  • I attempted to claim home rates and car rego with this, but they said both need to be in my company's name (they're not) and I needed proof within the past 3 months.. So I cancelled my claim.

    • If you are sole trader with no business name, why do they expect you to get company name?

    • I have claimed both of these as a sole trader without issue

      • I am sole trader with a company name, but my home rates and rego are in my wife & I's name.

        Maybe I should try again.

Some of RMS staff so incompetent so I will suggest apply again.

If your rates notices are under both you and partner name, you should be at least able to claim 50%.

          • @Ash-Say: Hi Ash, pardon my ignorance. What is home rates? My home is on my wife an Myself name. I have my own ABN (Pty Ltd). Me and my wife are director in this company and claimed the car rego on company nane. What else i can claim?

            • @toyapple9: If your business is home based, you should both be able to claim 50% of council rates for this property. Your wife will need to apply separately.

              • @Ash-Say: Thanks Ash for your quick reply. We pay council rate quaterly so i can submit 25% of paid invoice under my claim and 25% of paid invoice as my wife claim? Pls confirm. Also for how many past quarters we can submit the claim?

              • @Ash-Say: If you claim council rates on your property eg working from home, wont that raise capital gains tax issues if you sell the place down the track?

                • @BigMac2000: I don't know TBH

Probably worth ringing RMS to clarify.

  • Under ABN, Can we claim RAT test for two employees going for international holidays?

  • So your saying my wife runs her painting (artworks) business from home as a sole trader mean we can claim 50% of rates ?

The list of things to claim is enormous. Is it the case hat you can put in one claim and pick as many things as you can, with a maximum rebate value of 3k? And that if you claimed a smaller amount then you wouldn't be able to claim again if you found something else? That would make it hard if you get a poor service NSW rep

@jackson..total amount is 3k..so you can submit one or multiple seperate claim.Once they are approved. Amount will be reduced from total 3k and you can submit future claims until June2022 for remaining balance.

  • Looking forward to claiming back some Road Toll fees too.

  • Claimed a few road tolls initially before it got updated to $3k. Tried to claim the remaining $1k with the same process however the service nsw rep keeps asking for a tax invoice? E toll don’t send tax invoices they send monthly statements, has anyone had this issue?

  • Claimed water rate and council rate as a sole trader without issue.

    • Which category did you select for water rates?

So I've got a small Pty Ltd business with no employees operating from home - which I am renting.. Anything I can claim from the above?

  • Shouldn’t this topic move to forum?
    This is not a bargain…

  • How soon can the rebate be paid after you submitted the claim?

  • Anyone knows where to update your bank account in services NSW? Made a claim and the message says if approved they'll pay directly to the account linked to the business but there's nowhere to put in the bank account details

  • So water rates, council rates. How about strata lol?
What else is good to claim for a small home business?

    • I don't think you can claim strata
