$15 at Repco, if you don't have to spend $39 to get free shipping for non-prime users

What's wrong with the cheap stuff, spray it on scrub/wipe it off, then use another dry lint free towel to go over the window again, spotless.

    • +2

Yes, cheap white vinegar too, diluted with water.

    • +1

I wouldn't use cheap stuff on automotive windows, because:

      i) Automotive windows often have tint installed which is sensitive to solvents
ii) Rubbers and seals around window are sensitive to solvents
iii) Windscreen haze can be difficult to remove with non-specialist cleaners

        windex + microfiber

Methylated spirits is the best thing to clean glass with. I use the vanilla scented one from Bunnings $7 for 1L.

I like that it flashes off and there's barely any excess that needs to be wiped off.

  • Is this safe for tinted windows or does it contain ammonia?

    • +1

      Safe.

    • The Autoglym Fast Glass is 100% safe for tinted windows, does not contain ammonia.. It's the Autoglym Glass Polish that is not recommended for tinted windows.

    • tint is on the inside of glass

      • You don't ever clean the inside of your windshield?

        • being on the inside it's always pretty clean so it just needs to be wiped with a clean dry cloth without any detergent

          • @[Deactivated]: what about the windows?

i take it you dont have kids or a dog?

            • @tango1: Yes I'm talking about the windows, not the seats. No kid or dog atm

  • swear by Stoner's Invisible Glass over other glass products.

  • How long does your interior glass stay clear after cleaning? I think I'm doing something wrong where about a week after cleaning, the haze returns. I was hoping that it would last longer than that.

What specific solution, equipment and method are you guys using?

    • +1

6-12 months between cleans of the inside glass surfaces, but you can't touch the glass during this time. If you wipe or touch it, then you'll need to clean again.

Try getting a roll of kitchen paper, and using dry sheets to scrub the glass - no cleaner needed. If you can see brown rubbing on to the paper, then keep going until it's clean …
Scrub the glass means really scrub the glass !

i find those trolley wipes are great…but only clean/unused after letting them dry out completely first. they have a dense, smooth weave that is great for cleaning with your chosen cleaner (carpro eraser, for me) and buffing dry.

for certain surfaces like the rearview mirror, i won't even use a cleaning agent - just buff the haze off with a clean, dried wipe.

  • Not really cheaper than meguiar's glass cleaner when SCA/Repco have their 30/40% off sales. (710ml vs 500ml). Is there much difference in the product?

    • +2

I have, and still use this AutoGlym Fast Glass. I really like it.
On that note, I've recently bought Bowdens own naked glass pack, with the free double sided glass mitt, that was posted as a clearance deal on here from Repco, yet to use that though, so can't comment yet on the difference, if any.
Both are suitable for tints (inside of windows/glass)
If you need some and this is on special right now, I'd go the AutoGlym Fast Glass.
I bought the Bowdens cause of the clearance deal.

      • I still have half a bottle of the Meguiar's. It smells really nice so I like that enough to use it.

  • Thanks OP,I will give this a go as the reviews are OKand the price is right with free shipping (for me)

  • Got some, I'll give it a go.

  • Is this stuff way better than Windex, or just say like 20-30% better?

  • +1

I buy this stuff in the 5 litre bottle, works out very cheap doing it this way & lasts for a very long time. Best of all is that you can pick up a 5 litre bottle for less than $25

Note, the bottle is labelled as Autoglym Window Clean Liquid 5L part number AUTWCL5

Or, do a google search using AUTWCL5
