There is a pecial offer: $100 off included on Intel Core i5-2520M Processor for some lenovo laptop on their official site.

Core i5-2520M is a sandy bridge CPU which launched in Q1'11.

also work with most other low end i3 laptop include new E430 , L series and some others

Pick a i3 laptop and upgrade to i5 with $21 which I think is a good deal.

can combine with other offers like coupon etc.
Any thoughts?

  With the L520s they've fiddled with the numbers - the base model was cheaper a few weeks back, but if you do want the i5, it is better value now (at the expense of about 16% battery life during web browsing).

  See if you can hold out until the next 'weekend' sale.

  The current Lenovo coupon is AFF1315MAY (ends with Sunday 13 May). However so far I think all the coupon code excludes newly released E430/E530.

    can go for budget E420 / E520 … but no USB 3.. hmmm

    The i3 model usually got more options than the higer model, can upgrade the wifi module to support WIDI etc.

    Ivy Bridge is a pretty modest (/underwhelming) increase over Sandy Bridge. I wouldn't really worry about SB now being one generation old because its performance is still exceptional.
