This one started today, but I went into my Optus App to get it and there was a 50% off data sim offer that stacked with the $0 Tablet.

Has to be 30gb data plan or above.

So my deal was

$12.50 x 12 Months
Tab A8 64gb 4G
30 GB Data added to my data pool
$150 total cost.

    confirming chat said aslong as i do the 12 months (ill call to close at the end of the 12 month) i won't have to pay for the device
    had the 50% off for the dataplan so got 12.50 for 30gb and a tablet :)

    was looking for something to watch EPL + Jellyfin

    when i try to add a new service ( the first option ) it asks to to choose a mobile plan ( after clicking the tablet @ $0, discount tablet plan @ $12.50 ) then say add new service and can't get any further without having to choose a phone plan.. what am i doing wrong ?

    How long is the confirmation email taking for everyone? Got two with order number that don't track and no email. Live chat is saying 4-24 hours.

    • Received my account creation and order confirmation emails within a couple of minutes.

    • Got order confirmation right after purchase a while ago but still can't see any contract or orders in my account… in live chat with them right now.

      • Same here… Been waiting on the chat agent since. No response to my enquiry yet. How did you go?

        • Gave up eventually, went nowhere. They continued to transfer me to different agents, asking me the same questions. Final transfer still hadn't happened after like 15 mins, so I ended it there.

          • @MiscOzB: When I log into the app I can track my order it states order status is pending.

            I have an optus account from before which I used to order 2 units but I don't have an active mobile number.

            I'll contact live chat tomorrow and see what I can find out. I doubt they will decline it. Probably need a manual approval for not having a number? I have no idea. If they don't honour the discounted monthly payment of 12.50 I will tell them cancel both orders.

    • I got both emails for 2 orders within seconds and they are showing in my acct. I had to use 2 seperare cards though as the 2nd order would not go through on the first card I used. Will just change it on Tuesday to the one card

      I dont think these offers join the data pool and but could be wrong

    Is anyone upgrading their existing $7.50/month service to this? Doesn't that make it even cheaper overall (ie.a better deal), effectively? As we're already paying $7.50/mth.

      Yes and yes. Just make sure you select the ‘upgrading current plan’ or whatever during the application.

        It was a previous deal on Ozbargain. 5Gb/month data SIM ("small plan") with Amazon Prime and Optus Sport bundled in via SubHub.

    No credit check for existing Optus customers, you are asked to confirm the delivery address and enter payment details and that is it.

    Got a SMS order confirmation and email confirmation after placing the order.

    Used a family member's optus account who has a postpaid mobile plan.

  • Asked a rep to update some old account details which I couldn't change through the portal, and they also told myself my order (done 10 minutes after the deal had been posted) for this had been "approved" a few minutes ago.

  • I gave my old optus account and it worked. I am not using optus number now. Will it port my existing service or just add 30 gb data with no phone number attached.

      • Yeah there is some random number attached. Will they send us new sim with that new number. Actually I gave my number in portal but that number is now showing in contact number and not service number

          Exactly same for me, my current non-Optus number is the contact number and the random service number will be used for data plan, will get a sim along with tablet for use. Don’t think we can use the service no for anything else though

            @vinnyd23: Yeah but they should honour the sim and new number than. I have dual sim on my note. Can use cheap long term plan for talk and divert data to optus.Ripper of a deal

  • Ordered 2 cause twins, good deal to upgrade them from an iPad 2. Cashback only tracked at $30 not at $55 for device and sim.

      Bad news for ya ,

      • Cashback is eligible on new sign ups only.

      • Cashback is ineligible on: recontracts, rate plan changes, upgrades, small & medium business orders, orders where credit check is declined.

    I feel for the optus employee that's tasked with cancelling the majority of these Orders!!

    • I think they'd still end up making profit on this. Many people will forget to cancel etc etc

    I recall a deal a couple of years ago similar to this where virtually all orders where cancelled with the exception of a few lucky ones. Think that may have been Vodafone. I got caught up in that hence why I'm not bothered with this no matter how good the deal looks…

      I never understand this logic. It takes you 5 mins of work for a small chance to score a killer deal. If it gets cancelled so be it. You dont pay anything until after your first month anyway. Is your 5 mins worth $300?

        Not worth the trouble when the outcome is inevitable… How on this planet can Optus make a profit from this? They will honour a few, the rest will inevitably be cancelled…

        Ironically, the fact that so many people signed up (it sounds like a lot of whom don't even really want it) is likely what will get this deal cancelled.

    already have a 7.5/m plan with optus, and failed to place an order (upgrade my current plan).
    Only got a temporary order number, need to wait for a sales rep to contact me.

    Incredible deal

    I was paying $14.95 a month for Optus sport. Now paying $12.50 and get a Tablet with a data plan. Cash rewards didn't seam to track though.

    • Should be straight away - if it didnt't, your order is stuck for manual ID or credit check.

      You will need to wait for 48 hrs for their further instructions.
