40 series out at July/August, HODL!

    • +7

you mean the highest end SKUs will launch first and then the cards people actually want to buy arrive 6-9 months later.

      • +2

If you’re eyeing a 3070 or better then it may be worthwhile to wait. Also next gen might bring last gen prices down across the board

        • +1

Time will tell what happens. I remember when the 2080Ti was being cleared out for $1,200 odd. Many people thought they'd wait… and then we all know what happened.

It's also possible the 4000 series will cost more, or be out of stock. And 3000 series will be low in stock, so prices would stay high. It's a really uncertain generation.

          • @cnut: Yeah, hopefully Nvidia has learned from the 3000 series launch and will handle this one much better.
It’s hard to say what would have happened especially in the second hand market if the limited launch wasn’t immediately followed by a crypto boom

            • +1

@FireRunner: What should they learn exactly?

They made a killing and a tonne of profit

              • +1

@Seraph2052: I think that's what they learned. They can bump the price and still sell all stock out!

              • -1

@Seraph2052: The huge profits came from the crypto boom driving prices into the stratosphere which they certainly capitalised on.
I was referring to underestimating the demand at launch. They would do better to produce more cards and sell at “normal” prices than artificially creating a shortage

    • +1

I'd say, if you want one and the price is within budget, get it.

    • Would the 4000 series drop even affect the low-mid tier offerings from the current gen? Currently camping for a 3060ti/6700xt deal to replace an aging laptop

  • Good price for the ssd or is there better for the price range

    • The Kingston NV1? It’s a budget end DRAM-less drive, for the price it’s fine but if it’s going to be the main drive then it’s recommended to pay a bit extra for a DRAM drive such as the Kingston A2000

Also the cost of postage appears to negate the discount. $11 off but $11 postage

    • I would have ordered one if there was no postage.

  • Will shopping express prices be updated on their ebay account? (I have ebay giftcards thats why)

    • No, the site is running a 10% off and it’s generally more expensive on their eBay store to cover the eBay fees

  • For someone who wants to play games in 4K 60fps for AAA games, would you recommend the 3080 or wait for the RTX 40 series GPU?

    • +1

Wait for 40 series release to get 3080 lol. But honestly if you don't need RT then 3080 should be ok with 4k 60fps

  • +3

Still waiting on a 3 fan 3060 Ti for ~$700.

    In no rush, will wait…

I think that when the 40 series launch, they will be snuffled up by the cancer scalpers eagerly rubbing their hands together with dreams of the previous 3080 launch. My hope is that once they throw the cards on ebay for the usual massive markup, that no one gives a crap so none of them sell. Then cards slowly lower back down to resonable prices as they get desperate to sell them off.

I may be wrong, but I don't feel like the demand is as high as it was and people are generally happier to wait now that they also not stuck in their homes this time around.

    • +1

I don’t think this card needs 3 fans. I have the gigabyte eagle dual fan version which is arguably one of the low tier ones and if stays relatively quiet and under 65 degrees under full load

  • There are some decent deals there to be had! But again, what's with the surcharge!! Nobody charges that when you go shopping or pay for car services & so on….. it's only a few bucks but ffs…. these companies turn over millions $$ a year. Banks don't charge them, so why should we have to pay for them to sell us something??
Have an upvote from me :-)

    • +1

I agree, but you can direct transfer, afterpay or zipmoney with no fee, just a pain.

      • +1

Afterpay is not working on their site - doh!

  • What is better? 3060ti Ventus 2x for $719 or the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GAMING OC PRO 8G for $827? Is it worth 15% more cost to go gigabyte, 3 fans and a higher powered card (MSI 200W no-boost vs 240W std & 270W boosted gigabyte).

    • 3060ti for 919… Why not just get the 3070 in the deal that is cheaper and better?

      • My pricing was pre discount. 3070 is more.

        • going by the 10% discount, for about $30 more you can get a 3070. imo is a better deal, unless my math suck.

          • @kekw: Yeah it's tempting, the benchmark for intended task (davinci editing) shows about 3-4% better performance with 3070 and it's about 3-4% more to go to the 3070. I mean how fast do I need it to render my 1080P youtube clips. 3060ti is already massive overkill I think.

  • 10% discount is not applying on MSI 3060Ti for me.. just free shipping discount code.

    • I had to register a new account.. recently bought a MB from them and it must have used that coupon.
