I'm struggling to book things as it seems the third leg is causing issues as some airlines are only allowing a maximum of 4 people booking at once?

  Cant find anything reasonable to Glasgow (expensive or very long transit times). However I can find fares around your dates to London for $1900 odd with Singapore Airlines/Virgin. Maybe catch the train from London to Glasgow?

How does the luggage work say on Delhi to Brisbane flight. Do you collect it first in Melbourne or does it get transferred to domestic flight and weight limitations would be different for domestic flight too?

  You can check in your luggage at Brisbane all the way to Delhi (international luggage weight limits apply). You can also pick up your boarding pass too.

Be aware, flights direct MEL->DEL direct may not be direct… I've got a booking for July which has been changed to MEL->ADL->DEL, with a 1 hr stopover just to change crew 🙄

  The MEL-DEL leg has always been like that. You don’t need to deboard or do anything with the baggage. I guess it’s to take passengers from ADL too. Same for SYD-DEL from what I know.

    Either way, it doesn't meet my definition of "nonstop" or "direct".
    
    As you said, no need to get off the plane, but just a heads up to others who may be marketed and book a direct/non-stop flight just to have it changed later to accommodate the timings for the ADL stopover. Might certainly shows as truly direct/non-stop when booked, only to be changed later.

    Correct. Its a technical stop in Adelaide, as the A330 doesn't have the legs to operate nonstop to Delhi from Melbourne. However on the return leg it is fine.
