Another bonus from Shopback for their gift cards portal.

  • Thanks mate :)

    • I think this is opt in. There's the Earn More tab and start challenge

  • "Exclusions … ShopBack Vouchers (Gift Cards)" - but Shopback Super Swap cards are OK?

    • +4

You are reading the referral box above, not the deal.

    • +2

Just got the $3 + 2% from buying a $100 Super Swap card

  • Thanks mate.

  • +16

    Hodl till 10%

  • +18

$3 bonus only brings Coles / Amazon to 5% off
not attractive at all, will pass this one

    • +9

      Well, still better than 2%.

      • +4

Yep and I regularly buy $100 SuperSwap cards each month just to pay for my grocery shopping at Coles. You bet I'll take ~5% discount on one of them.

        • +3

You are worse off with SB without bonus.
open a suncorp bank account for free /or AAMI insurance customer and you will have access to 3% off Coles & WW eGC.

            • +1

@wavesgreen: Interesting response… I believe they were just pointing out that you buy gift cards for Coles at 2% when you could get them at 3% quite easily

          • @TanedaR: which is still worse off than 5%.

        • +2

Have you been able to scan the gift cards at Coles self checkouts? Never works for me on the phone. Haven't tried printing though. Always need to call the checkout assistant to help me and they get grumpy when they have to punch in the super long code.

          • +2

@elecpurch: Never had a problem with it. Make sure you're scanning with the little box on the side of the self checkout, not the scanner you use to scan items. And make sure your phone is on maximum brightness. Many scanner apps will change brightness to full when you display bar codes.

            • +1

@Dacs: Same .. use the side one .. where u scan Flybuys card

              • @shibbu: The above is correct. Make sure you scan via flybuys.

Saying that sometimes they work well and sometimes it takes 100 years.

I have this problem with the Microsoft Reward Gift Card. I mean seriously the $5 card takes years to scan.

          • +5

@elecpurch: If you're attempting to scan the barcode from the gift card PDF, you'll have basically zero success. I also one time tried to use a printed copy of the gift card PDF, and that didn't work.

A lot of OzBargainers find that if you store the Coles gift card in an app on your phone (e.g. Stocard) and then use the dedicated barcode scanner next to the EFTPOS terminal to scan the barcode in Stocard, it is very reliable (as long as you can find the barcode scanner's sweet-spot). I've also had zero issues scanning a Coles gift card barcode directly from the Prezzee app.

            • +2

@WookieMonster: Thanks for sharing this trick. Don't need to annoy the checkout assistants anymore 🙂

            • +1

              @WookieMonster:

If you're attempting to scan the barcode from the gift card PDF, you'll have basically zero success.

and yet somehow I've been scanning PDF's stored in google drive on my phone for the past 5yrs.

          • @elecpurch: I print the Coles G.C.'s and never had a problem scanning at self checkout. I just do a small copy and tape it to my Flybuys card.

            • @Peck: Thanks. Will try WookieMonster's suggestion and if that does not work then printing it is.

          • +1

@elecpurch: Some Coles stores have newer checkouts where it works easier via the main scanner (same scanner as for products).
With other checkouts it only works with the small flybuys scanner on the side. On some checkouts I've had issues with Flybuys scanner too. (It's always the same store/checkout that was having issues, so I stopped using that one.)
For convenience I store the numbers in stocard.

            • +1

@johnmelb: Seems like stocard is the best way forward. Thanks for the detailed info :)

          • @elecpurch: Fark'm…

    • +1

Very true. A lame deal particularly for Amazon or Coles + Absence of Wish eGift card makes it worse anyway. Okay'ish is someone is after Doordash or eBay cards.

      • +1

Agree on the Wish E Gift Card

    • Coz this is not a MasterCard only deal.

    • +1

      not worth my time

  • +26

Yeah, you've found my threshold, I'm not spending $100 to save $3 if I don't need anything right now.

    • It's more money then credit card points

  • +1

    Damn, bought gift cards yesterday.

  • +3

You got me, 6% for eBay isn't bad at all.

  • $3 tracked in about 5 mins. Thanks, OP.

  • Oh these midnight challenges

    • +3

I stay up just to save $3

    • Don't be like me who needs sleep at midnight and misread the referral info as the deal :( :)

  • Yeah Nah

  • Oh so it looks like I can spend 100 on different gift cards in multiple transactions, is that correct?

    • If you mean by redeeming the card, yes

    • Yes, that's right. You could purchase different retailers (ebay, doordash..) gift cards.

      • Yep I just got an Ikea and Amazon card and got the $3

  • …wow

  • -1

Thanks ShopBack it does help some people in Australia and is what we all needed!!!

  • +4

    10% or no deal.

  • Pity can’t pay via mobile wallet?

  • +2

Just bought a $100 Ampol gift card. Works out to be 6% off petrol with their 3% cashback. Yay, I'll get 2 litres of petrol for free.

    • Can stack with Toyota app. 4 cents per litre off, and earn Everyday Rewards on your spend.

    • I think a 6% straight off sale may be coming soon as most options of Ampol are due 28 Feb 2025, less than 3 years.

    • $100 ampol card are out of stock.

  • +12

Why are people complaining etc? It's like you busking on the street and someone gives you $1 and you tell them no give me $5. People complain about free stuff these now?

  • +2

Becomes an even better deal when you stack/pay with Coles Prepaid Gift Card-Mastercard purchased on a Coles deal.

  • Thanks OP. Assume you can use cashback dollars to pay as per gotyourback’s comment in the DoorDash GC thread?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/691149

    • Did that and both the $3 bonus and 18% got tracked :-)

  • +2

Previously l saw purchased gift card $50 $5 cashback and now $100 $3 cashback. I’ll pass. Better save $100 if not spending everything right now. Suit for someone plan to buy something ahead.

  • +1

Best to buy with 18% door dash to make it 21%

  • +2

3% discount maximum and people are clamouring for this? Weird.

    • Money in Ubank HISA for 365 days, will get you 1.05%, variable, IF you deposit $200 pcm into the account.

    • Maybe u haven't noticed bank deposit interest rates .

  • If I use my SB balance to pay for a portion of the $100 gift card, would I still qualify for the bonus $3? Thanks.

    • +1

Yes. You will. From my experience using SB balance paid in full or partly. You will qualify bonus cashback as long as you purchased SB challenge T & C need.

This deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/674004 had a similar $5 Bonus on a min. spend of $15 on Boxing Day (26-Dec-2021). I have done a purchase within the transaction window as per T&Cs, and the Actual Cashback (of $1) has got confirmed 90 days later (26-Mar-2022).

The Bonus of $5 got "tracked" on 26-Mar-2022 but it is still showing as Pending in my account since past 4 days. I have reached out to the rep, gotyourback to get this bonus $5 confirmed.

Anyone else facing similar issues, or anyone who has successfully got this $5 Bonus as Confirmed Cashback in their accounts?

    • The Bonus of $5 got "tracked" on 26-Mar-2022 but it is still showing as Pending in my account since past 4 days.

that's normal, usually takes 7 days then it's confirmed

  • Once we added a credit card details through ShopBack app for a purchase, can we remove that card afterward?

    • +1

Yes, go to 'account' (bottom Right) then tap on 'Add/Manage Payment Methods', then tap on … at the right side of the card, then tap on 'Remove Card'

      • Just to triple check that we don't have to provide an alternative payment (ie adding a new card)? Thanks for your info.

  • thanks

  • Is the $3 cash back supposed to appear as 'pending' in the 'cashback overview' page right away after purchase? I bought one yesterday, but I can't see it on the page.

    • Yes, once the challenge completes, it appears as challenge - Bonus pending in Cashback overview. Can you see the challenge completed??

      • I can't see 'challenge - bonus' pending in Cashback Overview under neither Cashback Activity or Click Activity. However, I can see 'Shopback Voucher' under Click Activity. Do you have that too?
