Back on sale are these previously popular Zigbee Window/Door Sensors from Aqara. These come in a pack of 2 with free priority shipping.

These sensors are designed to detect when a door or window has been opened/closed and can trigger an alarm or notification to a Zigbee hub or your phone. They can be setup to interact with other sensors, like turning on your smart lights when a door has been opened.

It requires the use of a Zigbee hub to function and it's compatible with many brands including Aqara, Xiaomi, Conbee and more. The sensors also support Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Home Assistant (when paired with a Zigbee hub).

    • Cheapest price is US$23.18 / ~A$31.33 inc GST on that listing, so it's more expensive and doesn't have free priority shipping.

  • Nice! thanks OP was thinking of buying some..

No use for windows sensor if you got a Mac

    • Exactly, no one is going to break in for such a poor return.

nah they probably woudn't steal a mac or iphone because they might face time

          Good one

    • this is perfect for the laundry room door sensor to light on when the door is open and turn off the light when the door is closed. Of course, you need the Xiaomi Smart home ecosystem ( smart light bulb or smart plug to light on the downlight.)

      • Or apple homekit or nodered or home assistant or habitat etc with ZigBee dongle

  • Thanks OP ordered some.

These are the ZHWG11LM. I have MCCGQ14LM. I wonder what the difference is?

Edit: The MCCGQ14LM is Zigbee 3.0. (Not sure what the difference is though.)

BTW you can use one of these door/window sensors to convert a rain gauge to wireless. https://community.home-assistant.io/t/diy-zigbee-rain-gauge/…

Zigbee 3.0 in the MCCGQ14LM is the only difference between the two. If you have a Zigbee 3.0 gateway then you'll be able to have more devices on the network than an older one.

  • Check on my Xiaomi Home.. "the device is not compatible".
I assume it needs specific Zigbee hub.. instead of Mi control Hub

What did you set your Xiaomi region to? If it's Australia you'll want to switch it to China.

  • Currently with Amazon Alexa there's about a 15 second delay for Xiaomi Mi Home skill sensor actions into Alexa routines, which makes it REALLY annoying for a wardrobe and pantry light switch action. Xiaomi/aquara and alexa have a rocky relationship. Whenever I try and get help from Amazon they tell me it's a xiaomi skill issue and to talk to xiaomi, and when I contact xiaomi they tell me to contact Amazon….

  • Back in stock, coupon still valid if anyone is still after them.

BTW, would be great to see a deal on the Aqara FP1 as they are pretty pricey (though unlikely as they also very hard to come by). Looks like a great sensor, if only they added PIR for faster initial detection.)
