Hint# if you don’t know it, you don’t need it.

  • Do I need this?

    • how big is your house block ?
mine is 395000 sqm so it useful for me

      • approx 800 sq metres.

  • I had to cancel after waiting 3month. Senscap was better for me.

15km wifi coverage, and it is "mining tokens" for you at the same time?? All for nearly $1,000?

Wow. I'm sure these will sell out in seconds.

    • +2

If I could trust it to get 15km non-directionally and it didn't let randoms on my network i'd pay $900 easy. Because we'd have four households paying only one internet fee… Worst case it'd pay for itself in 5 months

      • +1

Multiple families sharing .3 to 30 kbps give our take. Repeat that in words: kilobits per second. This not for Netflix.

        • It wasn't clear that I was generalising. I'd pay $900 for something suitable, but not this product.

          • +1

            @justtoreply: airMAX airFIBRE from Ubiquiti.

            • @CJ31: Aren't all those directional solutions though? I only want 3km range but need to go in three different directions

              • +1

@justtoreply: There are omni directional ones as well for the base. A better idea than 3 pairs.

I'm about out of knowledge, I've never set one up, just looked into it for a friend. There are a few good YouTube examples.

  • Why tag this with cryptocurrency?

    • -1

You need lots of bitcoins to afford it…

      • +3

        wrong, only needs 0.016 btc

    • Every second used it earns you 2c

    • Because it is used to mine Helium (HNT) which is a decentralised blockchain network (IOT).

    • This is a form of crypto mining used to incentivise setting up of a decentralised wifi network.
Interesting idea, but if you don't know what this is, then it's probably not for you.

      • What a load of BS. And what a terrible sales tactic? "It's probably not for you if you don't know what this new thing does… You should know already".

        • +1

          It's actually a good anti-sales tactic.

          More miners dilute the profit.

Move along people, there is nothing to see here.

        • +1

yep, fair point. I know people have made money off this, but it is very speculative. I'm not trying to sell it and wouldn't buy one myself, but each to his own.
I guess what I meant though, was that you really need to research what helium crypto is about before you would consider throwing $900 at it. (https://www.helium.com/)

  • +1

Seems they try sell what ever is popular at the time…

    • +1

yeah, I guess they want to maximise sales or something

      • All I say is just take a look at their previous 'bargains'

  • still waiting on my preorder direct from linxdot ordered Sept 26th 2021 for 399.00 GBP (about AUD$730) order expected Late January 2022 with delays think my batch is next so hopefully not much longer

    • I ordered in October. Ended up cancelling my order for a refund.

I've been running a different model. Earnings haven't been that exciting.

  • Got a tradie fren?

Ask them to buy it so that they can claim the GST.

  • +3

ROI depends heavily on location and setup (and of course the price of HNT). A good external setup includes external antenna, mast and cabling will set you back another $300.

To get an idea of typical earnings you can check you area on the helium explorer https://explorer.helium.com/

    • Interesting.
Near me one person earnt $4.60 over the past 30 days and another earnt $116

Even if I were to earn $116 per month still a long payback period for a risky investment.

      • Even if I were to earn $116 per month still a long payback period for a risky investment.

The user will get make back the capital in 8M. That's a 156% 1Y return.

        • Minus income tax

          • @justtoreply: It's below the $18,200 tax-free threshold.

            • +2

@rektrading: The threshold is for aggregated income, not per income source.

              • -1

@justtoreply: Tell one of the children to mine as pocket money.

                • +1

@rektrading: You have no idea child tax rates do you.

Oh forgot you're the guy who takes out loans for daily expenses rather than pay CGT hoping you'll die.

        • Please also tell us the payback and ROI if you make $4.60 a month?
