Arguably better then the Amazon deal as you can claim the steam wallet money, I just missed stock at Amazon but happy I found this deal.

    • Isn't Amazon one of the eligible sellers?

      • +2

They have special T&Cs applied to them excluding some things.

  • +6

    2TB is a good deal.

    • Hell yea. Shame I got robbed a month ago by Amazon UK on the SN850 1TB!

      • Ouch. A month ago the wd 850 2tb was $360 on amazon. It wasn't on ozbargain though.

    • +4

      Yup.

Did I need one for the PS5 I never use? Nope.

Did I buy one for the PS5 I never use? :^)

      • +4

the equivalent of buying new gym gear in hopes that it makes you start working out ;)

        • Or having Eneloop batteries but no devices that run on AA/AAA battery power

  • Anyone know what firmware this ships with? Does it need an update to work with the PS5?

    • -1

Drives don't need firmware updates to work.

      PS5 likely would.

Called JB HIFI and confirmed they can price match mwave and can use discounted gift cards to make it even cheaper.

    • +3

      that's a professional right there
      nice :)

      • +2

Cannot believe JB still charges $689 on their website.

    • Can we then order online or over the phone?

      • They don't stock it in store, at least not anywhere near me in Brisbane CBD

      • +1

It only has delivery option so just call them and they will send you a direct link to your phone number and you can click into for filling payment and delivery info.

        • Thanks for that. Will do it

    • +1

Interestingly dude manning the phones stated as Mwave was an online retailer no price match was available.

      • It depends on who are you dealing with. Mwave is physical seller so should not be a problem to price match.

        • +1

Nice one, thanks guys, nabbed one for $314 delivered as had a $50 gift card from when they cancelled my previous order stating it was a price error. Well chuffed with that.

      • +1

JB dude was bs'ing. Mwave has an actual storefront in Sydney

        • +5

Jb sales staff seem to have a much higher percentage of absolute flogs who have no problem talking out their ass and just lie directly to your face about anything from price matching to product specs/capabilities.

Latest one told me JB policy was to only match prices from the shopping centre they were in (they were the only retailer like that in the centre) and not the store 2ks down the road. I went down the road.

          • +1

@Burnzie86: or they get defensive about it, even when just asked once .. politely.

  • -1

Just confirming this is compatible with PC?.

    • +6

If you have to ask it is highly unlikely you need to be paying this much for an nvme drive. But yes, it's compatible so long as your motherboard has a spare nvme slot & supports PCI-Express 4.0.

    • -1

      Nope, only for your toaster.

  • +1

It's very hit or miss getting jb to price match. Just tried my local it was a laugh in the face.

    • +1

Always surprised people value their time and effort at $7.99

    • tried same, one said they do match, but one said they don't due to hillarious reason - just excusing himself.

though no stock in Sydney pretty much, and you have to show up to the store sorting it out delivery… which I guess not worth it travelling.

  • comes up as $248.00
    Edit: nevermind, worked.

    • Yep, price changes when you add it to cart.

  • Damn, awesome price. Pity I got the one from futu_online earlier last month.

    • This one is better though as comes with heatsink

  • -1

It's probably just me but I have no idea how to find the correct JB online phone number, the website advertises one that redirects to a store.

    • -1

      thanks babes I bought it!

    • +1

13 52 44 should be their sales line

      • Also online chat price match - worked for me

  • Thanks, got the 2TB one. Wallet redemption seems a tiny bit painful but hopefully will be straightforward.

Considering upgrading my laptop, moving heatsink to my old 1tb and putting that into ps5.

  • +3

Got to use the TNC 15% Cards I bought last year, worked out to be
    358 - 15% = 304.3

Redeeming $60 steam wallet bring it to $244.3.

    Awesome deal… Thanks OP!

  • +1

2TB is showing up as $448 in cart, guess the 2TB deal is over, 1TB seems to be on still.

    • yeah 2tb is oos

      • +2

I went on JB live chat and they still price matched it. The guy said everyone has been asking about the SSD today XD

  • Does the heatsink make any real life usage improvements in a PC?

    • +1

For large data transferring or video editing, yes. For gaming, probably no.

    • +1

Most PCs don't even have room for the heatsink, as they have their own heatsinks.

  • Damn, it stopped advertising the 2TB with a low price. Means no chance at price matching now.

  • If anyone wants to purchase the 2TB from JB, lemme know. I have a price matched cart from JB valid until midnight. I decided against buying it. And you can use discounted gift cards to bring it down.

    • I'm too late and probably someone above would've PM'd you already… but good for my wallet I suppose!!

      • nobody pm'd but yes, cart expired :(

        • +1

It's the thought that counts :)

  • -1

Where's all the people at start of the year telling me these will never get to the $300s mark due to chip shortage… mate this happens with newish tech all the time.

All the kids spending their kids money pay the premium (or rich folk) and then they normalise prices.. production efficiency helps but we are past that needing 2 years

    • The shortage trend has changed since TSMC and Samsung has increased their manufacturing capacity. The price will be lower which is norm before the pandemic.

  • 2tb from JB delivered today and had no issues submitting claim for $60 steam gift cards.

  • +1

Just realized my x470 board doesn't have pcie 4.0. Somewhat anticlimactic to install this now.

    • Ahh a true OzB'er. Buy first think later.

      • I just wanted the free Steam gift card

  • Got one delivered today. Should have put it in the PC first to upgrade the firmware (only getting 5500 read in the PS5). Most people seem to get about 6700 read after the update. What a pain.

    • I had to remove sound card, GPU anti sag bracket, GPU just to get to the fastest nvme slot. Can't say I notice any speed improvement coming from a cheap nvme. On ps5 I also don't think you would notice a difference between 5500 and 6700. We're suckers for numbers.

  • From the Steam Wallet Code Promotion:

The document you provided is not a valid Proof of Purchase.
We require the Proof of Purchase to have the following information:
-Date of Purchase (must be within the promotion period outlined in the Terms and Conditions)
    -Purchased Product
-Retailer/Reseller/Name of the service provider where the product was purchased from

Strange, the MWAVE receipt has all of these details. I have to upload receipt again.

    • +1

I uploaded the pdf file mwave emailed, was accepted first time

      • They didn't accept the photo of the SN on the box. Had to send them the Samsung Magician screen shot.

        • I take a photo of the physical SN sticker on the drive. 14 days, still no steam code.

  • Lodged a claim 5-May, Samsung verified the documents on 9-MAY (as per msg on their portal)
Still no approval on 1-JUN :(
Emailed them few days ago asking when it will be approved, they sidetracked and said it'll be paid "30 days after approval" but not the timeframe as to when they approve claims.
