Your device must be in good working order, power up, and have no major screen damage to qualify. You are responsible for deleting all data from the device before dispatching. Device cannot be returned so ensure all data is backed up. ID check will be required. Credit is based on (and paid after) your device is received matching the description provided at the time of the estimate. If the condition of the device doesn't match, or it's returned late, a new trade-in value will be confirmed. If that amount is at least 75% of the original estimate, the trade-in will continue and that amount will be credited back to you. Devices sent for trade-in must be received within 30 days of receiving your new device, provided the purchased device has not been returned during that time. Sounds good in theory, but the question is, has anyone successfully completed all of the above steps with success?
I ask this because you would have thought this would have caught on when it was first mentioned, but it didn't by the look of things.

Yeah, way too many things could go wrong… It's not even that big of an upgrade performance wise.

      • It could also get better I guess. Plan is to price wait until 2 July (last day for $727 at HN), get a pixel 9a with the price match/trade in and then you get a 15 day period where you can price match again if it drops below $727.

I traded in a Pixel 6a as part of this deal, and it went very smoothly.

      16/4 - Ordered a Pixel 9a for $849 on paypal
      22/4 - Phone was delivered
25/4 - Received the return pack
      28/4 - Returned my Pixel 6a
6/5 - They received my phone
      7/5 - I got a $300 refund to paypal

Sure but this deal has additional store credit and price Match to deal with

        • price match is easy, as long as it's in the list of approved store, they don't make any fuss (other than telling you to wait for order to be shipped before requesting price match), store credit you get as soon as the phone is shipped. Only potential issue is with the trade in since it's processed by a separate company

    Note its Estimated trade-in value…

    • +1

FWIW they were giving my pixel 7 $300

      • $300 for 6a.

        • $300 for Pixel 8 Pro.

            @TurkeyBargain: Let’s exchange.

          • +2

@TurkeyBargain: When the Pixel 10 Pro comes out, the trade in value for the Pixel 8 Pro will be $900+.
I traded in my Pixel 6 Pro for a Pixel 8 Pro with a trade-in value of $900, and then traded in the Pixel 8 Pro for the Pixel Pro 9 Fold with a trade-in value of $1000.

      • my 7a is also $300

        • Good deal if you also got the 7a refund.

  • I still need to pay $699 after trading my p7 for p9a 256gb…

If the amount of money that leaves your wallet is $849, then that is the price of the deal.

      hahaha

  • too risky

if you use store credit, then you will not receive 10% of that.

  • Do you get exynos 5300 modem included or the 5400 modem for 9a?

    • 5300

  • Quite cumbersome process!

    • not really. I have tried. Return process is so easy!! I have had chat with google chat rep, and being google one subscriber, you get priority ( I believe), within few minutes they come and do price match!!!

  • How do we price match with Google?

    • Chat or there so a form

      • Cheers mate

  • I just spoke to chat - they said you can't double dip on all the deals.

So it's very unlikely you'll be able to make this all work

    • What did they actually say?

Front page of the google store

Ways to save with this value duo – Trade-in and Pixel Price Match.^^,Δ
Found a lower Pixel price? Request a price match and you might qualify for a refund on the difference.

I saw this comment in that thread and can confirm that did this and so far it has gone well

Starting price $850, another $3.50 for a Google One 2Tb subscription
    - 10% discount using code obtaining from subscribing to Google Store emails -> $765 (I did this as a backup in case the OW prrice of $727 was gone by the time of dispatch)
    - price match to OW -> $727 (as soon as phone marked as dispatched I went onto chat and they refunded the difference quickly)
    - 10% store credit from Google One -> $76.5 (not $85 as I applied the 10% discount just in case as above)
    - $100 EOFY bonus credit
    - $300 trade in bonus (hopefully no issues here, I received the 9a today so will send the 6a back to them tomorrow)

    Pixel 9a for ~250 dollars

    • What sequence did you do this in? I've added the phone to cart, it's provided the trade in, bringing it down to $549. I have the option to add only one discount code. Just say this happens to be the 10% that will take 10% off the $549, where can I add the Google one credit? I guess I then pay then ask chat for a price match?

Or are you saying you purchase the phone, use the 10% code, pay then go on chat and ask them to price match and refund, then add your trade in and additional 10% credit?

      • store credit can't be used for that purchase, you actually pay $849, then ask for price match to get it down to $727 ($122 refund), then once your trade in is accepted, you get up to $300 back, bring that down to $427. And you have $184.9 credit at google store for future purchase (or $100 if you don't have google one 2TB)

    • Is the store credit still 1 year expiry? Online says yes but…?

  • Reckon the Pixel Buds Pro 2 worth buying with the credit?

    • I got the pixel buds pro with my credit from the 7a deal they did a year or so ago. I'm happy with those.
If I did this deal I'd likely get he buds pro 2 for the simple reason theres nothing else that interests me to spend the credit on.
