile networks.

Step 3: Here you will have to activate the option Use VoLTE.

If your Xiaomi phone has dual SIMs, go to Settings> SIM cards and mobile networks> SIM1 / SIM2

After that, you can now start enjoying high-definition calls through 4G, LTE, or WiFi networks.

        • I tried that but still doesn't seem to be working. Is there meant to be a VoLTE icon on the status bar?
          I'm on Telstra Prepaid.

          • @dajackal: You are right, no volte icon. This is with Boost mobile. My old Xiaomi mi mix 2s does have the icon.

      • +1

In terms of bloatware there are quite a few Xaiomi apps installed, but the Mrs isn't too bothered by them.

Is anyone else in Melbourne having an absolute b*tch of a time chasing up PSlogistics? Says arrived at facility 12.4 but no further updates and bs responses.

About to ask for a refund or start a charge back

    • +1

Omg yes. I finally got mine yesterday. Pfl tracking said attempted delivery failed and no card was left. Emailed to ask about it and they said they can try to lodge a redelivery request, didn't hear anything back over long weekend so called them and they told me they didn't actually attempt a delivery, that was a system exception…

Pfl is just a logistics handler. They ended up handing it to Aramex for the final mile delivery and from that point it was quite fast.

Seems the biggest delay was packages getting quarantined in HK for 2 weeks based on the tracking.

Wife is happy with the phone, it really is surprising how light it is compared to similar size handsets!

      • Lucky, mine still hasn't moved in 3 weeks to be picked up by last mile carrier.

  • Mine seems to be in good working order received it a few days ago. Just wondering if it has a screen protector. It looks like it does? What do people recommend to protect it with?
