Sidchrome 7 Drawer Tool Trolley $350 ($332.50 with PowerPass Discount) In-Store Only @ Bunnings Warehouse

330

Just picked up this tool chest from Bunnings. Had a look on the power pass app and there are a bunch around. Standard clearance price has been set to $350 and you get a powerpass discount off that to make it $332.50. They also have the 8 drawer topper for $210/199 which is a bargain.

To find them on powerpass search for 0188979 for the chest and 0188978 for the tool box.

Also I got the chest new in box, but the topper only had the display. They discounted the display to $100 for me on the spot.

    • Am i missing something.
Its more expensive at total tools

As I said on the post, it's 740 at total tools. Most people can't look up the chest on the Bunnings site as it's a clearance item and has been removed from the normal site. Can only see on the power pass app. The link is so people can see details

Total tool selling "SCMT50207" is a different model

          • @[Deactivated]: You are correct. When I googled the model number it brought up 10 different stores all for the other model. Didn't realise was a different number. Either it's a new model or the Bunnings model is Bunnings specific.

    • Inbox me your area if you want and I can have a look on powerpass. I don't know how to dump a list

    • Maybe not helpful for you. One in Bunnings Preston, VIC at time of posting.

Going by the review on the Sidchrome site it's probably only worth around $350 anyway…

    "Chinese, thin gauge option
A light weight, thin Chinese version of their true and tried High quality Taiwanese versions. Don’t look this way. Go for the better, thicker gauge version. Not sure why Sidchrome are moving manufacturing to China. Especially in this day and age. Shame!"

    • Each to their own. I have been on the market for one and had originally purchased a HRD 26" set from total tools which I had to return. In the end if you want a 70kg unit made of thick heavy gauge steel you're epanding 1000+ for the base cabinet alone. For anything around the 500-600 mark this is quite easily comparable and has a lot of benefits. Seems very sturdy to me. Probably not ideal for a mechanic workshop but all the mechanic workshops worth a cent aren't dropping 350 on a cabinet and expecting a snapon

Port Macquarrie, Bennetts Green, Kembla Grange, North Woolongong in stock. Kotara and Glendale low stock. Just a few i checked.

  • Just went into Bunnings and the discounted price wasn’t advertised but when it scanned it showed the reduced price.

  • Oh good price. I'm setting up a new workshop and debating whether to go for 2x ~26" style units or one big ~42" one. I feel the 26" ones would be easier to wheel over close to where I'm working, especially when loaded with tools.

Nearest to pricing of these is the ToolPro edge 28" units that Supercheap sells, which even on a 20pc off sale are still more $$$ than this.

    • These are also a lot taller than most cabinets mate so extra storage space there, not ideal if you want to slide it under a bench. Perfect for a cabinet to wheel around. For the price 2 of these would still be cheaper than a 42" one lol. You also have the option of bolting the 2 together if you want to make s bigger one.

  • Thanks op.. made my trip to Bunnings a little more pricy…

  • No 8 draw topper in the Illawarra stores

bought the 8 drawer topper for $90. It was display unit

    • Beat me… They sting me 100

      • Same $100 for topper but $250 for the cabinet

  • Just went to have a look at my other local Bunnings and they only had the display high roller cabinet in stock. It was locked and they didn't have a key. I rolled it out the door for $100. Will have a go at opening it tonight, if I cant I'll have to drill it out, but either way keep it in mind. They go down as far as 100 for the unit without the key on display.

For anyone that's interested I jammed it with a screwdriver and cranket it around until it unlocked. Then I drilled out the hole a little bit now I can freely lock and unlock it with a screwdriver. Also the locks are 20mm cam locks so a pack of 4 online for $11 are easy replacements.

  • picked one up from the fairfield VIC bunnings today. there were two more boxed (none on display). one was marked at the full price $570, the other with the discounted ticket.
it is reasonably heavy so ideally have two of you to lift it in the car. i did manage on my own.

  • Dumb question
But does it have tools inside?
Or is it just a toolbox without the tools?

    • Toolbox only
