Clearing out OLED for the QD-OLED to come?

    • +1

I think the QD OLEDs only go up to 65 inch this gen?

      • -3

        No I think

        • Qd at the moment targeted towards desktop gaming etc

          • @chuneeperformance: Not at all 55" and 65" are still the most popular selling size so makes sense to introduce a premium new technology at an affordable price at those sizes…
Both Sony and Samsung have QD-OLED'S this year with only the Alienware QD-Oled targeting PC gamers

OK, for me the Samsung Neo already good enough for me.

              • @superforever: That's subjective ofc til you actually see a new panel technology in the flesh….I went from an LG CX Oled to a Sony A90J Oled and to me that's was a considerable jump in terms of processing, clarity, motion and brightness…..
Sony's XR processor still seems to be superior to that of 2022 Samsung Qn90b and LG C2 from early comparisons

Always something new, meanwhile people watched TV in the 90s with little complaint.

I remember plasma, just due to size. Now everyone argues about the depth of colours, and how blacks black are.

Always some new con to get you to spend more 🤣

I admit the quality looks good on $1,500+ when I went into JB, and my old 42" Samsung had better colour than my 65" ALDI!

Looking forward to an upgrade soon, but I get more confused the more I read on here 🤣🤣🤣

I'm sticking with my 2013 Plasma for now. Got a FireStick to keep it "smart".

Better motion clarity than any new TV, but OLED beats it with blacks and resolution (1080p vs 4k).

I know a guy who buys the latest LG OLED C series every year lol

      • Also Plasma's double as a heater for the cold winter

        • +1

Yeah, plasma screen + mining on my GPU and I don't even need to waste money running a heater!

I was wearing an onion on my belt, as was the fashion…

    • I've got my Samsung 60" Plasma still going strong.

How much do you think the 85" x95j will drop when new versions are released?

    • +1

same waiting for that price drop

    • $2847.73. But I could be wrong.

      • 85" x95j

No way will drop to $2,847

    • Great question I think $1k no more no less

  • Just picked this up.
I think this may be the cheapest it will get before the new "K" models come out.
I think as the new ones are released you will struggle with availability of the old ones - you might get lucky, but I think this is pretty good.
Anyway, my TV just started to get a bright green line down the screen <sad face>. It's 7 years old though now, so not so bad.

    • 7 years is not good…
My 2009 Kuro is still alive as a 2nd TV (~27,000 hours of use)

      • How is your tv on 6 hours a day on average every day for 13 years?

        • +1

I'm actually underestimating, 6 hours isn't much, 1 hour in the morning and easily 5 hours in the evening.

10 hours minimum on weekends, maybe 2 months of holidays if that, I prefer staying home.

          Yes i like watching TV.

      • I just moved my Kuro on to a new home. Still worked perfectly, they don't build them like they used to.

I'm certainly enjoying the 77 A80J that replaced it, but it was surprising how small a step up in picture quality it was. Big size increase, sure, but amazing how well the Kuro still holds it's own for PQ.

        • Interestingly, I had a Pioneer plasma a while back - it wasn't full HD (720p). It was nice, but what got me was the digital tuner on it got out of date. It could only do MPEG2 (i.e. the video encoding used on DVD) whereas the broadcasters now use MPEG4/AVC (what they use on bluray). It means many of the HD channels could not be received by the Pioneer.

          • @xylarr: When that happened I got a Fetch box for the Pioneer - and moved it on to use with the Sony too.
