MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti VENTUS 3X 12G OC Video Card $1799 Delivered @ BPC Technology

50

Decent price on a 3080ti if anyone wants to pull the trigger early like i did. I found this card retailing for $2100. The price is very enticing for anyone looking to build a PC ASAP.

With only a few months wait for the 4xxx series why would you spend this much on a 3 series??

I can't imagine the 4 series would be more… in fact the lower level newer green cards usually end up performing as higher end cards of the older generation and cost less. So $ per performance is better.

Though I should just keep my mouth shut to reduce the demand at launch to increase my odds of being able to get one.

The other thing is they usually dump the price of previous generation cards once new cards are released.

There is consensus among the PC commentariat that there will be significant price hikes on MSRP for the 40 series. Hopefully this will be offset by the crypto house of card falling over.
My guess is a 4080 will have 20-25% better performance than the 3080 etc. The architecture is more or less the same as the 30s cards, just beefed up.
I think with high end 40 series cards a 1000w power supply will be a common requirement. When you're talking about graphics cards that sucks down power like a small air con then you really need to take your electricity bill into account.

The AMD cards release will be where things get interesting with the new TSMC 5nm dies.

      My $0.02

Good 2c, I'd pay at least 4c for it.

That's not the oz bargain way. HODL until it's 3c

      • Significant price hikes? How much will someone be willing to pay for a graphics card? It would seem NVidia is close to pricing themselves out of the market.

The market over the last 2 years has demonstrated there is a overwhelming supply of schmucks. They'd be crazy not to.

          • @BrokenRiedel: Schmucks > logic

            • @deletedpenguin: Simple schmuck economics: As supply of schmucks increases so does demand for sh*t deals.

          • @BrokenRiedel: yes exactly that. People were paying over 2K + for a 3080. There will be more than enough that will pay crazy prices for 4000 series cards I feel.

            Time will tell all.

      • You are wrong about everything, except the 1000w power supplies.

Even the 3080, which was basically using the same transistor density (TSMC 12nm to Samsung 8nm), managed a 65% jump over the 2080. The 4080 is in the region of 100% more performance over the 3080. Samsung 8nm to TSMC 4nm will be the biggest increase in transistor density ever.

        • I guess it depends on how you define 'performance.'
Those improvement figures are at 4k relying heavily on DLSS. At 1080p it's closer to 20%. Ignoring driver optimisation and other stuff it' hard to make solid claims
There are all sorts of rumours flying around about 40 series performance gains but historically and logically it would not make sense for them to double the speed from a strategy perspective. They've never done it in the past. In fact the Turing chips were as low as 15% improvement over prev. generation.

Most rumours seem to claim the 4080 and the 4090 will have the AD103 and AD102 chips respectively which are TSMC 5nm. Not sure where you read the 4nm claim. Those chips will most likely not go into consumer cards.

Lol sneaky retailers are trying to create artificial scarcity by putting on a promo, and then expiring the price. I highly doubt they even sold 1 GPU in the time this was posted to expiry.

Can still get the PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti XLR8 for the same price at PCByte. https://www.pcbyte.com.au/p/pny-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-x…

Expired now but don't really understand why anyone would pay this price when you can get the RX 6900 XT for $500 cheaper.

    • +2

120 mh vs 63 mhs.. same price will take this anyday

    • I was giving serious consideration to ditching my 3080ti for a 6900XT purely for the 16gb vram.. I play DCS with a quest 2 and you get 50% more frames over a 3080ti with a 3090 due to double the ram.. but the 6900xt is so crap with video encoding, it's not remotely worth the effort.

AMD is still a distant 2nd..

  • Where are all the good deal? I was expecting to see a $450 6600xt MECH today. Current pricings must be May fools joke from the retailers

  • I paid $2700 for a suprim x 3080ti 8 months ago 🤡
