  • Great phone good price paid 40 more 2 months ago, better if you can get the liveview bundle.

Has to be the best phone for sports people replaces a personal gps device, its my speedo for cycling and my coach for jogging or any exercise.

Havent surfed and taken a phone call with it though…..

The best part it is small so you can actually place it in a pocket

  • From looking at the specs Motorolo Defy looks better.

    • ahh yes specs i might agree, and if i didnt hate moto with a passion.

Actually its the Defy+ that compares not the defy

      • well I can't see the processor specs on the unique mobiles webpage, so this looks much better

        bigger screen, higher resolution, slimmer…

        • Why do you need that on a sports phone ?

        • Mikinoz: You have two phones, one for sports and one for other times?

I got a defy less for sports and more because I am good at destroying phones though normal life.

        • Actually 3 , dont ask :)

Completly agree this is why i purchased mine after watching a few videos here's a good one

  • This phone is apparently getting Ice Cream Sandwich, but knowing Sony… it could be until Judgement day.

    Methinks Defy is better value.

    • Feels like it , have been waiting a while

    • People have started getting their updates since a month ago depending on your model. It's not recommended for phones with only 512MB of RAM though. You can do it, but the phone will run slower. ICS was designed for 1GB phones.

      • I had it on my Defy+ (512M) and it ran very well (apart from a bug where the battery didn't charge).

        • Do you have a lot of apps open though? Once you run out of memory, it starts closing down apps. The flagship phone ICS was designed for is the Nexus, which is 1GB. I am not sure if any ICS phones have released out of the box since that have less than 1GB, though it is possible.

  • Android 2.3

    Any official updates promised?

    Pass - it's a Sony.

    • Interesting response - apparently some people are fans of a company that puts root-kits on CDs, can't manage to get the Playstation Network working for several weeks after being hacked, and protect their content with a fury that knows no bounds.

(Oh, and they also own bandit.fm).

  • Not Telstra Next G compatible :(

  • I don't like the hole for the lanyard. They could have designed it so many other ways and made it look more discrete. If you're after a smaller, cheap phone with a much better resolution, try the Xperia Ray which is about the same price or lower.

  • The biggest advantage of the Sony phones including the Active is that they integrate Ant+ connectivity .
ie:heart rate monitors and pedometers etc ..
It's a shame the Defy+ doesn't have this or I would be all over it .

    • How's Ant+ work?

It is included… :-) …or is something else needed (to buy)? :-/

      • It's a communication protocol much like bluetooth and it is built into the sony phones . It works well with HRM straps like the Polar branded chest straps . Bluetooth is crap as it's frequency has a hard time passing through humans , which means if your riding a bike your phone won't communicate well unless the phone is pretty much line of site with the HRM . Ant+ is the same protocol used by tread mills etc used in a lot of gyms as well .

      • I bought the standard Garmin HRM strap from Ryda for $50.00 and it pairs with the Active using sportypal app

  • 3" screen… Android 2.3

    • +1

Think sports, do you really want a bigger device, imo , no
