Xiaomi Poco F4 GT 8GB RAM 128GB A$775.79 / US$546.71 Shipped @ Poco Official Store via Aliexpress

410

Haven't seen any deals for POCO F4 GT on here yet. I noticed that the official store is offering a $144.07 discount on purchases above $850.01

Not sure what people's thoughts are on this year's model. Obviously not as affordable as the F3 Pro but this year's model appears to be more aimed towards gamers.

Yeah, last year's F3 was a hit. I might get one, provided prices start dropping.

  • Thanks OP, this year's F4 GT has the flagship specs, just its price hasn't reached the killer price that this series is known for

The GT model was always more expensive. What you'd be looking for is the yet-to-be-released model below.

Was gonna pounce but the SD8G1 drags this down. For the price it's a fantastic deal don't get me wrong. But after watching TechTablets review where after 40mins it overheated in Genshin, I'm out.

Might have done better with a SD888 or SD870. Even if they made a lower F4 model with these chippies, I'd be in

That and ~30% less battery life vs F3. I was considering upgrading from F3 but will probably give it a miss.

The battery life sealed the deal for me. I've got the F3 and only after the last couple of updates has it stopped being a somewhat choppy mess. It failed to hit 120fps a lot of the time and now after the phone update and the Poco launcher, is it finally fixed.

For what it's worth, I use Arrow OS ROM and it's quite stable and very responsive.

One issue I find is sometimes it takes a while to get cellular signal again after driving out of car park.

Also sometimes get drop downs to 60hz but it seems to be linked to the app - if I kill it and restart it fixed itself.

I've also seen it restart on me, but maybe only once every couple of months.

Other than that pretty happy overall. Screen on time reports 6h40m currently with GSAM. Can usually last 2nd day if I forget to charge.

    • There are very very few phones that do not throttle or overheat when playing 40min of Genshin Impact.

And SD888 is also known for overheating issues

F3 still untouchable for its price

  • +2

They are giving 100 EUR early bird discount in their Official AliExpress store until May 7th

  • Conclusion? Worth it or not?

    • +4

Not. Get an F3 for little over half the price and 95% of the features

    • Not worth it at this price.

This or a 3 year old used iPhone for the same price better? Heard Chinese branded phones only get 1-2 years of updates and Apple supports iPhones for ~5 years. Only issue is that Apple throttles 3 year old iPhones to a slower speed if you haven’t paid the $120 for a new genuine battery replacement.

  • Ouch, that price. Not in my ballpark.

  • 120w charging is a pretty big selling point fo me, never had a phone that can last a full say of my usage. I use gps everyday for work. Samsung needs to hop on this train

    • Didnt Samsung go backwards - 48w on S10 to 20w on s21ultra

why would they not include a 3.5mm jack on a gaming phone?

you would think that for extended gaming sessions, people would prefer to have wired headphones and separated charging and audio ports

    • +1

Just the way it's all going. If six to eight hours battery life on TWS earbuds isn't enough, I don't know what is :/

    sounds funny

  • Isn't $599 USD = 850.75 AUD?

  • camera any good ?

        • correct, I believe Joybuy is down at the moment

    • looks like a nice phone! they both do! just shame they dont have bigger screens and wireless charging

      • Any phones in this price point with wireless charging?

    • is that international version? I think the chinese version doesn't have google play

    • HI mate, I'm waiting to pull a trigger on a GT2 pro. do you mind sharing a link to the site you bought your phone? Thanks

    • +1

      JD?

    • So how do we buy the GT 2 pro global version?

  • Warranty?

    • +1

      Assume none

  • when will they bring out another notch-less Poco phone!? feeling the need to upgrade by seeing deals here… otherwise my F2 Pro has been great.

    From reviews

    1. poor battery life compared to F3 ~20% less
    2. throttling and heat
    3. higher price

Might as well just get the F3 while you can!

    • +1

      No IP rating..

  • I think Pocos are good for installing custom roms? No?

    • Yes. I have a POCO F3 with Arrow 12.1. Works for me.

Ordered an F3 after seeing the price for this the other night.

  • Redmi released the K50 pro for circa $499 USD, that is definitely more of a flagship killer.

    • TBH, the answer is no.
K50 or K50 pro is for budget ppl who wants a higher specs, however the quality of construction is poor compared to flagships.

  • Anyone bought that wants to share a review?

  • I'm still using poco F1 - been considering an upgrade for a few reasons, though one of them (battery life) is very easily fixed for like $40 so I'm not super bothered there, mostly just that it's starting to not keep up with some of the games, and also the speakers and earpiece volume have degraded quite badly. It would be nice to have NFC too. Is it worth switching to anything current (like the F4 GT), or would it be better to just keep hanging on for now?
