HEKKABV11

Back with another Android tablet deal and this one hasn't been so low since the pre-release deal and thanks to an improved exchange rate it's even cheaper. Available in Gray, Silver and Blue.

Out of all the Android tablets I've shared the last few months this is the one I'm currently using. The build quality is good, the display looks good, performance is snappy and I really love the Blue colour. The only downside is that despite having Widevine L1 DRM and UNISOC being white listed, Netflix does not have HD playback. The reason is that Netflix have yet to whitelist this specific device. I personally don't use Netflix so it's not an issue for me.

As for the specs it features Android 11 with Google Play, 10.36" 2000x1200 IPS Display, 8GB RAM, 128GB Storage (microSD support), UNISOC T618 Octa-Core CPU, 4G LTE, 6580mAh battery with USB-C, Sony IMX219 8MP Front Camera, Sony IMX258 13MP Rear Camera, WiFi 5/BT5.0, 3.5mm audio, GPS and FM Radio.

  • Do you know if this supports video out ?

    • +3

No video out via USB-C. You'd have to use a Chromecast or similar.

      • Or maybe buy a DisplayLink dock? That should work with anything? Lots of second hand Targus ones on eBay that ship from USA

  • How easy is it - if at all - to root this one?

    • +16

I'm not sure the holes are big enough.

  • Can you sideload Netflix for HD video?

    • No Netflix has to whitelist each device.

  • +1

Never heard of this brand. Clear, do you know waht it is branded in China?

    • +4

Blackview and they're for the global market. They're more known for their rugged phones.

      • And for their dash cams of its the same brand?

        • +5

          That's Blackvue.

          • @Clear: actually he could be right too. blackview is (also) a brand of dashcam sold on JD.

        • Different company

  • @Clear. … do you know if there are any suitable "pens" that will work with this unit ?

Do you know if Amazon Prime works or that is locked out as well ?

How do you find the battery life? Yes I looked at Hekka's page … but seeing that you own one .. be good to hear from real world experience :D

    • +2

I don't really know enough about styluses to recommend one. I assume any?

Prime when I tested it was SD also. Battery life I get about 7-8 hours.

  • +17

I would go for tab A8.

  • Good for gamimg?

    • T618 is similar to SD632. Entry level.

  • It comes up $190.99 USD for me

    • With the coupon HEKKABV11?

      • +1

Oh, Im trying to buy 2. It does down to 175 USD when buying 1

  • Issues with shipping to Metro Sydney?
"This order can’t be shipped to the address you entered. Review your address to ensure that all fields have been entered correctly and try again."

    • I'm having the same issue for Metro Brisbane. Did you end up getting it sorted?

      • Seems to have sorted itself out.
Same email addresses now working. Wierd.

    • Same issue for metro Perth

    • Found the problem, it was the dots in my email like [email protected], changing to [email protected] fixed it

  • +16

We all have a Samsung tab now, but cheers for posting

    • +14

      Sorry to hear that.

  • only 2 gigs ram and no updates still on android 10,
8 weeks delivery not to mention huge bezels and a chip that is 3 generation behind.

    • +15

Sounds like you have a terrible Samsung tablet.

  • This used to be called Black Chilli
now it is called Black View

  • +2

I have one of these tablets from the initial sale promo on aliexpress.
Great display, bright and no flicker irritation (rare for me on a cheap tablet).
Speakers sound better than I expected
included cover/stand and having 4G are a bonus (but no band 28)

My tablet does not weigh 460g as they state, it is just over 500g

    • Use Malwarebytes to destroy two found malware files.

      • Thanks - can you tell me the files you found?

        • +1

          Files found in preinstalled games.

          • @aboabo: thanks - I scanned my tablet but no malware found.
I most likely removed the games though when I set it up (it was a few months ago)

    • Does it have any kids mode like the lenovo tab? Thanks.

      • +1

I cannot see anything on the tablet specifically.
It does have the digital wellbeing and parental control set in the settings with parental controls (supervise tablet from your phone), bedtime mode (silent/grayscale at a specific time) and focus mode (hide notifications from specific apps to a schedule).

  • Which tablet do you recommend just for YouTube and Netflix.

    • You can't go wrong with the Samsung tab A8 if you mainly want to stream video, check emails and web surf ECT plus any apps you regularly use. But don't buy the 32gb version it has less ram and you'll likely encounter issues faster than with the 64/128gb. I bought the 128gb and added a 256gb SD card (128 would've been plenty but there was a deal on larger capacity) so I don't have to delete anything or upload to cloud.
10.5" display which is LCD but honestly it's more than enough (but you can notice the difference if you also have a OMOLED)
If you are patient you'll be able to grab one for under $200

      • It's already $150 on the Optus deal

  • +1

Has anyone had any experience with this tablet and the DJI Fly app, or could recommend a midrange tablet?

Android drone compatibility can be a bit of a crapshoot at times. It isn't listed in the official DJI compatibility list nor one of the better third party lists, however it has a 64bit processor and some other T618-equipped tabs make the unofficial list.

    • +1

I've been looking for a bright screen cheap tablet for ages. This one is only 350 nits, I had a Lenovo that was about the same, I'd avoid.

Most tablets if you side load dji app and fiddle with developer mode you should be able to get it to work. There'd be a big market for a simple bright tablet for droning (that doesn't cost $800+)

      • Thanks for the comments and very useful tips on brightness. I've looked a little more and think this won't be the one for me. Ideally I could find one with a reasonable screen, root-able and closer-to-stock Android. Phone works fine in the meantime, so I can afford to wait.

  • Good deal, equivalent alldocube/teclast are 6gb ram with same SoC, only problem is I can't seem to order it for my metro Perth address

  • Which one was the unisoc t618 chip tablet which had a non-laminated screen?

    • +1

      BMAX i10 Plus.

  • +1

    Issues with shipping now resolved

  • the advantage of tablets having 4g is they usually have gps

  • +1

Are there any cheap tablets that can Goto 450+ nits?

Just spent another hour on AliExpress, everything topped out at 400, and then jumped to 600 and $500+ at which point: hello iPad

Any suggestions for a case for it?

    • -1

The one that is included would be a start…

      • "Accessories:
        1 x Tab 11 Tablet
        1 x Power Adapter(EU)
        1 x USB cable
        1 x User Manual"

It doesn't list a case as being included. The description does mention a case being offered, does that mean a case is included, or that you have the potential to buy a matching case for it.

        • -2

          Check out any unboxing video

          • @aibargain: doubling down isn't a helpful contribution to this thread.

@mskram - no case suggestions from me, sorry.

As mskram mentioned, neither the text of the listing itemising the inclusions, or the images suggest one is included. Your 'any unboxing video' analogy is like assuming that a discounted car comes with $InsertFeatureHere just because the review version you read about in a paper had one.

It isn't uncommon for manufacturers to initially offer freebies (especially when an item is brand new and/or alternative cases aren't yet available) and claw back on later bundles/SKUs as a margin-preserving exercise. Blackview's Aliexpress page (from Clear's last deal) still still mentions a 'bonus' case, so I'd expect that the cover was just a sweetener available only when buying direct from the manufacturer, rather than something in the versions on the wholesale market for resale.

            • @timmypete: Well well. Double down eh? Maybe their listing is just incomplete?
Arrived today with contents exactly as unboxing video. Nice case included and screen cover BTW.

Maybe you could give a single example of any other tablet that comes with initial freebies? Seeing as tho it’s “not uncommon”.

Ask anyone else who’s BV Tab 11 arrived, you clearly have your own steadfast opinions.

              • +1

@aibargain: I'm glad it worked out for you and a case was there after all.

Respectfully, I still don't think the first comment was particularly helpful, as the listing wasn't at all clear.

It wasn't meant an attack, and I'm sorry it came across that way.

Thanks for documenting a case was included. Hopefully it helps these sorts of situations with this seller in the future.

        • Case is not fantastic but colour coordinated as per unboxing videos.

  • Thanks CLEAR I've been wanting a tablet to read books and WiFi and thought I'd have to spend a lot more ….never heard of Hekka before it seems they're Singapore based

  • Bunch of people's A8's getting cancelled, deals starting to look tasty.

  • Thanks. Bought one. Hopefully is good.

  • Dammit clear, gonna grab one of these almost exclusively for running asiair and astrophotography, some light gaming. Between your write up and kimovil this send baby6 for buck unbeatable

    Keyboard and pen suggestions?

    • I'm not sure this tablet has active pen support, if it does, I'm open to hearing it

    • Interested to know too. Someone commented on amazon US Q&A not supported while alliexpress sell stylus that claim to support tab 8 and 11.

      • Stylus and active stylus are different things. Anything with a touchscreen is going to support the former.

        • So this doesn't have the latter support then?

  • Have anyone receive an update for their order? Emailed them today and have no heard back.

Started looking for a case and not much available. It have similar size with Nokia T20, i think it might fit, i guess only the camera might not align?
    both same screen size.

    T20 - 247.6 x 157.5 x 7.8 mm, 10.4" screen
    Tab 11 - 247 x 156.7 x 8.1 mm, 10.36" screen

    • Mine has theoretically been sent but the tracking number doesn't track yet.

    • Sent 5 days ago
Paypal sent notification of shipping with tracking number, but its not moving, stuck in Covid lockdown limbo?
Paypal message from DTGC PTE. LTD "[email protected]"

    • They replied me saying will dispatch ASAP last week but still no status change. So hopefully soon..

      • My one arrived today. I ordered on 25/4.

    • @winderic, what case did you end up buying?

  • Great deal as always from Clear. w.r.t "The only downside is that despite having Widevine L1 DRM and UNISOC being white listed, Netflix does not have HD playback. The reason is that Netflix have yet to whitelist this specific device."

Does Amazon Prime stream in HD and would it be long before Netflix whitelists the device? Battery life of 6580mAh seems to be the only other slight drawback. Would have been nice to have 7000+. Hopefully it gets an upgrade to Android 12 in the future.

    • Clear stated earlier that Prime was also SD. I'm wondering about Android 12 too, it looks like Blackview has updated phones before so there may be the possibility.

  • Thoughts on this review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJBrnMV9qH0 ?

One reviewer / user's bad experience?

    • He's really ignorant in how he talks about tablets and it shits me lol. The tablet has Widevine L1, the CPU has been whitelisted by Netflix, BUT the tablet itself has not been whitelisted by Netflix so it's not Blackview's fault Netflix is in SD. They've done everything correct and the issue lies with Netflix for not whitelisting devices that meet the criteria. This isn't limited to Blackview either - Netflix are being difficult by having this extra step

The issue about the tablet "suddenly dying". A more accurate explanation is that he was sent a review unit before release and hasn't used it since so the battery is at 0%. According to Blackview there is an issue where a USB Power Delivery charger (USB-C to USB-C) may be unable to charge the tablet when it's at 0%. Their recommendation is to use a USB charger with a USB-A to USB-C cable and that'll get it up from being deadflat.

      • Great challenge and thank you for clearing the air, @Clear, pun intended =). For people who want a budget tablet but want to be sure of Netflix and Prime HD playback, what do you recommend?

        • Nothing really from the budget brands. Samsung Tab A8 uses the same UNISOC CPU with 4GB RAM and supports it.

          • @Clear: Yeah and because of Samsung's brand and customer base, the likes of Netflix are not likely to blacklist the device. Missed the few good deals posted by Amazon in March/April. Hoping for another post soon, would prefer the A8 over the P11, given that people have posted the downgrade from L1 to L3 on Lenovo's support forum and have had no resolution -> https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Android-based-Tablets-an…

            • @jjtav: I believe it's a case of the manufacturers and their dev teams being lax with code in new software updates, which generally trigger Widevine downgrades from L3 to L1. Interesting read here -> https://piunikaweb.com/2022/03/11/opinion-android-oems-need-…

Presumably, manufacturers like Samsung with more resources and tighter release processes are not prone to these issues, but are not totally immune either.

              • +1

@jjtav: That's not the case with Blackview though. The tablet is still L1 and it's not been downgraded

                • @Clear: do you have any deals for the Samsung A8? Particularly because of the Widevine L1 issues on both the P11 and Blackview Tab 11

                  • @jjtav: They wouldn't be sold on Chinese platforms for good prices. Better trying to find something local like that Optus deal

                    • @Clear: Thanks, yeah I unfortunately missed out on the $150 Optus deal and the prior Amazon ones going for about $170-$190. Not sure if anyone's posting one soon, seems to have been exhausted.

  • I have tried to apply the code upon checkout.. It states the code does not exist.. I guess I missed out.. :(
