  • Hi guys, which one of these suitable for rice coocker? HD2137, HD2237, HD2178 and HD2145

Don’t use it to cook rice.

    • Why not?

      • Sticks

  • Made of anti-scratch stainless steel for your convenience

It going to be gone the moment you wash rice in it.

Also like Nathw pointed out don't use this to cook rice. Stainless steel ones should only be used for pressure cooking… You need a non-stick for rice as it well stick to the bottom even with enough water if you use the stainless steel one.

    • Would this be okay for slow cooking as well as the pressure cooking?

      • Stainless Steel ones are designed for that.

    • Ive cooked heaps of risotto and rice in the SS one and it washes out fine? Just soak it for a while and or use a scourer if it's sticking

      • Not talking about the cleaning aspect entirely but more about the cooking process. You can a better product from a non-stick pot (balance heat) also they are shaped differently for the streaming process and how the water is retained and dissipated (some lids have divots to drop the water back down in certain pots).

Also, it is really common for Asians to make like 10L of rice if they eat rice 2-3 times a day and keep the rice on warm setting all day with SS it will get toasted on the bottom.

Any recommendation as to where to buy replacement seals for the cooker? Mine stinks of onion, so not really nice when you try to make yoghurt as it captures the taste

Manual for SKU and google/alixpress always works.

That's a common issue. Have a look on statewideapp.com.au for philips parts

    • Place into the oven at 200c for 30mins, wash then repeat. The heat burns off pungent food particles trapped within silicone pores.

      • Yeah, had been told about that, but always thought it's not energy efficient to turn the oven for 30 minutes just for that. I'll try to manage with 2 seals, leaving one for foods with no strong smells.

    • can you wipe the seal clean with vinegar? It's a mild acid great for cleaning - just cheap white vinegar (2L) from coles or woollies.

      • will try! thanks

Thanks OP. Bought one to supplement the non stick pot.

  • I use it for rice. It's not a big deal to clean. Just take the rice out of the rice cooker when ready. Then soak within a few inches of hot water for an hour and the rice comes off with a spatula. And it's dishwasher safe.

  • Awesome, been waiting for this to go on sale for ages. I’ll need to go get the computer.

Notice a bit of rice cooking discussion here. I cook rice at least weekly and have done so for years using our stainless steel pots on the stove. Never have issues cleaning in the dishwasher. I cook the absorption method (~finger width of water over the top, lid on) but don’t overcook it so it sticks hard. When it’s nice and fluffy and moist (not wet) it’s ready. I find it’s good to let sit for a few minutes after turning off the gas to let it settle and it definitely doesn’t stick then.

  • Is there a similar one for the Breville Fast Slow Pro?

    • This fits as it's slightly higher than most standard 6L bowls. Use it in mine without issue. Breville don't make a stainless version.

    Mine was delivered today.

Very solid base and decent quality feel to it.

    Thanks OP :-).
