Sweet baby Jebus. I'm glad I build my PC last year.

    • Not if you chose a DDR5 board haha

So last year the price of the DDR5 RAM were cheaper?

  • so DDR5 pricing is about double the DDR4 Pricing?

    • Moore's second law 😁

DDR6 is in the works. Will be 4 times faster than DDR4 and probably 4 times the price 😂

    • Early adopter tax.
It will get faster, lower latency and cheaper over the next couple of years.

  • Does it have little digital slaves inside that carry the bits around? I want more than just a chip for that sort of scratch.

  • Whoah, are they made of real platinum or something?

    • Probably digital platinum. You don't actually get any, just a token that says you have platinum on a blockchain.

With that type of bragging rights, it's almost worth it

Good price for this DDR5 kit, but DDR5 in general isn't a value proposition yet especially given that the new ryzen's aren't out yet and the 12th gen intel chips run well enough on DDR4 which is roughly 3 times more affordable.

As with all RAM generational leaps it's best to buy in a good 2-3 years into the product's life cycle for affordability AND performance increase from CPU's and motherboard chipsets being engineered to better suit the higher RAM speeds and timing available vs. the initial offerings. That being said if you want to be on the bleeding edge then you have to get cut, and even at this price it'll sting.

  • This is a good price but it's a shame they're white otherwise I would buy. Excellent reviews. My tow bob's worth - people are paying up to and over $2K for GPUs without a wince yet $500 AUD for 32gb of first rate memory with all the benefits DDR5 brings to the Z690 boards (yep, I'm Intel all the way) elicits all sorts of price sorrow. I've been holding off on a new build for quite a while and now is the time for me to put together a very nice 12th gen rig and this pricing doesn't perturb me in the slightest. If it were the black sticks or equivalent pricing for Trident Z (same lifetime guarantee and equal or better performance) I'd be snapping them up right now!

    But that's just me :)

It's twice as expensive as DDR4 and not everyone can see the benefits of DDR5, for those people that money can go to the CPU or GPU and see tangible gains.

    • DDR5 is single digit % improvement over a decent kit of ddr4 ram while costing 3x as much, it also makes no difference when you're gpu bound which you'll be 95% of the time. Generationally gpus are a good ~30% faster, it's not even comparable. Now is the worst time to ever buy into ddr5, low stock which inflates prices and its performance isn't currently anything noteworthy. You're going to be paying the early adopter tax.

  • This is 2x 16gb so only 235 for 16gb

  • CL36 - seriously!?! CL16-18 is more like it.
