Functional Water Shoes $15 (Was $25) + $10 Delivery (Free C&C/in-Store) @ Kmart

550

These look pretty good already for the $25 and had a pleasant surprise in store today being on sale for $15. Perfect for kayaking, canoeing and other water sports.

They look stylish too for mens shoes. Got them for my dad and he loves em.

  • bought these few weeks ago at full price, they are very comfy and actually look quite good in real life.

    • What's the grip like when walking over wet areas?

  • +17

    Better than non-functional I guess.

    • I guess those ones were more popular

      • style over substance

      • Influencers shoes.

$2 in store on a good day

    • What?

      • +27

$2 IN STORE ON A GOOD DAY

  • Would this be good for someone who does a lot of work in the rain and stepping into puddles and mopping and getting water every where?

    • +13

I think I would prefer to keep my feet dry in your situation. Gum boots maybe?

    • +4

no. water shoes are designed to let water in (they're almost the opposite of waterproof!).
so not good to wear with socks or if the liquid coming in has chemicals, etc. as Keegs says, gumboots or other waterproof footwear is bettern

      • +1

Why would anyone want to let water in shoes????????

        • +5

kayaking. normal shoes arent suitable at all and barefeet not always ideal especially if oysters and stuff is around

        • watersports … duh that's the kink

    • Gumboots better unless there's so much water that it'll breach your gum boots.

      • Then after gumboots I'm guessing it's hazmat suit? Or is there anything in between

        • +2

          Waders

          • @KlyJuly: Yes.

          • @KlyJuly: Wait how do you wash that? Can you put that in a normal washing machine.

        • Just FYI - if you rent a hazmat suit more than 4 times a year it just sense to buy

They look stylish too for mens shoes

    April fools?

    • +2

      Haha mens water shoes!

  • +4

All sneakers now seem to be water shoes entirely made from some some form of plastic.

  • +4

just wear crocs…they're great ..good drainage

    • Crocs are more expensive and clunky though. They also blister your feet if you walk too much in em

      • +2

More expensive? He saids crocs, not Crocs. https://www.bigw.com.au/product/wave-zone-men-s-garden-shoe-…
What website did you thing think this was?

        • Wow I must have been living under a rock - never seen these thanks

          • @atlas: I think I got a pair from Coles for $2 a while back.

      • are you wearing the wrong size crocs? or have they changed that much? wore them a lot as a kid and they were easily the most comfortable and utilitarian shoes i've ever worn. the convenience of thongs with the protection of a shoe

    • They can be slippery in and out of water, navigating rocks etc. Something with good grip that also can keep sand and pebbles from under your sole makes a massive difference.

  • any good for kayaking ?

    • Untested yet but it looks like it is. It’s why I bought em

    • The are a bit chunky. Using an enclosed kayak I prefer something more minimalist.

    • +2

Pretty sure you'd sink in these. Best off using a kayak.

  • would love to see the dysfunctional model

  • +1

I use these for canyoning, held up pretty well except the elastic drawcord broke (replaced with paracord).
Good deal at $25 and even better at $15

  • +5

Thanks, have a formal dinner party to attend and was looking for the right shoes.

    • Pairs well with a cummerbund.

  • Looks perfect for gardening!

    • Why? If your garden is wet then you'll end up with wet feet.

      • Looks good enough to cover the feet and it looks easy to slip on as well. I don't generally do gardening in the wet anyway.

  • +1

I bought a pair of non-functional shoes and they didn't work.

    • got your money's worth

      • To be fair, they were as advertised.

  • I was sold after functional!

    • +2

Can I interest you in functional alcoholism?

      • ahaha no thanks been there!

  • Size 10 went OOS when I came back to read the comments :( thanks anway OP

  • Is Kmart also part of the Human Lab Experiments entry only?

  • How are they for crabbing? Old sneakers let sand in and cause blister

  • +2

You lost me at "They look stylish too for mens shoes."

  • +1

Oh wait it’s not an April fools? It’s an actual thing?

  • Any stock left?

  • Ordered click and collect. Got cancelled no stock. Damn

  • Most sneakers these days are so 'breathable' that they are by virtue water shoes anyway.

These were important in the days of heavier sneakers/runners. These days, all you need is a cheap pair of lightweight runners that clearly have predominately mesh uppers.

These ones for instance, are $10. https://www.kmart.com.au/product/slip-on-adjustable-sneakers…
Same lacing system, and just as functional.
Don't be fooled by massive chunky grips btw. You step on moss covered rocks at the beach, you're still going to slip if not careful.
I actually prefer softer soles as they contour better to the thing you are stepping on. More contact - more grip.

    • It’s the tread that is different though
