Looks to be the cheapest for the Animal Crossing Special Edition Switch in a while.

Not gonna lie, I purchased both this and the OLED Switch just for the pretty colours on the ACNL edition Switch + better screen on the OLED Switch. I think I'm just a sucker

RIP everyone who paid $1000 on eBay when FOMO was real

    • +5

they deserve it for allowing scalpers to profit off their stupidity.

  • +8

Funny how it says special edition not limited edition. They keep pumping these things out

    • +1

Smart marketing, see them everywhere. They did the same with the 3Ds, I bought 1 since it was so much cheaper at the time too lol.

  • Is the screen oled?

    • +5

Nope, it's just the standard Switch display

    • lol no

I purchased both this and the OLED Switch

      But pretty colours though…

  • is this hardware variant hackable now? or will be?

    • +7

depends how comfortable you are with soldering lol

  • +8

I almost pressed BUY and then saw this: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Game Not Included. Still a pretty good price for a Switch though…

  • bought 2dsxl and n3ds recently both used. will let my switch have a break.

  • +3

Wish I could buy just those joycons, really nice colours.

    • +1

Yeah, if I could buy the joycons and dock alone I would have.

I'm worried that eventually my joycons will get the dreaded stick drift - and there's no way to replace them since they're bundled with the console and not sold separately :(

      • +1

Dont worry too much about the drift, swapping the joysticks is really easy and can be done in about 10 to 15 mins. Most Joy stick replacement parts comes with all the tools needed too.

        • Does drift redevelop after swapping the sticks?

        • Could you please link to a video? I got 2 pairs that need fixing

      • You can use any new joycons on any controller as a permanent replacement, what do you mean?

        • Sorry to clarify - the specific style of joycons (pastel green/blue) bundled with this special edition console are not sold separately

  • Remember when scumbags were charging $500 for these a couple of years ago?

  • +1

    I don’t need it.

    I don’t need it.

    I don’t need it.

    But it’s soooooo pretty.

    • +7

      Wow you bought three

    • Right???

  • Any difference with the OLED version except the screen ? If always play on TV is it the same?

    • -1

The dock in the non OLED version wont have an ethernet jack, but that's about it.

    • +2

The OLED models upgrades are enhanced audio and stand, built in ethernet dock, 64GB internal storage as opposed to the original 32GB and the OLED screen. But if always using on TV the only changes would be the built in ethernet port in the dock and 2x the internal storage space on the unit, all other upgrades are more beneficial for handheld or table mode.

  • One of the photos show 'Carrying case note included'. I assume it's a typo? Or is the case included?

I am pretty new in Switch and would like to buy it for my daughter.
Would you guys please recommend which super mario is a must have?
I heard mario party superstars. Whats the difference between normal party?
    TIA

    • +1

It's been a while since I turned on my Switch. I played Super Mario Odyssey - it's fun and co-op supported as well. I also played Super Mario Party before but I reckon you'll need at least 4 players to make it fun to play.

      • +3

Agree - Odyssey is an amazing single player game for all ages.

I've heard Mario Party Superstars is similar to Super Mario Party, just more content and the gameplay is better on Superstars. These games are definitely intended to be played with multiple people.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is great for single player chilled gaming. Breath of the Wild is a beautiful single player open world RPG.

Mariokart 8 Deluxe and Smash Ultimate are classics for bringing out the competitive side and great for multiplayer.

    • +1

I play my switch with my 5 yo.

Mario party superstars is like mario party greatest hits. It took minigames from different generation mario party. The biggest difference is the control.
Mario party superstars is joystick only meanwhile super mario party also utilise motion controlled which is fun for kids.
I reccomended super mario party for the lil one instead of mario party superstars.

Other games which i reccomended for kids and adults alike are: overcooked series, boomerang fu, super mario odyssey, switch sports and part time ufo.

How has Nintendo NOT made this OLED already?
Animal Crossing still pumps out regular updates so the game is still fresh for newcomers.
Oh wait, it probably still won't come with the game [facepalm]

    • It's a shame. 3DS Animal Crossing came with the game, and was the latest model at the time. I would buy this just to add to my collection honestly if it was OLED.

Either way it'll be worth over $1k less than a year after it's not available anymore, if you're looking to make money off it. Limited edition handhelds are a hot market now for collectors, look at GBA/3DS prices and growing interest in portable emulation handhelds

The content updates for ACNH ended in November last year, only bug fixes since

  • Can’t resist bought one

    • I did too after some pondering, also grabbed the Dialga & Palkia Lite model for $291.51 using the same code. Gamesmen marked up the default price a bit but the ebay code still ends up discounting it lower than RRP.
