  • Wow half price

    • +3

      Yep, time to bite.

Been using a friend's simple plastic hand-me-down and would appreciate this upgrade in quality.

For all the debate about coffee snobs using expensive bins v. the true OzBargainer using the side of their garbage bin ± a spoon…bang-bangs are simply a nice convenience item, providing simplicity and shaving a couple of seconds off your coffee routine. For ~$20-40, whether you find value in that will come down to the individual. Cut the bullshit! 😅

      • Whether or not it saves time is debatable because eventually you will need to empty it into a garbage bag or somewhere else. Then it needs to be cleaned.

        • +3

Empty into garbage, clean in dishwasher. Yep, def a little time saver for me. Though, I put more value in the simplicity of a swift bang and moving on with my clean-up.

          • +3

@muwu: Empty directly from filter into a garbage bag, nothing to put in the dishwasher seems faster to me.

          • +7

@muwu: The last sentence is what my wife said.

            • +3

@wetwork: I thought writing that would trigger some horndog. Name checks out 🤣

              • @muwu: It's all about efficiency.
Time and a place for everything.

          • +1

@muwu: Can't put this in the dishwasher - the acrylic lining covering the metal base will start peeling.

          • @muwu:

I put more value in the simplicity of a swift bang and moving on with my clean-up.

Yes but said value can be as low as a few dollars, if not free with some of the alternate knock box ideas people have posted. Ice cream tub + takeaway chopsticks, done. The rest is paying for a brand name and looks. This is a good price for something neat looking though. Is that the definition of snobbish hehe. The fact this one isn't dishwasher safe compared to others like the Avanti just reinforces that point even more.

            • +1

@dufflover: In which case I'm happy to part with $11 (or arguably ~$20-40) for the aesthetic and design of a consumer bang-bang sitting in a visually prominent position in my house (plus the simplicity and speed I find with using one).

Others would care a lot less. Others couldn't justify the expense for so little perceived value. Others mightn't have the income for an item of convenience not necessity.

              That's all okay. It's individual.

There have been a number of recent bang bang deals and this debate has been wearing on. I think we should put a lid on it.

One thing's for sure. 150+ votes for a deal on a bang-bang would indicate that it's a valued post on OzBargain 👍

        • +1

Have had one for a couple years.
Make sure to clean it regularly as the coating isn't rust proof.
Mine has rust on the bottom from when I didn't clean it for a week.

        • +5

No need to put it into a garbage bag. Coffee grounds are a good source of nitrogen in your garden either mixed directly into your soil or in compost.

          • +1

@skittlebrau: Compost if you have doggos! My fella loves coffee beans and when he realised this was being dumped in the garden gave composting it a go himself. Not good as he spends the night inside!

        • +5

Secret is to put a piece of paper towel the bottom each time after you empty it, its wicks up moisture and stops any mold forming.

      • For ~$20-40, whether you find value in that will come down to the individual. Cut the bullshit! 😅

The amount of votes for the other deal points to a lot of snobs lol. A knock box itself is not snobby. Forking out $28 for one sort of is :P

        • I agree because the OzBargainer in me didn't bite until this deal.

But $28 might be deemed a better proposition for an individual who confers higher value in a quality bang bang and/or has a higher income.

      • I just wash down the sink straight from basket

        • +1

Cost of plumber to clear coffee grounds from block drains - $150.

          Yep - bargain.

      • +1

Definitely worth it at $11. I think I paid something like $28 more than a decade ago and still going strong, if a little corrosion on the inside base.

And the satisfying “thonk” as you empty the filter basket is all part of the experience.

    • I can smell some cancellation 😆😆

  • Ordered thanks OP

  • Ordered thanks op

I got this one free with my Sunbeam espresso machine years back. It has this rubber rim that goes all the way around that sort of holds the bar in place. A little bit annoying to clean.

    • +2

I just put a small bag over the top of the knock box, never needs to be cleaned…

    • +1

The rubber rim comes out along with the bar.
So does the rubber ring on the underside.

    • -1

How is it annoying to clean? I've got one, it comes apart into 4 pieces for easy cleaning. The rubber rim top/bottom is removal, so is the bar.

    • I got one free with the breville via redemption, came also with milk jug and the 4x250g coffee samples

    • Also have this. It's easy to clean.

  • Great find. Thank OP, ordered 2.

  • Ok for $11 this is worth it

  • +1

Ordered! Wow. Surely that’s got to be a mistake. They’re ‘personally’ delivering it to me tomorrow! Let’s see if that happens. Anyway: thanks OP!

    • I'd figure this must be a relatively small business and these orders would be sold at a loss and then OzBargained up to a high volume.

      💯 for cancelled orders.

But it's fun going for the ride. It's the OzBargainer way 👍

      • It seems linked to Appliances online? They’ve been good delivering items when vouchers are used.

        • Excited for the outcome 😃

  • Ordered, if they cancel they cancel. For $11 why not?

  • Didnt bite with the other deal. Did with this. Dont need it…yet 😀

  • +1

What the fock is an Andoo!?

  • Anyone got a receipt / confirmation yet? I noticed no option to enter email or create an account

    • +1

I just purchased and order received email went to junk.

      • thats weird, didnt get any email (checked again, email field was there), nor was anything deducted from my card.

        gonna 28D it.

        • No email for me either unfortunately but debit card shows pending transaction from WINNING APPLIANCES PTY LTREDFERN AU

  • +14

For a few dollars more, this has a removable handle…

    https://www.andoo.com.au/p/sunbeam-mini-bang-bang-coffee-gri…

    • Thanks!

    • You do realise that the EMO100 has a removable handle/knock bar as well?

In fact the whole thing comes apart easily for cleaning - the rubber base, the knock bar and the rubber top. And you can buy replacements if needed as well.

  • +1

    Cheers OP ordered one.
Wish they had PayPal as a payment option

  • +6

Why did I even buy this… I have never had coffee in my life.
    Oh right…the ozbargain fever.

  • Can the bar be removed on these to wash?

  • +1

Uh earliest delivery date is 11 June at time of writing?

  • +4

Ozbargain: omg this is such a waste for $28, just use a teaspoon
Also Ozbargain: I don't even know what this is but it's popular and $11 so I bought 5

    Never change 😂

  • I need one of these but earliest 'delivery date' is 18th June at checkout and I have never heard of this anodoo place before

    • This one is better and $4 more, can get it next month.

  • +1

Have this one, good but be prepared to have to clean mold off it every time you empty it.

    • This is very good for cleaning mold, Just soak for about 10 minutes and it's like new. I even use it for clean the shower room, the result is better than other cleaning products.

    • +1

put a paper towel at the bottom each time you empty it, it wicks away the moisture

  • Wow.. Amazing price… What does it do anyway?

    • hahah I had to google it LOL

EDIT: Good concept but just a bin to hold used coffee

    • +1

Ozbargain way is buy now think later but if you don’t know what is that for then it is most likely become a waste. :)

    • +3

it's for tapping out the used coffee grounds from an espresso machine handle, like they do in cafe's. makes for much easier cleanup after the coffee :)

  • Been wanting one of these for home for years, delivery won't be till June but I don't mind waiting. Thanks OP!

  • +1

this andoo company literally just only appeared this month…. yall sure about this?

    • Got a confirmation mail and delivery notice mail. Let’s eat and see how good they are.

    • YOLO! Its $11……

    • Seems like it's associated with Appliances Online

  • Fwiw Pretty big unit for a knock box for home use, folks have this one, as someone said, be prepared to clean mould from it given the length of time it will take most to fill it (although OzB coffee deals are so frequent perhaps each household is using 10 double shots a day)

    • Why would you wait until it's full to empty it? I'd probably just take it out with the compost

  • +2

Seems like spin off of winning appliances..

They are hardly a small business anymore.

    Time to ozbargain them

  • +2

    Idea:

Line the knock box with free doggy bags from the park.

    • +3

Make sure the bags are empty before you use them

  • +1

Solution looking for a problem. I just empty into mini compost bin on kitchen bench with other green waste, then into big compost bin in backyard.

    • Same here, into a small box then use for compost.

    • +1

Me too - we're both $11 ahead of the crowd.

  • +1

Near 3000 clicks. I'm not feeling particularly hopeful on this one guys.

  • Delivery in June if order today, not sure why so much of delay.

    • +1

      It's a pre-order right?

Pre-order, stock coming soon, call for an ETA. Please note that extended delivery times may apply. If you'd like an ETA for delivery, please call us on 1300 002 400

They would need to line up enough salty drivers to drop these off to people as well which might take a while. Don't forget they will remove your old knock-box for free apparently … I live too far away for a delivery.

Unfortunately, the address you have entered cannot be reached by our delivery drivers. But don’t worry! Ask us how we can make alternative arrangements for you. Contact us by clicking here. Our customer service team is available 24/7.

  • After all, why shouldn't I buy one?

  • I don’t need this but maybe one day I will

  • Ordered 10

    🤞🤞

  • Got one, for some reason ended up being $10 shipped.

For that price shipped you can't complain.

  • Was tempting then found this:
    3D Printed one

    or this one
    3D Printed two

Maybe I would print the part with solid 100 in-fills for the stick.
I understand you need to get a 3D Printer before you can print one for yourself lol, but hey save you $11 this time maybe potentially more in the future.

    • How much would the materials and energy cost though? Even if you bought a basic 3D printer for a few hundred you'd be saving less than $10 on a 14 hour job for an inferior product lol

      • +1

3D Printer does not consume as much power as you thought.
During the heating up stage, it will take around 200W-350W, depending on your model. Once the bed is heated up, it just keeps the temperature using the PID algorithm. My average power consumption on the power meter is around 90W-100W per hour max.
Depending on your technology, the printing speed will vary. Some latest model does printer quicker due to the structural rigidity and advancement of hotend construction.
In terms of materials, I buy cheap ones when they are on sale so ESUN PLA+ 1kg usually cost me around $18-20 after all the loyalty programs or discounts.

I am printing one of these models and the calculated printing weight is just above 100g, so one roll will provide me at least 9 of them - Average price for the material is less than $2.5.
Electricity cost let's say 3KW with my local rate, it will be around 60 cents.
You don't charge yourself for labour as this will be part of your hobby, plus this will give you the fastest product delivery which beats pathetic AUSPOST shipping.

Source: I am a technology teacher and I build my own 3D Printers including the firmware, plus my home printer is on the power meter.

        • Okay good thorough write up but let's say $3.10 expense for a basic knockbox you linked. That's $7.90 cheaper aesthetic differences aside so I get the value there if you're already invested but to invest you need to have money, time, knowledge, interest and space (which clearly you have all of the above)

But people spend $11 on breakfast so I think to them it's an easy purchase XD

  • Bought one of each size…was going to buy a Grindenstien or Breville Mini (which both look better imho), but both sizes for less than the price of one is hard to argue with!

Fingers crossed they are both honoured!

  • I feel like you guys might know. Is there a resource to find the optimum grind and brew settings for a particular bean? Just bought some beans from hyper hyper in nowra and would rather not waste half the pack in fine tuning
