So you neg the deal because you don't like product? Do you understand how this website works?

      • -1

and not even the same product. As the name implies the Forerunner watches are primarily for running.
All non medical grade devices don't measure spo2 accurately. It is also meaningless unless you are at altitude.

Just FYI to anyone considering this, there are two similar products, the 245 and the 245 Music, some of the pictures are of the 245 and some are of the 245 Music, so it's unclear without more digging which one it is. Before you buy do your research.

I personally have the 245 Music and would recommend it as a good entry-mid level running watch.

  • Looks like it could be the non music (Ie non storage) model? Title doesn’t have ‘music’ and one of the q and a’s suggest non music. The confusion is in the description which is all about the 245 music…

    • Yeah, It's the 'non-music' - there's a query about it in the Q&A Section, hidden under the expanded bit, where they answer that.

  • Given there seems to be no stocks or else the price have now gone up for this old model, is there are newer model to replace this particular model.
I am looking for a one around same price and with similar features including music and also the similar dial size. I don't like the big dial. This seems to be the perfect size.

    • Yep, this model being 3 years old is a bit of a pain. But there aren't even rumours of a 255 being released soon (no announcement, or FCC filing for new smartwatch devices, which would occur in the months preceding release). People on the garmin forums reckon there was meant to be an updated release of this series last year (FR45 got an updated FR55), but blocked due to global chip shortage.

I completely agree that the 42mm case is the sweet spot for wearability and screen size. Around the same price is going to be the killer here. Any newly released device at this level is going to be at the $5-700 mark and will take years to come down in price. Even the higher end models like Fenix 6s (also 42mm and from 2019) are rarely available below $500.

    • Any issues with GPS considering this is UK version?

      • +3

If the GPS only worked in one country it wouldn't be a global positioning system would it?

        • +1

GPS devices (with maps) without LTE often require maps to be downloaded locally to the device. Some manufactures may charge for this service. It is a fair question and comments from people who have already purchased this would be of value to the community.

          • +2

@2pro4sho: Agreed. In this case though, the 245 doesn't support mapping. Only "breadcrumb" navigation mode that is a plotted route line on a white background. So shouldn't be any localisation issues.

      • +4

It will track your activity but you'll have to do your runs backwards and walk on your hands if you want it to display correctly.

      • +2

Garmin watches that have maps are only provided with the topoactive maps for that region.

This one doesn't have maps though.

          Ah great thank you.

Almost the same deal as this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/692444 minus a few dollars.

Please note that they grey version is not the music version.

      • +1

Good pickup. Purchased thinking it was the music version. Have cancelled the order.

    • Same as the other one, not 'Music' unfortunately…

      Question:
Hi, is this 245 music or the one without music storage?
      Answer:
No music storage on this model. Other than that, it has proven a reliable companion. Standout features are, clear sharp display, SPO2 readings (helps greatly with sleep analysis > and VO2MAX rating). Solid build quality (made in Taiwan)

Just FYI, seems like the updated 255 is coming very soon according to The5KRunner, which might explain the clearing of stock.

I ordered one from the last deal and have been witing for it to arrive…
This is the DHL tracking so far:

Orbassano, Piedmont IT - Turin - Milan, Malpensa - Brussels - Amsterdam - Brussels - Cincinnati Hub (Customs Clearance delay)…

I wish I had the GPS turned on when it left cause it looks like a pretty good world tour..
