Free Samsung S22 5G 128GB (or Bonus $800 JB Gift Card) for New Port-in to Telstra 300GB $79/Month Plan for 24 Months @ JB Hi-Fi

710

Need to swap to Telstra recently and went to one JB HIFI store in ENEX Perth, WA to inquire the plans.
New promotion just for this week limited.
The old plan was $99*24 months. But now it will credit $20 per month, which brings the monthly fee to $79.
On top of it, you can get a Samsung Galaxy S22 5G 128GB / $800 JB hifi gift card. (You can also upgrade to S22 higher-spec by paying the gap).

In my case, I have to use Telstra network so not too many choices for me.
Besides, I have an NBN at home, for which I pay $60 per month and I am living by myself. I am going to cancel the broadband and just use this 300GB, which should be too much for me.. (Checked this month I only used 150+GB with my NBN).
Unfortunately, I am an Apple user, so I might get the gift card. (Though the phone values $1249, I can't be bothered to sell it on Facebook).
The total cost will be 79*24= $1896. After deducting gift card value, monthly pay is less than my previous NBN cost.

    • Can this be a Samsung TV? need a tv instead of a mobile phone.

    • @yasminew9

Get a $2 Optus simcard, activate it to use as qualified plan to port over to this 24 months jbhifi Telstra $99 per month (cost $79) Postpaid plan (and free S22 128gb)

When dust has settled then later talk to Telstra to have your Boost main number movrd over to this Jbhifi Teltra postpaid $99 ($79) plan

Jbhifi will tell you this is possible before you proceed 😝🤣🤪👍

      🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

      • Sorry I think one mistake need to move your Belong plan to say a prepaid Telstra plan then ask Telstra to move that number (your main number) too your Jbhifi Telstra Postpaid $79 plan
You can ask Telstra chat to confirm if possible too

        • Thanks! I actually bought an Optus $2 sim the other day to try and port in 😊

  • What's the likelihood of being able to take up this plan on a new number and then transfer over my current number that's with Boost?
Really keen to sign up to this plan and get the Ultra but JB said a flat no to transferring number over

    • I would say slim

    • Try buying a $2 any other sim card (ej. Optus) and port out today
And go back to JBHIFI tmrw..

  • What will the early termination fee cost?

  • guys..can i do like this…buy a $2 sim for optus or non-telstra and take that to port in to this plan. Get the S22 and the plan, ring up telstra to cancel the contract, pay the ETC and thats it…

Can anyone tell me what the total ETC will be. As per T&C's , its $1188 (plus any Voucher Reimbursement
Cancellation Fees (if applicable) for the $99 plan. Am i correct with my figures….is it really worth it… makes me think

    • How much do you think the voucher reimbursement fee will be?

    • There are S22 on eBay for a $1000 brand new and Australian version too some bought from Jbhifi so yeah why would you to all the trouble?

  • +1

Last year, you could get S21 on a 12 month $99/month plan. That was good.

    • But do remember lowest price for S21 is a bit over $400. S22 cannot be that ridiculous.

  • Can the voucher be applied to other things in the store or just a S22 series phone? I need a new vacuum…

    • +1

You can use the $1,249 credit on samsung phones only. I’m here at jb hifi at the moment

  • The JB Hi-fi website says $99/month now?

EDIT: thats so weird, if I check on my PC it says $79, but if i check on my phone, the banner says $99

Well thanks for letting us know, maybe try a different browser in your mobile or better install a new browser in your mobile ..or the same clear your current web browser cache, do let us know the outcome, again thanks

  • Just rang my local JB, mentioned that im currently telstra, would I be able to port to Optus today then port back to Telstra under this deal.
He said you need to wait 30 days, but theres nothing stopping him from doing it, so he's gonna pretend he didnt hear anything if i come in today lol :P

    • I went this morning and they didn’t ask about how many days I’ve been with kogan. Haha I used the kogan sim card for 2 weeks and got this deal.

Yeh JB hi-fi are chill, I guess they want their commision anyway

        • -1

JB rep confirmed you'll get the gift card balance or S22 cost on your next bill if you're not ported out for 30 days min before porting back.
          It's in the fine print.

He himself was waiting before getting the next deal too (he wasn't ported out for 30 days yet), as he's had customers come back complaining about unexplained charges on their first bill, trying to dispute with JB.

  • Just signed up, got on a chat through the app and got $20 reduction. Initially she offered me $15 reduction which is what I asked for.
I kept chatting and asked her to make my new service show in the telstra app with my other services. She said she couldn't do that but offered me $20 instead!
After another 15 or 20 minutes it showed up in the app anyway.

    • Is this chat with Telstra?

      • +1

Yes, in the My Telstra app

        • Is it month to month or a contract?

    • +1

Wait what? So you're only paying $59 a month now? Did I read that correct? :O

      • +1

        Yes. $79 - $20 monthly credit

        • Wow, that's crazy, I'm gonna give it a try!

        • They handballed me back to JB Hifi. How exactly did you manage to get an extra $20 discount when it already discounted from $99 to $79?

    • There telling me,.. that's Telstra chat online that the $20 port-in offer is after the 2 years contract has finnished, think better talk to another chat agent this one's not cooperating with me lol

Edit: and she said the $20 discount is only for 12 months,.. not the whole 24 months contract

      • I think I'm bad at this, the rep said he can only offer $20 and that his notes will let the next rep know not to offer me the $20 per month deal.

        Screw it I'm trying again.

        • Can confirm mine is $20 per month for 24 months.

          • @RedditUser2: Would you be able to send a reference number? Telstra chat said if I can show proof then they'll do it.

  • Called Jbhifi over the phone actually directly to one of the jbhifi stores actually Watergardens, firstly it's not possible to get that extra $20 or $10 on top for porting over to Telstra,.. there reasoning is this was originally the $99 plan discounted to $79 so already discounted by $20
(but there are people posting above they've been getting this $20 port over discount, I'm just going by what I was told over the phone with jbhifi sales rep),… edit: seems like everyone's doing this through Telstra not jbhifi

Also as I'm with Belong any service associated with Telstra you can't take this deal, but as confirmed with the jbhifi sales guy is to use a fresh prepaid Optus simcard with its own new number so use that to port and get the deal then ring Telstra up later and get your main number changed into the Telstra system into that plan

No buds2 is included in this deal also

To those that don't know the S22 phone is also yours outright day one and if one wants can sell it

  • I'm currently using a Samsung S10, so anything is going to be a step up really. But I'm torn between an S22 (any model) or an Oppo Find X3 Pro. Any feedback or thoughts on which way to go please? I take a lot of photos so would appreciate a good camera, and a long battery life/quick charge capability would be great

    • People been complaining the S22 has a worse battery life then the S21,.. anyway I still have the 5G Note 10 Plus and is fine well certainly still a fast mobile with 512gb of storage and I doubt I'd be moving up to a S22, it would be more of a downgrade (unless i move upto hmthe S22 Ultras), well I'll be loosing out on the sdcard slot as the whole S22 range including the Ultras don't have one, so if your one that's taking a lot of photos and videos in one day I'd suggest at least getting the 256gb version or higher

Also important the Note 10 Plus got the Android 12 and the UI 4.1 upgrade these couple of months so rocking almost the same software updates as the S22 but didn't the same happen on your sS10?

My next phone will be the Note 20 Ultras the S22 Ultras are to expensive at the moment for my budget

  • Can anyone clarify please?

I called JB on the helpline. I was told that if I go for the phone, the plan is $99 per month.

If I go for the gift card, it is $79 per month.

Is this correct as banner says this when you click on it?

    • I was told over the phone with a store actually Jbhifi in Watergardens store (Taylors Lakes, Vic, 3038) that the $20 discount applies I.e. $99 to $79 per month if I decided to take the S22 128gb mobile

Edit: still interested to know how to get the further $20 port-in discount per month through Telstra,.. maybe I should call them directly then using online chat they have been no help, umm hope Telstra is available over the weekend over the phone as this Jbhifi deal finnishes this Sunday tomorrow 3rd of April, 2022

Edit again: look in the banner shows a picture of the S22 128gb with printed wording "$0 EA UPFRONT SAMSUNG GALAXY S22 5G 128GB", hope you see the same?

      🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

      • Yes, i noticed the phone in the banner and the text too. Will check in Hoppers Crossing store today.

  • Got the S22 today from the deal. It seems they load a gift card with $1250 and use it to pay for the phone. Wondering if I can just go in later to return phone and get a $1250 gift card refund as nothing on invoice says about Telstra deal.

    • Give it a go and report back. I'd be curious to know!

      • I've done it before, it worked a few years ago

        • +1

I was able to return the phone (sealed box) and get the gift card refund. I returned it to a different store though and no dramas.

  • Bit late to the party but had a question I was hoping someone could help answer.

I've a number I ported over using a similar deal 24 months ago (it's on the telstra network).
Can i use the above number to get a new number and then replace the new number with my existing?

Current number is just month to month so I was hoping it would effectively be me renewing my 'plan,' and getting either the new s22 or an $800 gift card…

    thanks!

  • +1

Trying to understand your question, so your current number is with Telstra directly

Ok I'm guessing your asking the question for this type of deal or more so similar future deals as this

I'll use my example, I'm with Belong (Telstra network) and no I couldn't take this deal since Belong is part of the Telstra network, solution which Jbhifi stuff said is fine, get a Optus $2 prepaid simcard kit, activate it and use that Optus number/plan to signup to this Jbhifi deal (as it's not related to Telstra network at all like Belong, Boost, Aldi etc (just double check with jbhifi if prepaid plan is ok but im sure it is)

Days down the track and now you have two Telstra numbers/plans on your Telstra account, get Telstra to move your old main number plan to this new Telstra (Jbhifi) plan and close the older plan at the same time

Anyway haven't done this personally but have read posts few people doing this, you could double check with Telstra chat the moving numbers part and Jbhifi will certainly state you can't take there deal as your already with Telstra, that I did ask Jbhifi staff

    • perfect, thank you :)

  • Had the phone for about a week. It's pretty good the only thing that's bugging me is the battery life. Barely make it home after work without the battery being flat! Considering selling this and getting the S22 +

    • Nobody uses car chargers, spare phone charger or small battery packs at work (if possible were possible) etc,.. I actually for years now (were possible) keep my phone charged close to or at 100% charge, so my mobiles don't go through full cycles and trickle charge most times, well found this doesn't allow battery to detoriate on the high side, even my Note 4 from years back still has great battery life,. I also have a 2 metre USB-C cable at my bedside to keep charged my Note 10 continously while I'm using phone (usually buy the 90 degrees right angled elbow type cable on one side, so comfortable to use on phone side)

Anyway food for thought,.. just phones like my Note 10 etc have sealed batteries and not worth replacing especially when there 2 years or so old and of course having a bad battery life effects the resale value also

      My 2 cents 👍😁

Edit: yupz hearing stories the s22 has a terrible battery life to the previous s21 range, do most higher end phones even give one full days use? well comes down too what one does on the phone all day, well my solutions to this as stated above with mixtures of car charger, spare charger and battery packs, the car charger in my car is capable of "Super Fast charge" so by the time I reach my destination my mobile is usually fully charged

  • Anyone know if they are still doing this?
