  • it says 12.99 for me

    • Says $7.99 for me, and temporarily out of stock
Ordered anyway 😂 as seems to be CCC ATL

    • $12.99 is sold by Memoski. $7.99 is sold by Amazon and temporarily out of stock.
You can find it in the other sellers on Amazon list and add it to your cart.

Isn't this the one that would overheat and start fires?

    • +3

Will grab one for the survival kit so.

    • +1

Good for winter. I'm surprised they're not charging extra for that function.

    • Had two in different sizes for a few years now, no issues

    • I've got the 128gb and yeah, the thing gets HOT

  • So I'm on prime trial and it expires tomorrow, what happens if I order it today, will I get charge for shipping when they stock it?

    • +2

I don't believe so. I think it is processed when you place the order. Correct me if I'm wrong.

      • It has to be like this, any other way makes no sense at all.

    • +1

I have done exactly this before with months until the products were in stock. Your shipping is based on when you place the order, ie today with free delivery.

  • 21.39 for 128gb, Amazon au, allowed to use amazon promotional credit if you haven't used up, the $75 gift card, $5 promo cedit expire 31 may. Anyone who used the device, did they install the mobile app come with the USB?

    • +4

Have this device, have used for the phone, didn't install the mobile app. Worked fine without it.

      • Thanks for the info. Will look into possibly getting a larger one to backup my wife's phone.

        • Can use on the go adapter to a USB A thing drive

@abacus: Got plenty of ways to backup her phone but all of them involve me. I was hoping to get something like this just so she can do it herself. Also helps to have a different USB stick to help us tell what is what without having to plug it in.

        • The 128 GB one was $29 last week, price dropped on Monday, it was $20.49 in February, should've bought. Got more than 100 plus votes last year when it was more than $22.5.

          • @htc: Never really occurred to me to buy something like this so she can backup her stuff herself. I'll put up some camel alerts and keep an eye out for similar products. Not quite sure how big to get but they aren't too expensive as long as you don't need something enormous.

            • @ozbs25: Never occur to me to buy last year even though I had a phone with USB C connection, later realised I should get this as it will make file transfer easier, I was waiting for 128 GB as it will last me a long time, I think 32gb is a bit too small for an upgrade, 256 GB has been 16bucks but only lasted a short time before expiry. cheapest on Amazon as more expensive on JB and officeworks, I think 128 GB is not even available on officeworks, if it is, you may price match on officeworks to get it 5% cheaper, and given there is a physical store, easier for return if problem arise.

  • I am looking for a USB thumb drive that is fast for read/write but does not heat up like the sandisk i have - mainly using it for installation of operating systems (windows, linux, etc). Any recommendation?

    • +1

I bought this one 2 years ago as a persistent linux live usb that I actually use as my daily driver and it hasn't skipped a beat.

      • thanks for the share. It seems it has good read speed and okayish write speed. and the 64GB version seems to have more bang for the dollar. I will look into this one. Cheers mate.

I purchased one of these two or so years ago.
If the design has not changed I severely recommend against them as the slider to swap between C and A does not have enough resistance to enter the device and makes it a real pain to use.
Maybe I got a shitty unit tho

It is a bit hit and miss for sure depending on the device you are inserting into and the port location.
I don't use it often so it doesn't irritate me too much but agreed it isn't the strongest of mechanisms and if you don't have your finger behind the slide catch when you are pushing it in with force, it is possible for it to retract.
As a compact and robust unit for emergency file transfer and backup it is great. I have other drives for more daily activities.
