  • Can it store files directly onto your network?

    • +3

Supports ONVIF and RTSP so you could.

  • Is this ONVIF-able?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • +4

Hmm, requires app sign up to activate cameras, even if you dont want to use cloud.
And sends all passwords used in plain text.

Not a deal breaker; you can use throwaway accounts, but it's worth knowing.

    • Not possible for everyone, but if it's Cloud connected then you should separate it from PCs, storage etc. on your network. My IOT stuff is on a separate VLAN with only the cameras being allowed through on a couple of ports on the firewall. Most IOT/Cloud stuff should be fine, but I'd rather not have a "black box" sharing my LAN with other stuff and having free access to push data to the internet.

With these ones, if it's using plain text for anything, it's not getting internet access. The only access will be image/stream pulls from my Shinobi CCTV system.

  • Dumb question, Can it be used as a web cam?

    • +1

It would have delay, but there are several ways to view an IP camera as a webcam, yes.
Would be cool for b-roll or such, but the delay between lip sync would be noticable for a human.

      • Thanks for the info, I'll pass then.

        It would have delay

So would be fine for public service jobs then…

  • I see RTSP and ONVIF but can anyone confirm this works fine with surveillance station?

      Did you buy one?

      • No, I'm looking for PoE cameras.

        • +1

Finding small POE cameras seems to be a pain. Anything this kind of size seems to need an external USB power supply. The Ethernet/POE circuitry is tiny so it's possible but I don't think the market for it is big enough for many manufacturers to bother with.

@banana365: what about using something like this or this ?

Yes it's not small, but gets rid of the need for USB power at the camera.

            • @spaij: It is a bit bulky but it would be handy for some other things I have planned, so thanks for drawing my attention to those. I hadn't realised they were available.

              • @banana365: you can also get similar devices, for 12V things.

Also you can get 12V dongles that you can put on both ends of a normal ethernet cable, so you can send 12V + ethernet down a single ethernet cable (not needing PoE). It's good to keep in mind that they exist off the shelf for projects.

  • Anyone used this camera with the ffmpeg plugin for Home bridge or HA?

So many acronyms I need to lookup

  • Frame Rate? 25FPS?
