  • I get less than 1 day usage on a full charge

I have tried various things like turn off BT from phone to stop the Amazfit from syncing, I disabled all health monitoring, I enabled DND, and just left the Amazfit unworn sitting on the desk. It still drains battery from 99% to 70% in about 90 minutes.

I have also tried factory reset, latest firmware and a full battery discharge and charge cycle
Any other ideas before I raise this with the seller?

    • That's weird and worrying.. Did you buy from this seller?

      • +1

yep, got it from this sale

i performed another full discharge and charge cycle and the battery fully drains in about 23 hours under very limited use with battery saving in mind
i will give it another couple of full discharge cycles with no use and see what happens

    • yeah I think i'll be returning mine, I'm dropping from 97% (which is what it says after an overnight charge) all the way to 15% within about 4-5 hours… I've now turned a bunch of stuff off like you have but I'm not hopeful. I also can't get Alexa to authorise, the Amazon app just crashes and it gives a useless error. I didn't expect much for $24 but this is rubbish, my old Mi Band's were more reliable and had crazy long battery life.

      • Mine is exactly the same. When I first received it, it was completely dead and didnt show that it was charging for the first 20min when I plugged it in.

The first charge overnight it got to 99% charged and it went flat it under 2 hours.

The seond charge overnight it also got to 99% and lasted about 4-5 hours.

It seems that it can never get to 100% charged and just dies within 4-5 hours.

        • seems they were cheap for a reason!

          • @KRiSX: I've still got my Mi Band 4C which I got from a previous ebay sale for $5 about a year ago.

A lot of people seemed quite scathing of the 4C, but after playing with the Band 5, I think the 4C is fine for what I need (basic notifcations, music controls, basic heart rate monitoring).

I thought the Band 5 could be a useful upgrade for the blood oxygen monitoring, but that can only be activated manually and cant be automatically measured throughout the day like the heart rate monitoring.

The alexa control did work but I cant really see any pratical use for me.

because both screens are tiny, i dont really see any great benefit in the band 5's screen vs the 4C.

if the band 5 worked, i'd probably just keep it given its only $24. but I'm just going to return mine and I couldnt be bothered dealing with a replacement that may have the same issue.

        • The device so far only reports being charged to 99%, then it discharges quickly
Have never been able to get it to 100%, tried various different chargers

I have also noticed that when I charge the device, it will report 99% within several minutes when charging from say 60%
Not sure is it a charging or discharging issue

          • @jaffa-cree: Mine doesnt drop that quickly. but would drop at least 5% say every 10-20 minutes.

but yeah, it always gets stuck at 99% and always says its charging, despite being left overnight.

            • @ds0418: sorry what I meant was, when I charge the amazfit when it is around 60%, it will get to 99% in a couple of minutes
so there may also be an issue with charge not being reported correctly?

              • @jaffa-cree: my fault, i misread what you wrote.

as i leave it charging overnight i'm not sure how quickly it jumps in charging % stats. from what i've read on other forums there seems to be an issue with some of these devices and the accuracy of their reported battery status.

  • Having issues pairing, can pair to the phone directly and unpaid but Zepp android app not finding it either way.

    • Zepp Life doesn't work, Zepp is the correct app

    • Took mine ages to pair (make sure to pick band and not watch like I did at first!)

I thought it wasn't working and then suddenly it was connected… also I paired via bluetooth first.

  • Hey Guy's
Received my Amazfit Band 5 today.
    Starting to set it up
I have charged it ,now it says fully charged .
So now I tap the screen with now results , Is their away to turn this on ?

    • +1

There is a little 'button' at the bottom of the screen, keep your finger held down for a few seconds.

      • Yes have tried pressing the home button located at the bottom of the screen to see if that powers up the Smart Band with no results.

    • Did yours power up? Mine won't even charge….

      • No - have sent it back y'day.

  • Had mine running for a day - battery is on 85% so happy enough with that.

    • +1

that sounds like roughly how it should be, seems there are few dud units out there

    • Mine seems fine, battery wise. 66% after four days. Haven't got Alexa working yet.

Some duds but not all I guess

      • Yeah mines on 47% now after a full charge on Wednesday. Sounds like some are duds, I wouldn't hesitate to return if I was having the issues some have mentioned.

  • Same prob as everyone else. Tap button lose 1 percent a minute.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/amazfit/comments/srrjt2/amazfit_ban…
will try to discharge then slow charge on a laptop USB port, If it doesn't work then I'll be returning it.

  • Mine arrived yesterday, I charged it because didn't do anything on arrival.
After an hour or 2 I put it on, battery was +- 45%. No notifications enabled at all, during the night (around 4am) it dropped out - that's a good 7 hours of runtime …
I will charge to 100% to make sure that's not the issue, but definitely not happy at this stage.

I started charging this morning, so after 3hours and 30minuts of charging, it's now at 60%.

    • +2

After charging 2 more hours it went from 60% charged to 50% charged …
Maybe it's providing energy to the network like my solar panels?

      • +1

        Ha Ha :)

        • +1

I disconnect it from charger, reconnect it, now it says after 20 seconds 98% …
I'm not sure if I need to laugh or cry …

  • Hey Guys, received mine yesterday. Plugged in and was NOT charging at all. I have a Mi band 6 which uses the same charging plug/cable. So the cable works with the MI band 6.

Seems these are defective or old stock that they are trying to get rid of. Lucky I have ebay plus so free returns.

Will get the Miband 7 or 6 for my kid who just wants a step counter

    • +1

Returning mine as it reports fully charged but will not power up.

      • Maybe it's better to squash all hope from the start rather than leaving a little bit of hope .. to lose it later on.
After the band suddenly declaring it had 98% battery, I put it on.
Now it's going down 1% battery per minute, I'll guess I'll "enjoy" it for 2 more hours before putting it in a box and returning it too.

        • Interesting when eBay sent me the free returns label they said they would refund me , mean while Mobileciti messaged me that they would repair and or replace the unit.
Go figure …….. never a dull moment dealing with eBay.
Now it would be a welcome change if Shopback tracked my missing $40 eBay Sub.
          Cheers

          • +1

@chrisie: Reading all the battery issues — nope I don't want it anymore.
They might put a battery that works for 30days, and then you're on your own without ebay in between.
I would (and will) insist on refund.

            • +1

@johnmelb: Yes agree refund is the way to go.

              • @chrisie: Got a return label too: they will "formally assess according to my complaint" …
I took pictures of the battery % at different times. It's not coming close to the supposedly 15 days.

                • @johnmelb: going to return mine as well
after doing a number of full discharge cycles and trying various chargers, there is an improvement in the battery life.
But we are talking about an improvement from 6-8 hours to now like 1 day.

  • Same issues here, glad I checked the comments before wasting any more of my time.

My battery discharges 1% every minute. Did we all get broken units?

    • Seems like it.

    • I got mine 3 days ago and it's been running fine from the first charge… Currently on 69%! (nice)

      • +1

Good to see someone is happy with their purchase ):

        • +1

Reading the comments before mine arrived I was fully expecting a dud (glass half full!)

But it seems I got one of the good ones.

Definitely worth 24 bucks, at least it's motivated me to get fit again.

  • This really sounds like a crap way of selling defect products. It is likely the seller knows what they are selling given the large portion of complaining about the same battery issue.

  • +1

I'm not a tech guy and some info might be wrong but I did a little bit of research and here's what I found:

The manufacturers charge the band to 40-50% then switch it off. There's a sensor/controller in the watch which tells it what the battery level was, so when they switched it off at 50% then that number is saved, but since these watches sat around for an entire year, the battery drained from 50%->0% while off so the calibration is messed up.

The first time I charged it I could only get to 99% and it drained 1% per minute. I tried charging with a fast charger then I tried charging with a standard charger and still got around 1 hours battery life.

Today I used my old laptop's USB 2.0 USB port and daisy chained a bunch of USB female to male extenders to slow drip feed the charge into the band and finally got it to go to 100% and the battery life is around 6 hours now. I plan to full discharge and charge it like this again and again to see if I get more next time.

I really like this smart band so I'm going to keep it for one or two weeks to try to recalibrate the battery. But if I can't get it past 3 days battery life then I'm getting a refund. I'll keep posting in this thread to keep everyone updated.

    • +1

that is my experience so far as well
I have tried several full discharge and charge cycles and the battery is slowly improving from less than half a day to more than 1 day now.
I just dont know how much more effort to put into this given 1-2 days is still significantly less than 7-15 days, and this is not how it should behave out of the box and relying on the consumer to go through all this

If any one gets a significant battery life increase for say 5 days, then please report back

Already have an open ticket with the seller so will see how it goes

      • Exact issue, I'm not getting a full day. I made the mistake of throwing out the box, hopefully this isn't an issue for a return?

  • Mine won't even charge. Any had this issue?

  • Day 3 and after 5 full discharges the battery life is around 12 hours now. Something I did differently was charging it to 100% where it prompts me to disconnect the charger, let it sit for around 30s then charge it again until the next full charge prompt.

    • In the first hour it goes from 100->85% but the final 5-0% took around 4 hours to discharge. I was tempted to charge it at 1% so that it doesn't go flat but this might mess with the calibration.

      • Day 4, 6th charge: 18 hours. The 100->80% part still drains quickly but the rest feels "normal"

        • +1

I am getting a similar experience as well
          100% -> 70% drains in about 3 hours
then the remaining gets me just on about 2 days in total

          • @jaffa-cree: How long have you had it and how many times have you full discharged?
Still holding out hope for the battery to fix itself but the uncertainty is killing me lol

            • +1

@nGu: I have been through 3 full discharge cycles and will be doing my 4th today
Like you, I am hoping this will fix itself, but I am also not sure how long should we keep trying it

  • 7th charge: 40 hours and counting, 6% left and should last until tonight

    • +1

I am on my 4th full discharge/charge cycle using my computer/notebook USB as a slow charging sourcing so will see how it goes now

      • well so far so good and some definite improvement
before the first 30% would drain in about 3 hours
this time round the first 10% drained in 4 hours

        • You must like a challenge.

    • +1

      how did you go nGu?

      • Howdy.

Stopped full discharging but I'm getting more than 3 days at least. Yesterday I slept at 12am with 73% and right now I have 55% at 7:38pm the next day. Really glad I stuck with it.

I'm keeping this thing and setting up long term customizations, downloading "amazfit and tools" and pairing it with Alexa along with some smart lights. Not sure if it can get 15 days as advertised but maybe we'll get there.

        • Ngu, were you able to connect Alexa? I'm getting this message "couldn't authorise, try again (15)". Also how did your battery life go?

          • +1

@MaOptAus: Hello. I created a new Amazon account from my web browser and downloaded the Alexa app through the Zepp app. It's working fine.

Battery life is over 3.5 days but have not measured the full drain because I top it up when I take it off to shower. I'd assume more full battery discharges will improve the battery life further but I'm a bit impatient.

  • +1

Got my refund from eBay today hassle free ):

  • Has anyone returned without the original box?

  • Anyone have issues where the date format is mm/dd and not dd/mm

Also any links where you can change the faces?

  • Mine is only lasting a day, anyone else have this issue?

    • Mine last about 2 days.

  • Anyone pair with Alexa successfully? Mind share your experience? I am getting message "couldn't authorise, try again (15)"
