  • I will go nuts if any Queensland store is going to do this. That's gonna be awesome considering I still have $2000 worth of gift card.

    • +1

You are brave to have kept the gift card.

    • Sorga, I agree with Tae, Use it asap , never know when they might go under and then your 2000$ is only worth 1000$ or worth nothing..

      BE careful…

      • I'd use them soon. I am aware of the risk. I will probably buy a dyson and an ipad.

        Cheers

If this ends up being AU wide, then LOL @ people who jumped the gun with gift cards and missed out on this.

Somehow I don't think Apple stuff will be included in the store wide sale.

    • You are right , I have added it to the notes

They have a 30 day price guarantee even with themselves…if they lower the price on something you bought from them, they refund the difference.

Personally I bargained way more than 20% off ticket prices on my recent purchases.

      • How do you get the vertical line when you quote someone?

        • +3

Just put a ">" in front of it ;)

          That really works :-) Thanks

How do you get the vertical line when you quote someone?

I was wondering that too. :)

    • then LOL @ people who jumped the gun with gift cards and missed out on this.

Why? Maybe some lucky people will use their 20% gift cards with this in-store deal.

      • I meant people who already used them. But then I guess TGG refunds the price difference anyway.

    • Why? You can still use the gift cards, obtained at 20% off - and then get another 20% off.

The clause about giftcards in the T&C's means you cannot purchase gift cards at 20% off, not that you can't use gift cards to make purchases.

      • As I said, I meant people who already used their cards, which I'm guessing was the majority of people if what they wanted was in stock the day after 30/4. Then again there were reports that some TGG stores were not accepting "dual discounts", so if something was on already on promotion they couldn't use their cards, nor would they price match.

This is a good deal seriously. Almost cheeky that they chose 20% as the discount.

        • Ah, I understand :)

Now I just need one of the WA stores to replicate this deal!

    • No Rainchecks, and Ipads are never in stock. As for other Apple products, I guess they'll be locked away out the back in the morning…

  • it already excludes apple products anyway.

Excludes advertised lines, GVA, gaming, Asko, warranties, services, finance, accessories, Apple products, mobile phone, gift cards, clearance items, Manager’s Specials, Price Drops and Hot Deals

    • The exclusion list pretty much negates this from being a good deal. All other item prices are generally higher than other stores/online or will be jacked up with no further discounts being applied so I dont foresee any major saving if not using a discounted gift card.

  • @dealman, can you upload the PDF mate

    • +1

Can't do it now from work, Else PM me with an email address so I can email it to you and you can then upload it to ozbargain.

  • to dealman: I think there are still some TGG gift cards in remote post offices. I picked up $350 from Ballarat post offices today.

      Thanks will call around,

  • i have about 1k in cards that havent been loaded nor activated yet. might sell for $10 as i dont think i have a use for them. pick up or delivered in qld logan city pm me

    • Tried to PM you , you have it turned off…

was after the gift cards here in Melbourne..

      • sorry didnt know i had pm turned off only turned it on now i think the promo is over unless it was extended.? any way it would not have worked out as by the time i posted them to you as you are in melb it would have been over.

  • They must be really desperate… I got another SMS about the exact same deal…

  • Too many exclusions to make it a good deal IMO. It should be against the law to state 'storewide', then have an exclusions list longer than Santa's naughty list. It's either storewide or it isn't. False advertising. Even if they are being upfront about what's excluded.

  • If anyone has gone to check out the offer, please post back!

I went this morning. Got 20% off ticketed price (which was ~$100 cheaper than their web price). Then used (discounted) gift cards to pay, so in the end I saved $1116 off a new Samsung TV. I expected it to be busy but it wasn't. I'd call ahead and confirm they have stock of what you want. FYI they're open till 9pm tonight.

    • +1

I got a dryer Electolux 6kg dryer (EDV605) for $412, ticketed price was 515 and web price is $480. I couldn't be bothered bargaining anymore.

      • Thanks guys. I want to buy a kitchen appliance around $400+ and it seems like we would benefit from this offer (even if it's not a large sum). I'll see if I can get there tonight. A bit of a trek going there!

  • I went to my local TGG in QLD, it is not on sale unfortunately.

  • I went to my local TGG in QLD, it is not on sale unfortunately.

  • This was my first experience with The Good Guys storewide 'sale'.
The 20% discount was off ticketed (RRP) prices. The product I was interested in (a washing machine) was actually about $100 cheaper yesterday before the 'sale'.
It is a slimy tactic to mark up prices just prior to a sale.
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"

    • Have to do your research. Fine print says discount is calculated against everyday ticketed price in store. Call the store, ask for the price of what you want and if they have it in stock. I did that last night. Today's special price was $100 cheaper than their web price, and I thought that was good enough to make the 25 minute trek. I had discounted gift cards also so I saved quite a bit. At worst, you shouldn't find it too hard to negotiate for the web price if that was lower on the item you were interested in.

  • Yeah you definitely have to do your own research. Otherwise you will probably be purchasing the items at their usual on sale price or higher.

I was after an appliance which I got for 415. Online GG price is 480 and other web based stores are selling it for 450. So I know that the price I got is decent considering they won't match online store prices. But we also asked for a quote on Nespresso for parents and she said best ever price (today only) is 398. Pshhh my friend got it for less than that from another Good Guys last week - (no 1 day sale rubbish). So yeah, definitely have to research and don't go there thinking you will get the real value of 20% off.

Edit: The sale has ended but thought I'd post in case is helpful to someone in the future whilst doing a search on similar sale.

  • Colleague of mine went to TGG Hoppers Crossing. I assume she mentioned my deal. They told her that they shouldn't have allowed purchases with gift cards on top of the storewide sale. That's BS. How would they know whether my gift cards were purchased at full price or at a discount? (Although safe assumption if someone has that many gift cards that they were discounted). Even still, what difference does it make? Apart from items on the exclusion list, everything in store was selling for 80% of the ticketed price, and they received 80% in gift cards. So what's the issue?

    • Maybe just the person she dealt with? I was there at night, so almost the end of the day and used my gift cards with no issues. The checkout assistant even told me that she had only been there for about 4 hours since her shift started and has processed quite a number of these gift cards. She was fairly nice about it, which I was appreciative of.
