  • I'm quite impressed that the laptop has an Ivy Bridge CPU already. Also, Computer Alliance always provide excellent customer service so that's a big + vote from me.

    • Note that Ivy Bridge is only 5-15% faster than than Sandy Bridge, though it can be 20%-50% more power efficient. Pity this doesn't come with an SSD Cache; that could make this Ivy Bridge feel much more responsive than my old Sandy Bridge laptop ;).

  • Fantastic bundle price, laptop alone great price!

  • Cant find this model on Asus website. Anybody got direct link?

  • More images and reviews here.. It isn't the prettiest I must say..
    http://www.centrecom.com.au/game/asus-n-r501vm-s4152x-laptop…

  • Looks very macbooky. Also, are you sure its 3rd gen? I thought the mobile chips werent available untill June.

    • yeappp.. pretty sure it's the ivy bridge.. on ebay, a seller already got his hand on the asus g75vw even though it's even not available in the asus australia web.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-RELEASE-ASUS-G75VW-17-3-16GB-…. However, it will be posted on 14 may

      • The version of the G75VW that is listed in the ebay link is a totally different one from the one that Asus are bringing into Australia which we should be betting into stock tomorrow.
        http://www.computeralliance.com.au/parts.aspx?qrySearch=1371…
Has a 256GB SSD and a 1TB drive (not a 500GB as per ebay), 3GB GTX670M video card (not 2GB GTX660), Blu-Ray Writer (not DVD Burner), 17.3" LED Backlit 3D Display (Nothing mentioned about 3D in the Ebay one)..

  • +1

Is this the N56 series? Every link to R501VM seems to be for Australia only.

Regardless there don't seem to be any reviews anywhere.. except the Centrecom one which is pretty amateur.

    • It looks like it is… no clue why they made it start with R though.

    • I gather so, for whatever reason ASUS in Australia seem to have dropped the N from the name. Same notebook advertised as N series in other regions. This is Australian stock.

  • When does this deal expire? I am keen but do not have the cash just yet.

    • No fixed time, but certainly when we run out of stock of the notebooks or screens. Should have stock for at least a week and probably longer.

  • It looks like they've copied Apple in some aspects..

    • I find it really funny how no one ever says Apple copied Sony, because Sony were the first to offer Chiclet keyboards :|

  • Does this model have a backlit keyboard?

Also what is expected batt life?

    Cheers.

    • Yes the R501 has the backlit keyboard, battery life is very hard to say as only a new notebook and it will also depend on the power settings you have set.

  • Does anyone know if this supports WIDI (Windows Wireless Display)?

    Thanks
