  • Is FlyBuys still with Velocity? Tried connecting from within my Velocity account and it sends me to completely wrong page in FlyBuys.

    • +1

I have auto transfer on and earned bonus 20%.

Do the transfer from your Flybuys login.

      • thanks mate, yeah the option isn't there to join as it diverts to the wrong page :/

      • When I go to auto transfer I get taken to page for last months competition which expired on 30th April. Can you confirm that you received 20% bonus instead of 10% advertised

        • My mistake. I auto transferred 1000 FlyBuys to 500 VFF and earned 100 bonus VFF. I thought it was a 20% bonus but apparently it's a hard 100 bonus point.

  • +2

ref Citi, and Suncorp is it better value to redeem via their own rewards program for gift cards and ac credits or better value redemption value via VFF with this 30% Bonus ?

    • +1

VFF if you'll use the points too fly

    • Seems to be.

  • +1

Currently have 240,000 Amex Membership Rewards Points and unsure whether to pull the gun and transfer to velocity.

I've heard krisflyer points have the best redemption value in terms of award seat availability.

Have a potential trip to New Zealand later this year otherwise just a few short haul domestic.

    Thoughts?

    • I am in exactly the same boat. Following!

    • +1

Then just transfer to VA. SQ would be better if you're looking for long haul overseas trips to Asia/Europe and to a certain extent the Americas.

      • +1

Agreed. Not many options to use KF points to go to NZ.

SQ used to fly Melbourne to Wellington pre covid but not sure when that will come back

        • Can redeem Krisflyer miles on AirNZ

          • @dtox: very hard to get J with airNZ.
            Y might be easier

            • @daft009: Is pointhacks correct here with AirNZ J at 28k KF points (return)?

Ive got 50K points with KF, would love to get over to NZ.

      • Fair point! I do also fly long haul international once a year (but have already been this year). Hoping to head to Africa next year.

    • +4

      Transfer to Velocity.

Krisflyer has a 3 year hard expiry date which has caught a lot of people out especially over the last couple of years. Last thing you want to do is realise that your points are expiring and you have no choice but to use them or lose them.

      • I'd say Krisflyer is still better now that they have spontaneous escape every couple of months.

        • What’s spontaneous escape?

        • A lot of people, like me , never really get to use spontaneous escape due to it only suiting people making last minute bookings / travel plans which also then means trying to get accommodation booked at the destination and worst part for me is then trying to get leave booked with work last minute…

          • @lonewolf: These normally come round every month, I think.

            • @nightelves: Yeah they do come out every month, but random which destinations are on the escape list as well as where from.

      • You can also pay to extend miles

      • -1

I had about 550,000 points expiring in April this year but they automatically extended it by another 12 because of COVID so now they're expiring next year instead

        • +1

My 3mil KF are now expiring in Jan 2023.

          • @daft009: Wtf! How'd you get 3mil KF!

            • +1

@nightelves: I run a small business so pretty easy

I've been flying my staff in business too. Haha they love it

              • @daft009: Ah fair enough. Is Singapore allowing you to extend it past January?

                • +1

@nightelves: Don't know yet. But I'm KF gold so will get 12 months extension when I pay to extend

      • They extended point expiries through covid

    • Krisflyer is best.

Everyone is selling QFF because their a pain to deal with.

Resale wise, QFF you're lucky to get 1c atm, Krisflyer up to 1.5c!

AMEX do a bonus tranfer every year too.

      • You can only related part transfer QFF though?

  • Can you even transfer Velocity to KrisFlyer? That was stopped right? Any idea when they will re-introduce it?

    • Yep halted indefinitely until further notice, but hoping it gets reinstated soon…

  • Didn't this historically used to be higher? I swear I was getting around 40% conversions for ANZ points in other years

    • +2

Yeah velocity did a bonus and ANZ did one on top.
Might still be announced by ANZ

      • Sadly down to 20% vs 30% from ANZ last time around.

      • Sadly, they already stated "15% from Velocity offer and 5% from the ANZ offer. "

        • Aah boo.

I normally wait for these bonuses to transfer.

Though I'm not short on points lol.

    • Yeah. 30%.
Used to be 15% from velocity and 15% from ANZ
      It’s 15% (velocity) + 5% ANZ now

  • My first thought was to put a calendar reminder in for when this start on 1 May.
    facepalm
    Where has the year gone…

  • Any malaysian can advice what to do with citi points? Don't think velocity has MAS

    • +1

MAS is one world so you can book with Qantas

  • Nice, I have 100k flybuys saved up.

  • +2

Transfered all my points to velocity just now, but didn't see any notification about a 20% bonus. Hopefully it works!

    • I did a transfer with ANZ rewards too, the base points processed pretty much straight away but yet to receive the 20% bonus also.

Edit: Just logged in to Velocity account, bonus points came through also :)

  • Wow 30% bonus. Time to transfer to Velocity

  • Chances of getting a better conversion with Citi points?

    • Cool cool cool cool

    • +1

Seems to be for gift cards

  • Wonder why CBA isn’t included? They’ve been very hit or miss with participating in these promos

  • I got about 700k velocity points - is it enough for 2 two people to go NYC return First or business?

KF transfers seem off the cards so what is my next best option??

    • 139,000 velocity points in business one way per person, so 556k total.
You can do this straight from the virign website which lets you redeem business class on Singapore Airlines. Just have to find the dates with availability.

  • Is there a way to take advantage of this to transfer my 120,000 Flybuys points across?
What would be the best way to do this to maximise the value?

    • My reading of the rules, is that it is 10% bonus if you setup automatic transfers, and if you do auto transfers during the offer period.

If you do manual transfers for existing points, like you I have about 100k flybuys ….. it's only 5% bonus so only 5k or 6k velocity points extra.

  • Wondering if the 30% bonus is worth it to move my points to Velocity - usually go with KF as Singapore has good business class availability. Anyone with experience about Virgin's reward fares?

    • So, we can book an SQ flight directly with Velocity? How easy to get, just an economy flight to Singapore?

      • Plenty of SQ flights available to redeem in velocity. Business cabins are non-existent for me (as bottom status holder) however.

  • Strangely I only got 15% bonus on my amex transfer, it should have been 20%

    • Interesting. The Amex logo appears under both 15% and 20% on the Participating Partners page. I wonder if it's different bonus rates for different card types.

      Edit: Yes.

The following American Express Charge Cards are eligible for 20% bonus Velocity Points: Centurion Members, The Platinum Charge Card, Rewards Advantage Card and The Platinum Business Card (this offer excludes American Express New Zealand Card Members). The Primary Card Member must be enrolled in Premium Ascent Membership Rewards Program and be a member of Velocity Frequent Flyer in order to receive the 20% bonus Velocity Points. All other eligible Card Members will receive 15% bonus.

      • Well that sux. I probably would have transfered to KF if I knew the bonus was only 15%

  • +1

Anyone with Citibank tried? How long does it take to get the points (and do you get the bonus right away too)?

    • +2

2 days. Get bonus straight away.

  • I just turned auto transfer for flybuys on. It says it's now converting xx points. Does anyone know when this transfer is processed and is this all I need to do to get the 10% bonus?

  • To redeem for gift cards on Citi Rewards eg. for Apple gift card, still better to do it directly with Citi even with the 30% bonus transferring to Velocity for the same thing.

  • I just transferred today.

I hope I get the bonus

  • Thanks OP, got my bonus points.
