I want to jump on this right now but for the life of me I can't get Samsung to send through the newsletter. Used chat support and sent email, customer support is lacking in that area if anyone else is trying to sign up for the newsletter.

    • +4

Only lucky one can receive newsletter code.

Mate I bloody missed out on those stacked deals sales because they took over 72 hours to get to mine even after I emailed them separately.

      It is hopeless.

I got crucified for my rant…

    • Same, never get a response from them, makes you wonder if the service when something goes wrong will be as bad

      • +1

        answer is yes

  • Can anyone help me understand why is A73 better value for $ than A53? (apart from better camera)?

    • +1

      Size 6.7 inches, 108.4 cm2 (~87.0% screen-to-body ratio)

    • +1

much better performance on the A73

    • +2

Better camera, and also has Snapdragon processor instead of disappointing Exynos processor. Also bonus buds on this which are no longer included with the A53.

Still, I'm tossing up whether this phone is worth it for me or if there's something a little cheaper that will basically fulfill my needs the same (sd support, decentish camera, good battery)

      • Any ideas if it'll be dual sim?

        • The micro SD uses a shared sim slot, so I think it's a choice between SD card or 2nd sim?

  • +1

Just a warning about Samsung and their online store. They’re next to useless

  • +1

Agree with the online store… Had dealt with them in the past … Hopeless

  • Hmm my S20+ is valued higher but I think this might be a better phone! Especially for battery life.

  • 4yr OS 5yr security ?

  • does it allowed to use $100 code too ?

    • How do you get one of those?

      • I have few just chat them on chatbox provide genuine reason like I had a old samsung not compatible for tradeup but still working condition etc

    • Just tried and didn't work. Code is only for the flagship phones

  • Does the A73 support wireless charging?

  • +1

Regarding dual sim, I contacted Samsung live chat and apparently it is single sim model although it does have a microsd slot.

I was hoping it would be dual sim :(

    • Sigh… Have to resort to grey importing dual SIM version again

  • Anyone happen to know if this has a 3.5mm jack?

    • I'd guess it wouldn't since the a53 doesn't have one and it's not mentioned in specs

    • +1

No headphone jack, which is a bummer.

  • A52s still a good choice. Same Chipset but a few months older.

    • I'm choosing between A52s and A73. They are about the same price at the moment.
I like the A52s being slightly smaller, but overall A73 is better in all factors. But the major factor is that the A73 is getting 4 os Generation update and I think A52s is only getting 3. Considering the A52s is already 1 generation behind, A73 is bit more future proof.

A52s got the 3.5mm jack tho

      • Just to check…you can use a USB to 3.5mm jack cable for Android Auto, right? So the missing 3.5mm jack on the phone is not an issue for that.
Guessing the need for 3.5mm jack is some other purpose

        • The missing 3.5mm jack doesn't bother me that much nowadays but I can see how it's important to smoe people. Searching for the compatible adaptor could be annoying and bluetooth buds don't handle phone call all that well.

      • I thinking of going grey market from buybuybox. A52s Voilet 8GB/256gb for $495 + del and maybe GST- So temping.

I feel the A52s size is good. im so over tall long phones.

  • I could definitely use the buds, so I'd value them at say $90 just to make things square.

Is there anything else for $500 that would beat this phone? Camera and SD support are the big winners for me here, but if there's something better for the same price I'm interested. I guess I have a couple of weeks to decide before the pre-orders close.

nothing in the mid range market has 4 years of major OS updates like samsung. 2 years max for other android manufacturers and even then its patchy

  • Is there a way to check Trade In value without having to install the app on your phone?

  • +1

i like the a series. last year i bought the a72 for my mum and it’s a decent phone for the money. comparing it to my s21+ the software updates are a little slower, eg my s21 has just been updated to one uni 4.1 whereas the a72 is still on 4.0.

included buds is a really nice bonus. if i had to replace my s21 i would most likely jump on this deal, i really miss the micro sd card

  • Does anyone know how much time you get to send in a trade in phone?

When does the clock start ticking? Is it after you received the new phone, so you have time to transfer your data across?

  • Hi OP has this expired?

    • I just checked and the deal is still available.

      • Actually, sorry yes, the pre-order has finished and you can't get the phone with the buds.

        • Thought so. Trade in bonus is also gone it seems.

  • Anyone here ordered off Samsung store before and can advise what they're like when it comes to eta's?

  • +1

Anyone got theirs yet? I ordered over a week ago and they're still processing

    • +1

Nope. Ordered on the 20th, CSR said it'll be delivered 19 May due to low stock :/
This is typical of Samsung for direct pre-orders when looking at other threads…

      • Cheers for the heads up, won't bother following up with them until late May.

  • Received a text off Samsung, 1 of the 2 I ordered supposedly due to be delivered tomorrow. No word on the other.

    • Second order has turned up and first one due to be delivered Friday.

      • Both orders delivered, pretty happy with delivery time and phones seem decent enough for what I paid (~$590 + free galaxy buds2), perfect for dad as it's a large enough screen and has loud speakers so he can watch his whatsapp videos at max volume and drive mum insane.
