  • Lol fk, I just bought this last week for $5500.

    • Because they were put of stock everywhere Harvey Norman said they would close to match the price, and did $5495.

So same price as you got anyway!

I wonder if it was to drop to closer to $5k in next couple weeks if they'd refund the difference?

      • Title says $5,395 though, my $105 saving ozbargain mindset is coming out haha. I got it from JB though.

        • Yeah haha. But everywhere I checked with GG they were out of stock for 500km. So price seems impossible to actually get!

  • Daaaaaaaaaamn that's pretty decent….

  • I mean, this is obviously a great, great deal, but keep in mind the G2 is coming soon (or is here now? I haven't checked), and it has a heat sink for the display which appears to be helpful in decreasing image retention, at least in extreme examples, so it may be a longer lasting screen combating burn-in.

    • +1

True but the bigger selling point for me anyway is the possibility of picture in picture using the advanced chipset in the C2/G2.

I just wish they used twin tuners again would be great for bigger screens like this

  • Very rarely does the 65" go low, only the 55" and 77"

    • 65" has been posted a few times hasn't it?

      • Seldom goes to 3800 recently, around August it went looks as 3300 or 3400.
Other sizes recently hitting previous lows.

  • Extra 6% off can SB? Getting close to the $5k mark

  • Samsung 75" QN95B for $3850 or this? What would you guys recommend?

Room bathed in sun with lots of daytime viewing - Samsung
Dark room or mostly night time viewing - LG

      • Legend I will be in a room with lots of light so sounds like Samsung is the go.

        • I have my oled with one big window on left and open wall with windows 10 m away.

Haven't noticed any issue with brightness.

        • OLED is the better TV

      • If you want the best of both worlds go oled by closing your blinds during the day and enjoy night time viewing as well

Let me guess. Blacker blacks, brighter whites and less burn-in? The same sales pitch from every screen over the last 45 years.

    • bingo

    • Except I have this tv, and it is quite frankly stunning.

  • How does G1 compare with the C1?

      • Pretty much the same. It's only bit brighter.

        • I personally went the G1 over c1 solely for the wall mounting aesthetics. Perfectly flat to the wall

          • @rhyso: I got the c1 for 4300 is it really worth $1000 to wall mount it nicer.

            • +1

@Jklaro: I install home theatres etc, and yes, it's absolutely worth it if you are mounting on a wall that is walked past. I've installed so many Samsung Frames, and they look ridiculously good flush to the wall

If it's on a back wall of a room that you don't approach, then absolutely not. But I walk past the side of the TV every time I walk in and out of the room

              • @rhyso: I have the 83C1.

Some cable inputs are horizontal which is terrible if you wish to mount it as close to the wall as possible, it also stresses out cables if you need to bend them.

                Why LG?

It should be like the C1 where cable inputs are vertically.

Fortunately I have a nib wall so it mostly blocks the gap between the TV and the wall.

If I didn't have the nib wall, I could use $50 notes to cover the gap on both sides of the TV and I'd still be in front lol.

                • @JimB: Do you mean the c1 should be like the G1?

All tvs should be. I mount 5+ TVs a day and it happens way to often

In the case of a cable sticking straight out the TV, just make another hole in that exact location if you wanted to go extremely flat? But a standard mount is usually around 22-30mm which is adequate to make the cable fit

                  • +2

@rhyso: Ooops, yes like the G1.

It’s also harder to plug in cables after you’ve mounted it.

I think TVs should be like the old Pioneer Plasma’s where they had a seperate controller box where you plug in all cables, so basically one cable required from the box to the TV.

                    • @JimB: Yes, it's not very convenient, and not ideal to continuously move something so expensive once it's up.

Ideally fill all the ports and have all the cables through the wall waiting possible use

The Samsung Frame use the one box/controller box that you just mentioned, and sits flush.

Only time this isn't ideal is when you want everything contained behind the TV and don't have a tv unit or anything down low.

              • @rhyso: Hi rhyso are you Sydney based? I have a G1 65” that I’m keen to wall mount

                • +1

@outsideworld: No sorry mate. Sunshine Coast.

But as I can't find many videos etc on mounting the G series I think I might do my own video when I mount mine soon

            • @Jklaro: how did you got C1 for 4300?

              • @softkun123: It was 4900 then used discounted gift cards and purchased at the good guys.

                • @Jklaro: what discounted gift cards did you used apart from normal 5% egift card?
