I don’t think so. I’d imagine that they probably have a heap of old stock on their books and this is the best way to move it. Data costs them next to nothing, so they are making $150 for the tablets and may also get some long term customers out of it as well.
I didn't know I had an Optus account, after reset the password and went to the order page, it has already got all my information prefill in grey area I cant change, however it has my date of birth out by 1 day and my email address is showing a weird Optussomethingsomething, has anyone experienced this? I am not signing up until I have this figured out……………

When I entered my details originally I swore I double checked it but on the final page of checkout it had my date of birth out by 1 day also, how weird. I just edited it and it seemed to have saved without issues
My DOB was out by one too, and I couldn't change it. I just forged ahead and then the actual date on the contract was my actual DOB….. No idea why!! Must be a glitch in their system
That's weird, my birthdate was also 1 day out. I just ignored and went ahead with the order. Confirmation received within a minute of placing order
What about the email address? You guys are able to input your actual email address? I cant edit it at all……………
@Aerith-Waifu: I had no issues inputting my email address but maybe because it was a new account, and I was able to edit it all my info just before the final page

Looks pretty similar to the Realme Pad in terms of design. Same CPU being used by Blackview / Chuwi / Nokia in their tablets and same screen size and resolution.
Samsung looks like they're taking the ODM design off the shelf like everyone else.
Good price with this deal from OP, I wouldn't pay a dime more in retail shops for this tablet.

You can usually use a combination of both Proof of Age and Birth Certificate if you don't have either of the DL or PP
I know that you can use those as valid forms of ID instore, but I'm not sure about using them for an online order. You might have to hit up live chat and see what they can do for you. We really need some form of digital Proof of Age that is as widely accepted as a driver's licence.

Better suited to one task at a time. The amount of RAM isn't the limiting factor but rather the Unisoc CPU is really slow for a device with a $528.40 RRP. It's not even close to the performance of a base $499 iPad 10.2", which is 2-3x faster and could handle multitasking a lot better.
This is still a great deal considering the tablet specs is a great deal by itself at $200-230 (+ whatever you value 4G connectivity at) and comes with 4 years of updates unlike imported cheap Chinese Android tablets which get abandoned quickly, as well as 360GB of data over 12 months & free Optus Sport ($5-15/mo).
But if you don't know much about cheap Android tablets, you aren't getting a base iPad competitor with all these extras for $150, you still get what you pay for. No active stylus (S Pen) or Samsung DeX support with this A8 either.

Just be aware. Apps can't be loaded on the SD. Further investigation done. There was an update for the A7, which allowed some Apps to be moved, however it's very hit and miss with it reporting the app being moved, but storage shows no improvement to internal storage use. I've decided it's not worth the pain and ordered a 128gb. Will be returning the 64gb, which I have to apparently wait for then return. Odd seeing as the order is still Pending. Oh well.

What about in terns of android and security updates? Are they important? The tab s4 has android 10 which I think that's the last version it would get while A8 I think will get v14 if not mistake. Sorry still lots to learn tab s4 is my first android tablet.
While security updates are important, your overall user experience with A8 will not be the same as the S4. There will be times A8 be less responsive.

Coming from the Tab S4, the display on this will look like a 90s pos. LOL trust me I cannot go back to TFT on mobile devices after getting used to OLEDs.
Thanks wizko. The main concern is the OLED and TFT. Not sure if I'll be able to go back to TFT. I'm more concern about the update if the S4 will eventually getting slower and also app start not supported by Android 10.
Your concerns with app support won't be an issue until many more years. And your S4 has a chip that's still faster than this Tab A8. Samsung's mid-range tablets are gimped beyond reason, when you do eventually upgrade get an S series tablet.
