The 65W version of this charger has been popular on OzBargain previously and now the new 100W version is on sale.

It has two USB-C ports with 65W USB Power Delivery (100W on single, 65W+30W when both used) making it suitable for charging laptops, phones, Nintendo Switch etc and two Orange USB ports that support 5A fast charging including Huawei SuperCharge and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. There's two CN style plugs on each side that'll fit an AU plug and a 100W e-mark USB-C to USB-C cable comes included.

In the old charger only a single USB-C port could deliver 65W and when both were used it offered 45W+20W. It also had one 5A fast charging USB port and 1 AC socket instead of the 2 found in this new charger.

  • Man that thing looks like it'll get overloaded and produce a lot of heat.

I mean compact is good but thats a concerning compact.

    • +9

It's a GaN charger so it's able to conduct electricity a lot more than the old clunky silicon chargers we all still use without producing a lot of heat.

    • +4

GaN has changed everything for chargers, far less heat and far smaller!

  • It doesn't actually do 100w on a single usb c port? Am I reading the specs right?

    • +1

Yeah. 100W total power but will only do 65W on a single port.

      • Are you sure? Product description says 100W on USB-С.

        • +4

You're quite right. 100W on a single and 65W+30W on both.

          • @Clear: I've looked up and down the entire page, several times and I can't see anywhere mentioning 100W on a single port - whereabouts is it mentioned, please? Just looks like the highest any single port can do is 65W in tandem with 30W from another port - but I can't see anything about one single port.

I'm going by the images from Baseus, rather than that ambiguous title text:

            [GaN Tech] Baseus GaN3 Pro 100W USB-C Charger Desktop Power Strip With Dual 2500W AC Socket Ports / 2 * 100W USB-C PPS PD3.0 / 2 * 60W USB-A QC3.0 Fast Charging Adapter CN/AU Plug

            • +2

              @RichardMelbourne: The type C ports are listed is supporting 20V 5A so 100w :)

              • @cruiseronroad: But that would be the maximum and not a guarantee that it will actually deliver 100W to a single port, though?

                • +3

@RichardMelbourne: It’s a USB PD spec, so it will deliver 100W to a single port, although if you plug anything else in it will be reduced.

            • @RichardMelbourne: I assume you're viewing the page on mobile, if you switch it over to desktop there's a table that would more spec

From what I can see for the two usbC

              Type-C1+Type-C2 output
              65W+30W / 30W+65W

Doesn't look like it is 100w from a single port

              • @joeydee: Presume you meant that for cruiseronroad? I actually wrote that they only show combined port outputs and no mention of single port output:

looks like the highest any single port can do is 65W in tandem with 30W from another port

P.S. Read the page on my laptop.

                • @RichardMelbourne: My bad, I didn't follow the chain of.of messages

                  • @joeydee: All good. The main thing is that there doesn't appear to anywhere where it states, definitively, that a single port will output 100W and I don't want to risk purchasing one in order to check…

                    • +2

@RichardMelbourne: Guys I’m telling ya it can’t support USB PD 20V 5A without having 100w output.

Either they’re lying or it will do 100w on one port.

                    • -2

                      @RichardMelbourne: did some digging
found this on their offical website - https://us.baseus.com/p/baseus-gan3-pro-desktop-powerstrip-2…
which takes you to an amazon page - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HBJ1Z96
                      About this item
【6-in-1 USB C Charger】: With dual AC outlets, two PD USB-C ports and 2 USB-A ports (The USB2 port supports single port 60W Max and 18W QC fast charging), Baseus GaN charger enables intelligently deliver power for up to 6 devices simultaneously.
【65W PD Fast Charging】: Dual USB-C ports(65W Total Output)support simultaneous high-speed charging of your MacBook Air (45W) and iPhone (20W). The usb c charging station charges a single laptop in just 2 hrs at full 65W, or an iPhone 13 from 0–54% in 30 minutes, or as a perfect Samsung charger block charge the latest Samsung phones at full speed with Samsung Super Fast Charging.

my interpretation on this is that the 100w is the total output it can do but usbC is still 65w max

hope this helps others make their purchase decision

                      • @joeydee: This is the 65W model mate, not the one OP posted

                      • @joeydee: Yeah I found a similar listing on Amazon as well. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09PYK9HHY/
It seems they're not exactly the same product, just look at the side of it. Amazon's listing has logo and the 3pin on the same side, and shows 65W, whilst Banggood's has logo and 3pin on different sides, and shows 100W.

Sooooooo confusing! Guess I'll go with Banggood for the "stated" 100Watt :(

        • It's confusing. Usually a 100w usb c charger will say on the configuration that if only 1 is plugged it runs at 100w, it doesn't say that. It lists a bunch of configuration that add up to around 100w though

          When 100w is mentioned, it says "2 * 100W USB-C PPS PD3.0".

Emphasis on the "2*" weird but I think it is trying to suggest when 2 slots are used up (or maybe 2 slots that do 100w)

          • @Butt Scratcher: I would definitely read that as "there are two slots that do xxx". Though I agree it is a little ambiguous.

  • is this also essentially an international multi plug with those extra ports on the sides?

    • Yeah China uses 3 pin and 2 pin power plugs that look similar to ours and the US. So essentially you can use CN, AU and US plugs.

      • Will it cover EU plugs?

        • No sadly not.

      • +6

Be aware that AU 2 pin plugs no longer fit in with CN 3 pin sockets after China rolled out its new industrial standard in 2017. You will need to have an earth pin inserted in order to unlock the neutral and live sockets. AU 3 pin plugs still work perfectly with it though.

        • That seems like an odd design choice when more and more things are going earthless.

          • +4

@incipient: Sounds like they followed the same idea as the UK (they use physical shutters) and locked out the pins for safety so for example children can't electrocute themselves by jamming a paperclip into the socket.
Having a quick look on Aliexpress I found a few products to override the safety mechanism (press in fake pins) so there are options to get around it but not knowing how these would effect safety I am certainly not recommending or linking them here.

            • +1

@MoneyPincher: I think the safest option is to use an Australian grounded (3 pin) power board when traveling. Plug it in once then you can use whatever you like.

        • This is not completely true. My baseus 100w charger arrived today and AU 2pin plugs work just fine. The live/neutral shutters are not operated by the earth pin. Instead they have a mutual lockout. So they only open if both are being pushed on simultaneously.

  • +2

Not going to lie the upside down plug puts me off this , would just look awkward in the wall

    • +4

I live in an old house with power sockets right at floor level so any plug with a downward facing cable is impossible to plug in, this would be great for similar cases. The only place I'd see this not working is if you had a power socket at ceiling level.

Plus I think you'd generally have the charger sitting up above the power socket anyway (e.g. on a desk or side table) and that would mean the cable doesn't have to bend upwards.

      • +1

oh it would always work , just think it would look weird and bug me

    • -4

You can thank the Chinese for their sh!77y designs. They somehow think that's how our AU plugs look (https://imgur.com/a/PAUOcNn)

    • yep and very untidy on any power boards.

  • +1

Since it says the single type - c output is 20V = 5A, my understanding is it can charge up to 100W?

    • Yeah my mistake.

  • +1

Looks like something out of The Matrix

  • +3

Waiting for something like this to replace my laptop charger and another power packs I have to carry for my work set up

    • +5

      This is something like this

      • +7

waiting for this, hopefully this will become this soon, as this would really suit me more than that

        stillwaiting

        • +3

I think he's waiting for something like this, not quite this one but something like it. I hope he finds something like this soon.

  • It is actually $69.75 at checkout

    • +1

I used the Mastercard Currency Calculator. So if you set the currency to USD, untick insurance and pay with a card with no currency conversion fees in PayPal you'll get within a few cents of it.

      • +1

How can the Mastercard rate be better than Google that has AU$68.51?

EDIT: Got it, need to untick insurance. Thanks.

      • Thanks for your reply and your post. Already bought and paid by AUD. All good

    • for me it showing $72.10

      • I think AUD is going down now.

  • Thanks. This looks great. I’ve ordered.

  • Purchased, thanks OP. Awesome, now I don't have to wait for my Kickstarter to finally deliver my GaN charger!!!

    • Hahaha I canceled my omega charger order there this month. 2 years of waiting was just a bit too much.

      • Nah, I waited longer than that for TextBlade before finally pulling the plug, so I'll wait a bit longer for Omega.

        • I ordered through indigogo and they are delivering the Kickstarter chargers first so I would be at least another 8 months away I reckon, I just got sick of their BS.

  • Thanks OP, bought one

  • +1

To purchase this in China, the price is roughly $59 - so this is a very good price considering shipping and GST. I actually ordered one two weeks ago via a shipping forwarder but thankfully the order was not posted due to the pandemic. I have now canceled that one and placed an order here.

  • It's not 100w. It's actually 60w which is that max it will charge one of your devices at.
Maybe they should call it a 60w+40w charger instead ?

    • +2

Based on the spec, 60w only if you charge multiple devices.

If you charge only one device, it should be 100w.

  • For the 5A USB-A port, does this support Oneplus Dash Charging (a.k.a. Oppo VOOC charging)?

    • +7

Come on mate, OP has already gone to so much effort to provide a lot of detail…

Surely it would have been easier for you to just click on the link to see product specs and check for yourself?

And then perhaps let us all know in the comments, so others can benefit

      • +1

It's an uncommon standard that as per usual is not specifically listed as supported in the specs. I've only ever had one non-Oneplus branded charger that supported fast charging on my OnePlus 6 since the phone is pretty picky, and I only got that from an OzBargain deal after other users confirmed it worked.

    • I’ve got a spare warp charger if you’re interested. Just sitting here doing nothing.

      • Thank you for the offer! I have a spare dash charger too actually, I was more looking for an all-in-one solution.

  • Does this have an AU plug that goes to the wall socket? The pics only show the Chinese plug. Thanks!

    • 3 Pin CN socket that's near identical to ours and will work.

      • I read that Chinese line and neutral pins are 1 mm longer than Australian plugs (18 to 17 mms respectively). So while our Australian plug will fit a Chinese socket, how would the Chinese plug fit an Australian socket? Or am I missing something?

        • +6

Just jam it in really hard…..

  • +1
  • This is actually looks cool, very portable for travelling. With 2 regular power sockets can be used to charge high-powered laptop.

    • Only if you bring your laptop charger as well as this. People are trying to get away with travelling with as few chargers as possible.

      • +1

Cries with 230w laptop charger :(

        • Lenovo? My Legion will charge from a 65W USBC (very slowly and disables external GPU)

          • @mctubster: Nah it's for MSI Creator 15 11800h rtx3060.

It can charge with 65w but at extremely slow rate.

  • +2

I just bought an S22 which I think requires "PPS" for fast charging.

Does this support fast charging through PPS? Cant find anything on the website…

    thanks!

EDIT: Found it, can confirm it does support PPS.

  • +3

Also note there is no insulation on the AU plug pins. For something of this price its unacceptable. Extremely dangerous around children, and downright illegal in Australia. If you buy this be careful when plugging/unplugging it. Don't let your fingers slip and touch the conductor. I wouldn't risk it personally.

    • Hmm, did not know about that.. perhaps I should try cancel my order now D:

    • I'm assuming it's the same design as the 65W version… any ideas if that has insulation? Unclear whether this is a rendering or the actual design.

  • I placed an order and now it says it's out of stock and estimate date of shipment is 30th April.

  • Isn't this cheaper here or am I looking at something else?

    https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtjKaxk

    • No, that's the older 65W one. Also they will charge 10% GST when checking out.

    • +1

      your link:

      Rated power: 1250W Max.

      this deal:

      Rated power: 2500W Max.

  • I want type c ports that never drop voltage. These drop voltage on one port and briefly disconnect things when things are plugged in the A ports probably right?

That’s such an annoying thing to happen. I also think it’s bullshit that it doesn’t revert to 45w and 45w, but instead 65w and 30w. If they had made it 45w each, at least you wouldn’t have to worry about which port to use.
What an annoying extra step to make sure the right device and cable is in the right port if you’re actually going to use both ports.

Concept: a type-c charger where both the ports can always at least do 45w and no disconnecting. How about 45w + 45w, always 20v, and remaining 10w can split between the USB-A’s at 5v.

    Give me simplicity rant over

    • +3

It makes sense they have to do this, USBC has a chat before sending power, port A could already be committed to 100W so it has to renegotiate each time based on what is plugged in. Yes you could argue why do that if 45W each say, but it doesn't know that up front. Anything that is hardwired is violating the spec

  • +1

I had the customer service reach out to me and asked my permission to change from Priority Shipping to Standard Shipping, did that happen to anyone?

    • yep same thing happened to me

      • was annoying but I told them to change it to Standard, better than getting a refund at this point

        • yeah same, its a good deal just may be a bit of a wait
