      yeah, 3050 comes with LHRv3, not 100% unlocked. only 17mh/s meh…

    • +1

Not sure why you were downvoted. If you want to crypto mine to pay back some of the cost, you do not want to buy either the 3050 or 3080 12gb. Also the 3090 and 3090 Ti are insanely bad value with the 3080 Ti LHR now unlocked.

      • The loudest commenters these days are anti-miners and Trodl (hodl-troll hybrid).

If you see GPU posts last year, vast majority are miners. -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/637731

They're now rich fella counting moolah…like us.

        • Do you know how much profit a 10gb 3080 makes per day crypto-mining?, asking for a friend.

          • @AMDisDooDoo: $5 before electricity. some people got free power from office/work, server room, etc.

some server room soaked up 10k watts, another 200w is nothing.

around 8 months ROI give or take, plenty of time before merger hopefully.

            • @[Deactivated]: That's fine if your workplace is okay with it, but I would hate to lose my job over a few dollars worth of electricity.

      • 6600 is still the best card for ROI. 12 card rig is around 220 days.

Oh wow $2.50 a day what a bargain man. Absolutely disgusting what miners did to the GPU market but the manufacturers are just as much to blame

    • Is it conceivable some might not be interested in mining?

First 3050 price that I haven't instantly said (profanity) off to the screen. This performance class should be no more than $300 though.

And the Lord bestowed the gamers with a somewhat affordable card featuring somewhat adequate performance.

There was a commensurate amount of rejoicing.

    • +4

Nah it's $400 for GTX 1070 performance. It's pretty shit value

      • It's more like a 1070 Ti with second generation RT/DLSS.

For gaming, at $379 it's arguably the best value card on sale right now when looking at cost per FPS and including the value of Nvidia's extra features, but is a terrible deal for mining crypto.

        • +2

Toms Hardware/userbenchmark unreliable. It's a gtx 1070 with new hat (dlss). Cost per frame it compares terribly against rx6600/6600xt

@Jimmy77: It’s a bit odd that on paper it doesn’t seem much better than a 970

          • +1

@Jimmy77: Hardware Unboxed's testing is a lot closer to Tom's results than TechPowerUp. On what planet is a 3050 only 32% faster than a 6500 XT? If you want to treat TechPowerUp's results as gospel, then forget about every other GPU and go and get yourself a 6500 XT lol…

It's 24% behind the 6600 for rasterisation, so at $379 a RX 6600 below $470 offers better $ per frame. But the 3050 with 2nd gen RT cores blows the 6600 out of the water with DLSS in games that support that feature. But if you don't want to mine crypto or care about DLSS or RT or NVENC encoding, etc… then the ~$430 RX 6600 deals are better value.

I sold my GTX1070's second hand 2 months for $300.

So an extra $79 for a brand new card and the NVIDIA bag of goodies (dlss, rt, and being able to use all its SDKs) seems worth it.

If it's only rasterisation youre after, seems kind of expensive.

    Different strokes for different folks.

  • This GPU will possibly drop more next month EOFY sale. At least it is still a better card compare to 6500XT

for those interested in how it sizes up in $ per frame - https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/47948/95729/20220510_3…
    I don't really consider this a 1440p/4k card though

  • I'll pull trigger at 350 incl delivery. Not long to go hopefully. 🤞
