Check out DC rainmaker review here

Old watch superseeded by newer ones.
Probably useful for nice group of people

For most people looking for a garmin for sports tracking 245 for $20 more is a better buy

instinct still has way better display than 245, I had one.

  • Sea foam colour https://www.amazon.com.au/Garmin-010-02064-01-Instinct-Tundr…
Pity the solar version isn't $229!

  • Thanks OP, after my Apple Watch Series 3 broke 2 months ago I went back to rocking an old G-Shock for the time being. What I’ve learnt in these past few months is that I miss the fitness tracking features, recording runs etc as well as notifications to get me to look at my phone, but I never used a single app on the Apple Watch… and it always bothered me (having been a G-Shock wearer) how fragile they can be. I’m actually amazed I didn’t break the Apple Watch much sooner and the thought of spending a princely some on a new one that I would have to worry about all over again wasn’t appealing. Not to mention having to charge it every day was balls.

So I was already wed to the idea of giving Garmin a go this time round but again, not convinced I could justify a Fenix as I would probably only use the basics. The Instinct line seems to tick the box. Only the features I care about, rugged design that looks like it will take a beating and great battery life.

I toyed with the idea of getting the Tundra but decided to spend $20 more on the Graphite so it’s less of a fashion statement.

For what it’s worth I noticed a few places seem to be selling the Instinct at reduced prices so if Amazon isn’t your thing you might have options. This is likely cause there is an Instinct 2 now available but it doesn’t seem to add a whole lot to the 1.

    • There's a huge difference between the Instinct 1 and 2 with regards to features:

The prices have a huge difference too.

You are right, Instinct 2 does add a whole heap of features. I should have qualified my statement better by saying the Instinct 2 doesn't add features that are missing for my needs, especially at double the price :)

  • Should i buy this. ? All i need is simple stop watch.

    • there are normal watches that come with a stopwatch function. mostly digital (that i know of) but some analog watches also come with this function.

if you only need a stop watch, there is no point shelling out 230 dollars for a watch when there are watches like this which come with that, and many other functions, for 70 dollars.

there are probably even cheaper watches around with a stopwatch, that's just one of the first ones i saw with a quick search.

    • Use stop watch function on your phone

      • No I n÷d it for swimming thats why.

        • You could also go 2nd hand. You can pickup older models for under or around 100. Just be aware battery life can halve after a few years of constant use. If it's just for an hr or 2 of activity, you're fine.

    • Yeah. Has stopwatch

  • I've had mine for a few years and I can't fault it. It's a very well built watch. I mainly only use it for notifications, step count, weather and the odd timer. The display is great especially in sunlight and the battery life is phenomenal. Usually lasts me 2-3 weeks with little to no GPS use.

    • Cool. I may get the instinct 2.

  • It's a great watch, at a great price
