It looks like Cygnett has ended this line as its no longer in their website.

Using with HA and Zigbee2MQTT these are just rebadged/redesigned Sonoff sensors but these feel and look much better IMHO. Was just about to order some Aqaras but again I think these look better.

Single, double and long press recognised.

They also have motion detectors at the same price.

  • I'm not easily finding info… anyone know if this works with Home Assistant? Specifically using a Conbee II and ZHA.

    • +2

I'm running with HA, Zigbee2MQTT and Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Plus Dongle and all works fine.

The button just shows as a Sonoff SNZB-01, the temperature sensor as an SNZB-02.

      • Still cheaper to buy the originals from Ali then.

        • Correct but for me it's around the aesthetics (round versus square), the feel of the clicking mechanism (these feel much better) and not having to wait 2 weeks to receive. As mentioned I was going to go with the Aqara for a trial because of the above factors which are around the same price as these.

          • @Limbot: No problems with my Aqara buttons but I must admit this one looks nicer. I've been wanting another, I might pick one up.

      • Wait this has a temperature sensor too?

        • Cygnet button doesn't have a temperature sensor. Aqara and Smartthings buttons do. Unfortunately I'm finding my Smartthings button is flakey with ZHA. Worked fine with my Smartthings hub but not reliable with HA

          • @10101010101: That must be version dependent. My Aqara buttons definitely don't have a temp sensor.

            • @Fuzzy Toaster: Are you using Home Assistant with ZHA?

              Quirk: zhaquirks.xiaomi.aqara.switch_aq2.SwitchAQ2

    • Works with ZHA through my Sonoff ZigBee 3.0 dongle.

Quality is MUCH better than Sonoff OEM

      • Nice. I don't think there's anything that works with the Sonoff Zigbee radio that doesn't with the Conbee, so I should be good.

    • Thanks, the first 3 products are all ZigBee? Cannot tell from their product page, unless I missed it. Thanks

      • Yes they're all ZigBee apart from the smart plug.

  • any idea if it is weatherproof? i have been trying to find a button to act as doorbell button on the market?

    • +1

I used one of these as a doorbell outside for two years with no issues https://www.aqara.com/us/wireless_mini_switch.html

      • +2

You beat me by 2 minutes with the same comment!

    • +1

Not sure if this specific one is weatherproof but I've been using an Aqara one for the past couple of years as a doo doorbell. Having said that, it's not in a position where it's exposed to the elements anyways.

Is there any way to get these recognised by a hue bridge?

  • What are peeps using as ZigBee hubs? I have an old Gen 1 Xioami Smart Home , but looking for something less Chinese based.

Not that I have a problem, but all the radio stations are in Chinese as I have to use the Chinese server for functionality. Tried learning mandarin to find out it was Cantonese!!

    • +1

Sonoff ZigBee 3.0 dongle via a PC running home assistant.

      • Thanks will review

      • Same on RPi 4

    • SmartThings.

    • Hubitat, a bit pricey but so far so good, very good community

  • +2

Any chance of getting them to work for hue system?

  • Thanks Limbot. Are you able to compare these to the Ikea buttons? Any advantage?

    $15 button: https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tradfri-shortcut-button-white-8…

    or $12 for 2-button (rocker) switch: https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tradfri-wireless-dimmer-white-5…

I have the old-style motion detectors in HA working well, but have not tried the new ones.

    • No fuggin Ikea in Tassie 😕

    • The Ikea Rocker button is excellent. Works great with Zigbee2MQTT.

    • +1

The Ikea Tradfri devices work well, but their battery powered devices seem to have poor battery life.

By contrast the Aqara zigbee devices I have (motion and door/window sensors) are all still on their original batteries.

      • Yep Aqara ones are the best but hard to find cheap anymore. They also have a built in temperature sensor which I only recently discovered.

IKEA rocker is good as it's easy for the family to use but the battery drain is somewhat annoying. Probably change batteries 4 or 5 times a year is my guess compared to Aqara once every 2+ years

    • +1

I get a battery drain issue on the Ikea switches with ZHA on Home Assistant. Known issue with them and as it works fine with the Ikea hub not likely to fix it.

      • Thanks. I have a few paired direct to lights on the Hue zigbee mesh. Guess I'll just leave them that way.

Any chance it will work better with zigbee2mqtt ? I have a CC2531 dongle in the drawer, but that seems to be deprecated.

        • +1

zigbee2mqtt and CC2531 is my setup and I have battery issues.

I have quite a few Tradfri devices but will be sticking to Aqara for battery life convenience going forward.

  • So this doesnt need the Cygnett Smart Hub & IR Remote as stated in product description on BugW site?

    • Not if you have some other Zigbee hub/bridge.

  • anyone know if this will work with smartthings? and if so is it local?

    • From memory no. Suppose you could try finding a device handler but I couldn't find one back when I was still on Smartthings. Ditched Smartthings for HA and never looked back. Constantly get Smartthings outage notices as well so looks like the platform is becoming more unstable

  • Any good hints on mounting these or Sonoff (or probably Aqara). I know they all come with 3M tape but seems to be a pain in the…. when you need to change battery (Cygnett has a security screw and then you twist the battery cover off, Sonoff has that horrible back cover that's a pain). Anyone found a good way to mount that makes them easily removable and also doesn't rip paint of walls etc?

    • Try using a magnet. Glue/stick a magnet on the wall and one on the switch. Same concept as the IKEA switches and Hue remote. I've used a crappy rubber magnet from junk mail plumber/electrician/real estate agent freebies in my letterbox and it works. But does knock off easily

  • Thanks to OP for posting this item. Bought one today at the discount price. Setup in Home Assistant via ZHA and a Sonoff 3.0 dongle was dead easy, like wise found the easy way to get it on HA was via an imported Automation Blueprint ( the Sonoff WB01 one) and have two lights toggling already and could expand to a third.
