Inflation, of 20%? Used to be $10 in previous years from memory. Still decent price though

    • I love these types of comparisons to previous years.

      • Yeah, $11 now in Coles compared to $10 years ago

how bout $8 coles chook + oporto basting?

          • @capslock janitor: Can you get Oporto basting? I love their flavour.

            • +1

@Nick K: i was thinking was just collecting their sauces in the family meals

there's also "portuguese chicken" recipes online

(also nandos have theirs bigger more places but obvs diff flavour/sauces)

looks like i cant find any commercially elsewhere
edit - they sell semi-big jars of the originalchilli and prego sauces; and usual packs.

              which oporto basting u like?

          • +1

@capslock janitor: Or $6.50 at my coles and the Weber, glorious

            • @BatmanAU: HOW YO DAM COLES SO CHEAP
how much is the weber too tho lol

              • @capslock janitor: Not sure, i think they were $3.50 per kilo.

Weber was $$$$ but well worth it, those things are amazing (pending strong winds)

    • Blame El Nina. ;)

Can we combine with new user $5 off?

    • i would also like to know the answer to this as i have $5 credit . some staff say you cant stack promos.

Last time I got a chicken from Oporto it was tiny. Is that the norm?

    • +3

Last time i got it was tiny also.

      • ours were fine, bought 2 - decent feed over a couple days

    • +3

      Yes their chicks are tiny

    • Yes, they are pathetically small.

    • That's what she said

  • +2

Probably 4 week old baby chickens

    • delicious.

  • not for SA, for sure

    • +2

SA also did it in 2020 but not 2021. We'll see this year.

      • Anything for SA?

        • +2

Doesn't look like it, nothing in the OTR app in special offers (just 5 crispy chicken strips for $5) and whole chicken still showing $18.95

          • +1

            @hamza23: told ya, greedy OTR

  • Last Oporto chook I got was super average :(

  • Is this chicken or chickens?

  • +1

how much is a normal oporto chick cost now? $12 is not that cheap anymore

  • is it one per user/transaction?

and how to sign up to flame rewards?

    • not sure but i think it may be 1 per transaction per day. best sign up via one of the above referrals as you might be able to stack it with the $5 credit

  • +1

Last time they gave me uncooked chicken when they had this offer. The recent one whole chicken I bought I was very sure it was just a Woolies roasted chicken with lemon and herbs added in their store without even grilled at all.

  • Does it automatically appear in ur account?

    • Yes should be under the offers section in the app

      • this confirm the chick would not stack with $5 off next visit voucher ā€¦ suck $12 is average tbh

  • Avaliable for delivery?

    • No, wings don't work.

  • +2

    Nothing under my offers

    • Same!

      • Could be targeted

      • same

How to claim it via Flame Rewards?

  • General consensus among the comments here is that this chicken aint very good. Coles, Woolworths and IGA standard price for a whole BBQ chook is less than $12, available nationwide and they do not not require membership.
And yet there are across the board positive upvotes as usual…
No deal here that i can see.

    • I was about to mentally kneejerk disagree, then I realized it's 12 (not 10) dollaroos now for a once-a-year special.

You can get a chook and a nice bottle of peri sauce from colesworth to split for the next 3 chooks for that price.

I used to get their family deal for 35 and felt it was pricey, it's went up to 45 peak covid, and now back down to 42, but they've lost my business.

    • +2

Haven't had it in a long time but have had it a few times over the years whenever a deal pops up and its always been great. Not sure if this deserves a neg.

    • Hows the taste in terms of Woolies/Coles vs Oporto chickens?

      • better and quail vs chicken for proportion

    • +1

Bought it and it was probably the best chook I had this year. I think it depends on the store. My store was really empty so the chook was prefect. Literally melted in my mouth

  • +1

how do we actually use the promo??

    is it in-store only?

  • Yesterday the $12 voucher didn't appear in my Flame Rwds app. But now I just checked my app again and the $12 voucher showed up. Apparently it's just from today till tomorrow. Those of you who didn't get the voucher before may want to check the app again.
