Please note this is the Chinese version (you can translate in Chrome or use the English app). It also appears to come with the US plug only.

The global version is the Xiaomi Mi AIot Router AX1800 and I understand the AX5 can be flashed with the global firmware.

Crazy price for a very capable WiFi6 router, Xiaomi mesh unit or access point.

      hello comrade!

        • That sounds as herd stereotype. In my 4+ languages, comrade is Honest, Social, Faithful, Capable… (doesn't sound good in English, does it? ;)

"possibly due to chinese people can handle more radiation dosage than non chinese" ?????

    • +1

so don't use wifi then it is better for your health.

      • yeah probably should stay away from any light source include the sun which is the worst as well if one cant even stand the energy from wifi wave….

      • -3

its a joke, as to why the signal is better in the china version when compared to the global version. Are you guys some sort of woke lgbtxyzbbqwtf type and cant handle a race joke?

    • doesnt support openwrt

Probably never will, due to a combination of Qualcomm support on newer hardware being a dumpster fire + ath11k requiring an absurd amount of memory compared to the stock firmware. (Only 256mb on here.)

You probably need to grab a slapped together QSDK build from somewhere, but I suspect you may object to the source.

the china version apparently has better wifi signal strength, possibly due to chinese people can handle more radiation dosage than non chinese

Australian transmit limits are higher by a factor of like 4 on 2.4ghz(36dbm vs 20), and mostly similar/higher on 5ghz. Not that it matters, since non-ionising. Leaky microwave would probably output more than your router.

However the "international" firmware really just means Europe, and I'm not sure what country selection options there are. I wouldn't be surprised if it were mostly US/EU/South Asia.

The regulatory database in their firmware is labelled with a 2017 date as well but that's disputable and not that huge a change.

  • Can I mesh this with my Xiaomi AloT AX3600?

  • +7

just fyi, this unit is retailed around 227 RMB in china which is around 40AUD.

    • 227RMB is more like 50AUD without GST, still half price

    Ah, missed the deal
was trying to get one for our friend Albo.
But I am sure he and his fellows are being directly monitored
which makes all the back doors of this router redundant. :)

What kind of retarded BS is this? Or as Scotty from Marketing/Maccas/Hillsong would say maybe your parents were not as blessed as Jenny and him.

  • is this shipped via solomon islands?

  • Can't get my ax1800 to work with vpn as there's no field for Tunnel password

Anyone know how to get vpn on this router? Don't think it can be flashed to anything more open either.

Otherwise, excellent router, have had my Xiaomi for a few months now

  • wow. i'm a new fan of xiaomi routers, seem to be openwrt compatible

    • Are you sure?
      This page says not supported
      https://openwrt.org/inbox/toh/xiaomi/xiaomi_ax1800

Another page says will never be supported, for reasons including not enough ram

      • was wondering the same, but there are already couple tutorial on youtube teaching how to do it, need second openwrt router tho. and all video are in chinese.

        • nvm it was ax6.
however you can install shellclash onit tho

          • @Hornpub: yeah, i'm considering getting an chinese redmi ax6s @ ~US$66 to flash openwrt. xiaomi ax3600 doesn't seem to be available anymore. ax9000 is way too expensive for me.

  • Missed out but still a + for good deal.
