    It's brushed. Powerful though, I've cut through scaffholding tubes, concrete as Deep as the blade allows easily. Only real downside is that the battery life will be a bit worse. Brushes last for many, many years for most people, and it's a 2min job to change them (access ports on both sides, needs a single flat headed screwdriver).

    Personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about brushes vs brushless. Check the torque/speed ratings out on makita stuff, they still make tools in both types with various ratings. With the drills, their base model brushless has significantly less torque than their budget brushed model.
