Gosh - how many office suite already that i bought because of deals advertised here in OzB!

  • Not to be confuse with Quickoffice Pro, the better known app with Google Play "Top Developer" accreditation. I have no need for either so can't say if it's any better or worse.

The irony, ThinkFree Office Mobile isn't free. It's currently listing at AUD$8.43 in Google Play.

  • bought one. thanks.

  • Reminder for people who have been collecting free app of the day from Amazon Appstore: this application was free for a day previously. Check your Amazon Appstore as there is a good chance you already have it for free.

    • I do believe the Amazon free app of the day was for OfficeSuite Pro 5 - This deal is for OfficeSuite Pro 6 (the differences are listed in the Google Play description).

I don't know if the differences are worth it though.

Mine says OfficeSuite Professional 6. It may have been 5 at the time, but you do get updates from Amazon Appstore.

Basically, if I logged in to Amazon appstore and then go to the Amazon link you posted, it shows an install button.

        • yep, i can confirm: the amazon free app of the day version has received the update to version 6 as well!

as i've mentioned on here before, OfficeSuite is the one i normally use (not because i've compared them all, just because it was the first on the list!), and i'm pretty happy with it.

  • This looks like a good buy.
New to android - is there any way I can buy aps from the play store without entering Credit card details into the tablet - dont trust the kids. With Apple I can buy an itunes card - is there something similar for the Play Store?

    • The only way is to use a prepaid credit card with limited credit inside. Google has introduced Google Wallet, but that's in the US only so far.

    • If you go into the Google Play app's Settings, there's an option to set a PIN before a purchase is made.

    • Sign up for a virtual credit card like Entropay.
Load funds into this credit card from your bank account (or debit card). It will only allow you to spend whatever funds have been loaded into the virtual card and not draw from your bank account again.
You can create as many virtual credit cards from the same account as you want

  • How does this compare to Polaris Office?

  • I am thinking of buying an android tablet in the near future, if i buy the app now, can i download it to my tablet in the future?

    • yes. buy once use forever. but sometimes they sneaky, they stop updating the one you bought and release a new version say a premium version and u have to buy that if u want more updates.

      yes. if under your account

    • Not really - unless you have an Android device which you can install the app to temporary for now. That's my main gripe with Google Market (you cannot buy (but not install) and park the app for later). You need to install the app to an Android device within 2 days (the sooner the better) AND do not uninstall it for an hour (uninstall it the next day if you don't want the app on your device just yet). Otherwise, Google think you don't want the app (or the app failed to install) and will cancel it + issue a refund automatically. You cannot purchase the app if you don't have a device that Google Play deems compatible.

During the 10 cents & 1 cent app promotion, I bought apps which I forgot to install in time. Google cancelled those orders (without checking with me). The install must complete successfully in time otherwise it leads to auto cancellation of the purchase.

Amazon Appstore does not have the same issue. Amazon is happy for you to just buy the app now and install whenever you feel like it. Other Android appstores are likely the same. With Amazon Appstore, you can even buy apps using a desktop PC or laptop Web browser.

The (free) trial period for Google Play has been reduced to 15 minutes so I believe the auto refund windows might have similarly narrowed.

One way of getting around the no current device to install on is to setup an Android emulator.

      • None of my apps from the 10c sales have disappeared and I only installed about 10 out of the 80 or so that I bought….

        • You sure you did not install them to other Android devices (or emulators) initially?

When you purchased each one of those apps on a PC, you had to pick a device for Google to push the app to - otherwise you cannot even purchase the app. Which device did you choose? Was that device turned off for the entire 10 days? If so, you might want to double check your other 70 apps.

Once you installed a paid app and kept it install for 30 minutes, the purchase gets finalised. After that, you can uninstall the app and the cancellation/refund process will not kick in - and you can install the app later.

I just checked, installed a couple of apps a few minutes ago. All working and all present. From memory I purchased both from the tablet and from the pc. Pushed it to my tablet and immediately cancelled the download before it would install.

Doing this would avoid going through the refund process if you installed the app all the way through then removed it within the first 15 minutes of purchase.

        • So you downloaded every app at least once - and all those downloads completed successfully.

Basically, just want to point out that if you purchased an app, it is best to push it to a running device. I pushed some apps to my Android tablet which was off for 3 days - so the downloads did not complete in time. I tried to push most apps to my cheap Android phone, but some apps (mainly games) seem to want a decent Android device.

        • Nope, I just said I cancelled the downloads before they installed. My tablet was on for every purchase though. Why would you have your tablet off for the entire 10 days anyway? If you bought every app, the minute you turn on your device you would get hit with 90 downloads at once. That would be crazy

        • Okay, I cannot edit some of my previous comments.

You don't have to install the app, but you need to download the app within 2 days. And, if you don't have a compatible device, you still cannot purchase. For example, if Gameloft does not set the game to be compatible with at least one of your devices, you cannot purchase the Gameloft game.

I dunno whether it applies to you or not. The main reason for me to push those apps to my tablet was because that was the only compatible device I have. In a way, unless you had a high end Android phone or a high end Android tablet at the time, you couldn't really purchase all the apps on special.

I +ve voted one of your comments as I did not know just a complete download is sufficient (it is good to know). However, I feel Google should still allow people to buy apps for their future devices. Not everyone was lucky enough to get an Acer A500 from GoodGuys at a bargain price.

on your pc, you can install bluestacks (android tablet emulator) that got good support for play store, then you can buy on your account.

  • Found a handy app called 'AppSales' that lets you know of sales of Android apps .
